I think you should have at least one film per country from the list. This has two French + a mention and five Japanese + two mentions. My list is: - Wallace and Gromit (Britain) - Mary and Max (Australia) - The Secret of Kells (Belguim / France / Ireland) - Waltz with Bashir (Israel) - Persepolis (France) - Spirited Away (Japan) - Boy & the World (Brazil) - Nocturna (Spain) - Song of the Sea (Ireland) - From the Little Fish Shop (Czech Republic)

+Mike Filio (Kelfleezy) I think the list is pretty accurate. This list could be Akira,, Ghost in the Shell, and 7 Miyazaki films and it would probably be fine, I think the Japanese animation industry (especially Miyazaki) deserves all the glorification it gets. You telling me there's a better foreign animation film than Spirited Away, Akira, and Princess Mononoke?

+Kyle Evert no,there isn't but a least they can represent up until now not seen movies from Norway(Pinchcliffe Grand Prix),Czech Republic(alice,lesson faust...),Hungary(cat city,the little fox,the goose boy...)Serbia(edit and me),China(havoc in heaven),USSR(the snow queen,the humpbacked horse,tale of tales...),India(ramayana the legend of prince Rama,chaar shazanbabe*...),Ireland(song of the sea),Brazil(boy and the world) France,the countries go on instead of looping the same 8 anime movies over and over,and besides,they have already crafted a top 10 anime movies

I found it a bit disappointing, especially compared to the brilliant movies made by the studio before...so I would definitely put Howl's Castle and Nausicaa in this top, but not «When Marnie was there»…

Laurence Hammond They are both good in their own ways, I feel like Ghibli is more enjoyable when you get an older age and Disney is for the younger kids. :)

I'm a sucker for anything claymation; Max and Mary is amazing. They tell such a good story with very little dialogue between the actual characters and instead focuses on the narrator and the letter written between the two pen pals. It's really interesting.

Loej - The Secret of Kells and Song of the Sea was made by cartoonsaloon who are Irish plus Song of the Sea should've won the Oscar. Oh and Belgium they helped with the French to make both movies.

How does Secret of Kells make it on the list, yet Song of the Sea doesn't even get an honorable mention? It has the same gorgeous animation and rich mythology of Kells, but with more complex characters and a far deeper emotional center. It's definitely deserving of some recognition.

How to express my disappointment: -No 'The Twelve Tasks of Asterix' -No 'Little Prince' -No 'Interstella 5555' You had to put the same movies we've seen in other Top 10s about animated movies. Have some variety for Gman(hl3 is not funny anymore) sake.

I'm so tired of people putting Akira on the pedestal. Yes it looks good. Yes it revolutionized the industry because it has high production value and distinct style. But story is rushed and stupid. And characters are either underdeveloped or one-dimensional.

I've seen most of these films (except every Japanese animation mentioned other than Sprited Away) they did a pretty good job on this list. Though Japan got many slots it was as expected since Japanese animation is usually executed quite well.

A few on here I need to watch. Need to rewatch Persepolis, been too long. Personally Millennium Actress is my favourite animated movie, one of my favourite movies. By Satoshi Kon on Perfect Blue and Paprika, it's a great character piece as an elderly recluse tells her life story through WWII Japan and after as an actress chasing down her teenage crush. It's beautifully animated, whimsical, and crushingly tragic all at the same time.

I love The Triplets of Belleville. It's such a funny and heartwarming film. I was disappointed that Mary and Max didn't actually make the list, but glad that it got an honorable mention. It's a nice movie to watch and also one of the better portrayals of Asperger's in media, in that it's more accurate than most others.
