An AEW&C system, or AWACS, is an airborne radar system that detects aircraft, ships, vehicles, missiles, and other incoming projectiles from far distances. It also provides command and control of the battlespace in aerial engagements by informing and directing friendly fighter and attack aircraft. Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) units are utilised for conducting aircraft surveillance of both land and sea targets. Additionally, they often engage in battle management command and control activities. At high elevations, the radar system aboard AEW&C aircraft enables operators to promptly and accurately detect, track, and prioritise targets. It also helps them to differentiate between friendly and hostile aircraft in real-time, and at significantly greater distances compared to radars located on the ground.

Years ago I was on the flight test team of one of the aircraft in your video. We had a very narrow windows to fly, in the middle of the night, because unless we were very far offshore we caused a lot of havoc. Garage doors opening, alarms going off and RFI quite strong. Lots of fun.

@The Buzz You have an error in E7 Wedgetail data. Wrongly calculated range in km. 6500 mi (assuming american miles) converts to about 10500 km (if nautical miles, then about 12000km)

The E7 has been chosen to replace the old E-3 Sentry by the USA because its a better AEW&C plane. So I don't understand why the E7 is at 6th in your list. I think you need to do some more research before putting the list together.

You misinform. Your description of Embraer E 99 is completely wrong. It is NOT a SAAB Aircraft with an Eryeye radar but a whole product of Embraer: E 99 awac. And in the case of Índia It was NOT " Índia put an Eryeye radar on top of a Embraer 145" BUT A WHOLE NORMAL PRODUCT OF EMBRAER . THE E 99 sold to India in its latest version o the time. Saab own version using another plane came later. Question is: Why so wrong? Ws// military analyst

India only uses IL 76 platform.. Radar , Command and control system is based on Israeli Elm 2085. Its name is Phalcon AEWACs with Elm 2090 radar. 😊

Bombardier Global 6000 Aircraft fitted with Global eye system is the replacement of Swedish current system two aircraft is in Poland monitoring Russian and Ukraine airspace now . Ukraine freedom war has changed a lot here in Sweden and rushed the need of upgrading and strengthen all branches of Swedish Military rapidly.

رادارهای روسی و چینی را خیلی کم نشون داد و همچنین دو عدد اواکس چینی که خیلی بهتر هستند را اصلا نیاورد . برد همین اواکس چینی کی جی ال ۲۰۰ که نشون داد حداقل ۳۸۰ کیلومتر هست حتی برد اواکس روسی بریف آ۵۰ ام اورهال و مدرنیزه شده ۴۸۰ کیلومتر هست و نمونه ی جدید ان بریف آ۱۰۰ برد ۶۰۰ کیلومتری دارد

@@deepinthewoods8078 American the only one AWACS plane Boeing-E3 is ancient Soviet Era design. So, tell that to youself, not to Russia. A-50 is 6 years younger, made first flight in 1978, American plane - in 1972. So, no compare. Russia now builds seriers of a new type - A-50U with completely different new radars and avionics.

@@AlexanderTch 1978 is Brezhnev-era, so it's definetely a Soviet-era platform. This doesn't mean it's a bad platform. Even in the west we see AWACS planes using old platforms. The important part of AWACS planes is not the airframe but the remote sensing capabilities ...

@@deepinthewoods8078 amercican awacs Boeing - E3 is 1972 , so, it's also Brezhnev-era and it's the only one american awacs. American naval awacs E2C-Hawkey made first flight in 1960, so, it's Kruschev era, Stalin just died, and it's the only one american naval awacs plane till now. Is it not Soviet era? You like to research soviet era leaders because you were young at that time? And as I told you, Russia since 2010 Russia upgrades and builds new modification - A-50U, with totally upgraded avionics and new radar. So, what's your problem? You hate Brezhnev and jump of joy when Russia used any equipment designed in those times? But USA has much more of that. I didn't understand your point. What was your post about?

@@PeterMuskrat6968 tell me please how the E-7 is going to survive when an Sam is launched to it. Doing barrel roll and dive to lower altitude? They are not able to out maneuver a Sam. US, Russian, Chinese or whatever made. None of them are. We are using E-7's but even they can't survive when locked and fired at.

@@cemgokcan they can pick up the missile way before it gets to them. They have electronic counter measures to deceive the missiles. If you use your logic, then it applies to all the planes on this list.

@@TerribleTezza you can deploy countet measures only when the missile is near. EW suites are a good solution but doesn't give them immunity as the missiles get smarter every day. As example ir guided missiles were weak against flares, but now it's almost impossible to fool them with flares as the became iris missiles. Same goes for the radar homimg missiles. That's why it went from Aim-7 to Aim-120 and feom there to the Aim-120D. The upgrades of these missiles are not only for range but against cpumter measures too. Use your logic. We are not living in the 70's anymore.

The A-50 is now actively used in large-scale military conflict, sometimes clashing with the main modern systems of the West, including air defense and radar. And E-7, at best, either in the Middle East and Afghanistan, did not drive terrorists too confidently, the most organized of which are the Houthis and ensures the robbery of those places by the US army, or carefully turns circles along the Turkish coastline on the Black Sea and runs away at the first turn..
