Toots Zynsky earned her BFA at the Rhode Island School of Design then went to Seattle to study with Dale Chihuly at the Pilchuck Glass School. Since then, she has returned to Pilchuck as a teacher. Zynsky creates work in a technique that is uniquely her own, she fuses her pieces out of thousands of glass threads which are pulled out of heated glass rods. She then fuses and coaxes her pliable "glass canvas" into its ultimate vessel form.

Many people work in class because the glass will make people look like an artist, simply because the glass is so beautiful. It was refreshing to watch a true artist at work. An artist creating beautiful art rather than beautiful art creating an artist!

Your work is absolutely stunning , I am a mosaic artist that is interested in learning about glass fusing. I have been watching videos and tutorials, for several hours during this sitting, and came across your video. The other videos were nice, but I was seeing a method, or a craft, I was not seeing art. I don't know if I am articulating my feelings properly….nothing spoke to me, nothing came alive to me, until I came across your video. You have a wonderful talent, God bless you, and your great gift. I would love to someday be able to own one of your pieces, this has happened to me only once before with a mosaic from another mosaic artist. It is rare that an object can speak to you, and touch you so profoundly, that you feel the obsessive need to own it, so you can look upon it every day. That is what I feel about your work, and to me that is what differentiates a good artist from a great one. Kudos.
