With Toots, it's all in the quality of the note, the phrasing, the story he tells when he plays. The harmonica is just a brush, a lens, showing you what's inside the soul. If you don't "like" the harmonica, you still have to admire the musician, the artist. Happy 93! My dad's age:}

It amazes me that some people still do not give the respect that the Chromatic harmonica commands. No one can play like Toots, it is magic.

Saw him playing live at a small pub in my hometown in the late 70's. One of the best concerts I've seen. He will be missed.

Toots,saw you at green street many years back, I've been playing since 12 years old , now 80 &sill love it ,first time I heard you I was amazed at what you could do so I got myself a chromatic, and after about 70years of practice I'm getting close , but can't read a note, but just to thank you for Many years of injoyment,al of us that know the difficulty of playing that instrument just love to listen to you masterfully play,I love you and your music, thanks again,Ray Beauvais.

I saw him in Erie, PA with Mulgrew Miller. During intermission he sat with me at a table and shared his life story. Then he signed his CD. I lost that CD at a pawn shop. :(

A beautiful lifetime of music. I can only wish to follow some of his footsteps. But I'd better get to work now if I want any chance at all!

Parece ser que nadie superarará al gran Toots Thielemans en el dominio de ese endemoniado y bellísimo instrumento que es la armónica. Y sin olvidar su excelencia con la guitarra y ... el silbido.

Listen to those Fred Hersch'es cascades of notes! That's just flowing like a waterfall. A true master among other master players in this session.
