love how they're ribbing each other a little bit. lets you know that they are good natured and that they have a strong connection, which is one of the biggest benefits of yoga in my opinion- it gives you the ability to connect with people more deeply when you are at peace yourself! This is something I look for in a teacher and lets me know I can trust their advice

1. Create the right ambiance/attitude 2. Listen to your breathing 3. Movement and breath 4. The posture is the foundation 5. Stabilizing action 6. Clarification of the 6 directions 7. Pay attention to the feeling in the hands, feet, face 8. Practice at the same time and spot 9. It's okay if you understand 10. Do savasana for a long time. 1 hour practice::5 minutes savasana

point 9 is: we tend to get complacent once we understand and get comfortable. So we should not hesitate to push little up to the areas where we don't understand as well. U've got 70% out of 100%. Now fight for more from 30% that you are yet to learn. I think that's how we improve and not be stagnant once we are stable.

It's extremely rare to have a long savasana offered in a public class if ever! Teachers really need to reconsider this and understand the importance of calming the nervous system. The more teachers incorporate this in public classes the more it becomes a consistent offering in more and more classes.

@@BAndersonDavid I take 75 min ashtanga classes. I don't think 2-3 mins suffices. I would say 6-8... takes me at least a min to get into savasannah comfortably.

Purple Valley is top-notch content, I have got so many gems from only seven or eight videos. It is often rich in technicality taught by people who truly know the body which is very reassuring. There is so much great Yoga content online that enriches so many lives. I am very grateful for your teaching and insights in these unusual and uncertain times. I hope you are all well at Purple Valley. Thanks so much. Namaste:)

This video helped me make a connection! For the last 3 weeks, I have been rushing out of Mysore and not doing shavasana for very long at all. For the last 3 weeks, I have been very frazzled and my practice seems to have come to a standstill. I was about to seek the help of an energy worker to figure out what is "wrong" with me. Thanks for the tips. I will write them down and integrate them into my practice.

I'm so glad you mentioned savasana! It is something so neglected in yoga classes nowadays, especially in the west, but even in places like Thailand I've seen, where students hardly stay for more than a couple of minutes in final relaxation. I was taught from the very beginning to give my students long savasana, many of them guided. Most teachers I come across and talk to do not know how to give/teach savasana or instill it in the class. They feel very uncomfortable with this, and hence just breeze through it, and often give it as an option. Unfortunately, that is depriving the student of the most important and sweet part of the practice.

Generally the sequence itself is preparing your body, surinamaska A prepares for B, and the sun salutes in general prepare for standing poses etc. etc. So a good perpetration in my experience is to take 5-10 minutes to relax, get connected with the breath so you're present when starting the chant. Good luck!
