The greatest television moment of all time lol still remember this like it was yesterday

I remember I wasnt even home. I was playing pool with my friends at a bowling alley with pool tables in the back. The TV was showing DBZ and I thought, "cool they're playing DBZ" until it shows Tom saying it'll return. I shat myself.

I stayed up all night watching this channel when this aired, from 12am to 6am. Even watched the commercials too. Don't regret it because this was a once in lifetime opportunity to watch something this epic again.

I remember this. Then the rage that adult swim received because you know you don't just dangle toonami in front of millions of people and go oh yeah april fools. Thus toonami returned.

The night Toonami brought in over 1.2 Million views in a single night. Glad you're back on the Air :)

I wonder how the crew at Williams Street must have felt when they saw the ratings for this? I can only imagine they must have been overwhelmed by the response.

I remember being so confused that night because I tuned in for Bleach and forgot about the annual The Room showing, but I actually screamed in joy when they cut to Tom. Still one of my favorite memories. Best. April Fool's. EVER.

This was the whole reason toonami was brought back, thankfully it’s right where it should’ve been in the first place on adult swim.

Oh fuck, I almost cried when they aired the battle with Cell. So fucking amazing.

And 56 days later Toonami returned, for good...

They learned that night not to mess with those who grew up watching this as kids. We grew up and rose up and demanded Toonami back on the air! Shame I missed this event....I learned of it too late.

I might have grown up in 2004 and not experienced every moment but don't get me wrong this was still a hell of a time for a young kid

i remember when this aired i was just sitting there waiting for anime when all of a suffen TOM showed up and the only words coming out of my mouth were "oh my fucking god yes!" over and over

I tuned in every year after this desperately hoping for Moltar to show up and play the OG toonami. When Martin Croker passed it was even more of a gut punch. Freaking Lazzo.....

I wish I had stayed up that night. It wasn't until 2016/2017? when I was talking with some friends over shows we watched as kids. I said something like "I miss Toonami", they said "Ya know it's been back for awhile right?" I had no idea. They said something of it returning on April Fool's Day 2012. I looked it up, and yep, there it was. Watched the block the first Saturday after hearing the word from my friends. Needless to say, it was the longest time I had watched on the Cartoon Network channel, because around 2011, that channel was basically dead to me (other than Regular Show, the other ones sucked, in my opinion). I found the April Fool's Day 2012 broadcast on an archive site, and of course I had to get it. It's great to watch.

This mustve been the last time Z (not Kai) aired in the states on tv.

God I remember just getting off my xbox 360 playing with my friends that night online. I guess I left the channel on CN and was finna turn away until I saw the promo for bleach with TOM and I remember freaking the fuck out and thought I was dreaming haha. Ended up staying up just to watch those shows and recorded everything.

I remember staying up for Trigun! I love that show, and the fact that tom was introducing it...perfect!

I remember this all to well. two days before was my 21st birthday and I also got cable and Internet that day at my old apartment. this came on a few days later and I just sat down and drank beers for the whole thing

It made sense to relaunch Toonami on Adult Swim because the audience that grew up with it on CN is older so it make since to put it on a more mature network. Plus me personally like it on AS because it can air the uncut versions of the shows that aired on the CN version and can air the mature anime that would be inappropriate for CN(Deadman Wonderland, kill la kill, extra).

Now, all that was missing from this lineup was Dragon Ball GT's "Until We Meet Again", Teen Titans "Titans Together", and Justice League Unlimited's "Divided We Fall", "Destroyer", and "Epilogue".

I learned of this too late. I could've woken up everybody in my house and watched it together like we always did.

I still keep coming back to this moment. This was one of those times where your mouth drops, you don't know if it's real or not!!!

I remember this because in 2009 I had stumbled upon it & Adult Swim. And got knee deep into Bleach as a freshman in high school. Then all of the sudden in 2012, graduating high school & was having issues with facing the identity crisis of being an adult. Then watching this & seeing that it wasn’t a joke & that I’d be able to love everything about Anime. It helped me accept facing new responsibilities like, rent & bills as an adult.

I remember this. Epic night. The choice of bumpers here and even shows though is better than Toonami at it's current state. It feel so lazy now.

Ten years ago, Adult Swim's best April Fool's Day joke premiered! And twenty-five years ago, the best action block on TV premiered!

It's been ten years since the unexpected return... then on May 26, it's also gonna be ten years since Toonami's proper return.

I cannot stress enough how insane this was when it aired. Like genuinely. I had become a Toonami archivist for awhile and always thought the idea of it coming back as something a pipe dream at best, I must have watched toonami’s various intros at least a few hundred times so seeing it just pop on my tv was crazy because at first I thought I was just hearing things, then I looked on twitter and saw everyone freaking out and knew it was finally true. I was so happy because I remember even seeing people suggest it would have been kinda cool to see Toonami on adult swim, so it’s almost like some people foreshadowed it returning, and now it’s still going strong today. Crazy.

"Oh hi [adult swim]! You got the results and the tests back, I definitely have April Fools."

I'm glad this part of my childhood came back.

I remember this like it was yesterday. I was at a party on 3/31/12 watching Ohio State vs. Kansas in the ncaa tourney then got super bummed out and went home early when they lost. Then when I tuned into Adult Swim I happened upon the greatest thing happening in human history since Jonas Salk developed a vaccine for polio.

Tom is so cool, even to this day.

Imagine if Cartoon Network on April Fools 2022 brought back the Cartoon Cartoons block taking over the whole schedule for a day.

AND THEY PLAYED YU YU HAKUSHOW?! Damn... I really wish I hadn't missed this...

When I first heard about this Toonami April Fool's thing. I missed it. Because I thought Adult Swim was just showing the same shit over and over again. And as much as I like Bleach and Cowboy Bebop at the time. AS at the time was just showing the same shit, so I didn't even bothered. Even FMA Brotherhood was having reruns like 3 fucking times, and Inuyasha as well. Here I am still watching Toonami, I looked at the ratings when it first showed all the way through the ratings currently. (Because I was bored.) And it seems pretty consistent. Some days or months it does real good and other days not so much. But everybody schedules are different of course. Even though it lost the 2 hour slot. The ratings now are still the same or slightly higher now than couple years ago, because DBZ Kai pretty much proves to be the one keeping Toonami alive, and Kill La Kill is second, Honestly, I am strongly convinced that Toonami is solely alive because of DBZ, whether present, future or the past. I should also mention the ratings that Toonami ever had, DBZ was always the highest. This tells me something. Whenever Dragonball Super is dubbed, PUT THAT SHIT IN TOONAMI! I guaran-fucking-tee it will make Toonami stronger than it ever has since 2012. Every one encourage Toonami to have DB Super ready as soon as possible in the future!
