This guided drawing session is to help you with your observational drawing practice. Drawing by eye is challenging and super rewarding. There are helpful techniques for learning to see where we want to place our lines throughout a portrait and we're going to dive into them here.

People must understand that the most important thing of all is to learn to observe carefully to understand shapes and represent them correctly from solid structures👍🤓

yes understanding the way the 3d form is actually interacting with the light is super important. A great point to address in future. However not not having that understanding doesn't need to be an obstacle to getting started. Thanks for the comment!

I finally came to you Facebook group 6/29/24 and drew portraits with others for a few minutes each. I also drew the Red monochromatic woman a few weeks ago not knowing it was your work. Wow...I found you as a teach and loved it. I will be back again.

Drawing bigger is much easier. Your accuracy automatically goes up as the size goes up. For example if you draw a head on a post-it-note if your eye placement is even a quarter millimeter off the whole face is off. Draw the same face on 11x14in. That quarter of a millimeter doesn't matter near as much anymore.

Yeah that makes perfect sense! Particularly at the drawing stage. There are challenges scaling up any medium but it’s definitely part of the fun/challenge trying to figure out how materials behave at scale and how to best apply them.

I kinda wish you would of done a few without glasses. glasses makes it a bit easier because once you have the glasses drawn.. everything is easier to relate to them.
