Toots Zynsky's distinctive filet de verre (glass thread) vessels enjoy a widespread popularity and deserved acclaim for their often extraordinary, and always unique, explorations in color. Defying categorization, her pieces inhabit a region all their own, interweaving the traditions of painting, sculpture, and the decorative arts. The exhibition, Masters of Studio Glass: Toots Zynsky, was on view at The Corning Museum of Glass, April 2, 2011 - December 4, 2011. This exhibition was drawn from the Museum's permanent collection.

Ever since seeing her work in the Toledo Museum of Art, I've always wanted to know how she did it. Thanks for sharing, Corning!

Very beautiful and moving work. Interesting to see that she is a Synesthete....she translates music as color. Wonderful.

Beautiful, beautiful work...I'm a professional classical musician, and I have always wished that I had synesthesia. So envious!

JoshJNYC I am synesthetic, i can't live without music, i am many things, but im also synesthetic, when I hear my music i see patterns, diagrams, smells,, i never get out of my house, never, only for medical reasons, i can't make new friends, because they are transparent to me, and the worst is that I can feel the pain on others i can feel the loss, or the agony, but i never feel the joy, the happiness, i don't know why.

Talk about overly dramatic...It's a nice vase and all but it's just not that deep, lady. The 70's are over. Time to come off your trip, woman.
