Which brand makes the Most Powerful Reciprocating Saw? Is it the DeWALT FlexVolt Advantage? The HiKOKI 36v Godzilla? The 18v x2 Makita 36v? Or the Milwaukee Super Sawzall? Or are they all pretty much the same???

I've been trying to tell folks this for a while now cuz I couldn't believe how powerful the Metabo HPT/Hikoki was over my super saw all The same goes for the SDS Max rotary, the Hammer drill the table saw and the Grinder Also love the 1/2" cordless router and just noticed ACME tools has the new 36V cordless compressor with better specs than the Milwaukee and dewalt- The AC adapter option also is a game changer for many of these tools Saves longevity of my batteries and rub time on long jobs Don't be afraid to go green

I’m glad you put the 12HO on the Milwaukee. It’s not often you see any of their tools get beaten for sheer speed and power with that battery. It still came out on top of my brand so I’m not poking at Milwaukee, but the green machine is a absolute unit. Soon maybe people will start saying “ the big 4” when referring to tool brands..

The Hikoki really is a beast, just as I thought from using it. They really need to work on its durability though, I have two, just because I know I will break those gearboxes. They seem to last somewhere between 3-6months in heavy use. I've bought one from the states with Metabo HPT on it, and two Hikoki ones from a local store here in Finland. It seems like the main problem is with the upper half of the gearbox shell not being connected to the plastic frame in any way, just the lower part is. This makes the whole gearbox able to flex, and then pop goes the needle bearing that is transferring all the force while converting rotational motion from the motor to the linear motion of the blade.

Uh, one more comment on this video: DeWalt's four position blade clamp (looks like it's not on this model) is amazing. I had a model with that feature and it came in super handy in more than one occasion. I'd like to see something like that on Makita's. It would take some engineering, but it could be done. It would make a huge difference, in my opinion.

Bang on mate, the 4 blade option is great. I've got it on my basic dewalt Sabre saw trying to find if it on some of the other ones but looks like not many have it. @@trentguckiean7039 the more amps does not give you more power. do you not understand simple electronics? think of the 18v as your fuel tank and the amperage as the amount of fuel you have in the tank. the motor still turns at exactly the same speed and creates the exact same torque just lasts longer the more amps you have.
@magnusa24
@magnusa24 Ай бұрын
@@seanmcgrath9167 nope he’s right, the 21700 cells have been proven to be better than 18650s across several brands. Having higher amp hours also generally leads to less load on each battery cell, meaning the tool receives higher operating voltage and current when being used. I also agree about using the DCS389 instead as that is the best one from Dewalt.

The first comment was the one I was looking for. Since the battery is a very important pice of the Milwaukee equation, THE 5 AMP BATTERY IS NOT THE BATTERY OF CHOUCE WITH ANY OF THE FUEL TOOLS!!!! The Torque Test Channel have proven that the Milwaukee 6 amp High Output battery is the most powerful. I tend to use the 3 amp HO battery on many of my smaller hand tools, e.g. Gen 3 and 4 Hammer Drill, Gen 3 and 4 Impact, 18 Gauge Nailer, mid torque nailer, depending on task, etc…

Some closing thoughts of my own, the dewalt lever blade change system is great. However, it does wear out and you have to get the yellow part replaced. I own the hikoki and agree totally that the blade change is shit. Very harsh on your fingers with quite a bit of resistance to turn it and you still have barely any room to change when it's fully extended. Cool comparison all in all and I was very surprised to hear that you preferred the 36v mak over the 40v one. I've tried neither so will take your word for it!

Makita never disappoints, though may be not always at first place. But one note for your test. On all cutting tools Makita performs best with its brand cutting discs, etc. Which are made for battery life also, not only speed. So its not only ripping fast but a balanced tool for a days work. Also Metabo =Dewalt with many tools here in Europe. In USA seems different. here in EU HIKOKI is Hitachi's cheap brand

Great comparison. Despite the battery voltage and amperage being all over the place, that's not about you not doing like for like and really about technology diverging and marketing wank. I think a better way of rationalising this (which is what you did wither intentional or unintentional) should be ranked by weight rather than by battery voltage and amps. For this particular tool, the tolerance between biggest and smallest could be 0.7 kg to 1 kg. Who cares if the a recip saw is 3.5 or 3.8 kg if there is a huge disparity in terms of performance or ergonomics? Yes, more than 0.5 kg difference will start to cause fatigue.

@@ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL absolutely. I’ve experienced mechanical problems. I.e. battery connection issues. Along with not being able use the 2.5 battery. Just overheats too damn quickly. Not even worth it to put it on. Abunch of little things.

Dewalt is very easy to understand,their top end is: Flexvolt with Flexvolt batteries 54v Or Flexvolt Advantage with Flexvolt batteries (Home Depot exclusive) 18v Or Power Detect with 8AH regular batteries (Lowes exclusive) 18v And they won’t really commit to which of them is the best. Clear as mud.

Pre-comment: before watching this video. I remember you prefer the 18x2 makita to the XGT, so that says something. Not sure what it says about this particular comparison to the other brands. But, I am cheering for the Makita. I will add to this comment after viewing video... First edit: My suspicion is, any of the ones with oscillation will do better. As Makita has no cordless sawzall with this feature, how could it compete? (And why DON'T they have that feature????) And, as far as I know, they all have the same SPM, 3000, I think. Anyway, on with the viewing... Welp, that's that. The kind of "pared down" categories you spoke about, comfort, speed of cut, what was the third? Anyway, those are what means the most. Blade change, ease of... That was it. This one boils down to what color you like, what platform you're on, and I guess price. I'm gonna rewatch your video comparing the makita 18x2 & the XGT. Will be upgrading sometime. I've been using the 18v subcompact for a number of years and love it! It constantly amazes me. It's just so small and comfy. Ok. Cheers for the video!

Which one a contractor will use depends on the battery system they are invested in. BTW those 4 brands are all contractor grade, but Hilti is a contender, as is Festool, in the US, serious woodworkers tend to buy Festool, commercial contractors tend to buy Hilti.
