Correction: The grappling hook is not referred to as the Batclaw in the Arkham games. It's the grapple gun. The Batclaw is used to pull objects, such as weak walls, grates, collectibles, and enemies toward Batman.

Actually, the grapple gun and the batclaw are separate gadgets in Arkham.

I think the glide cape was introduced in Batman Returns. Ironically, he uses it after simply watching a woman fall to her death w/o any attempt at diving towards her. XD

The glide cape was something that's been with Batman longer than the movies I believe. At least in the early comics they intended for a Da Vinci-styled flying machine but opted for his cape later. The 1989 Batman film had Batman glide with his cape so definitely before Batman Returns. Batman Begins just added a scientific explanation.

Arsio12 Batman '89 showed him jumping into action w/ his cape spread out, but the sequel was the first time he was shown actually leaping off a building and gliding in the air, at least on the big screen. Not sure about the comics.

***** It's suppose to be cape-gliding, and as far as I know (which isn't that much, casual reader) he always had cape gliding to some extent. But yeah, in Batman Returns he outright used a glider.

Year One introduced the glider. Batman Begins made it more practical. It never really had that function in the comics. That's where Arkham games took the whole thing with the cape.

Batman may not have any super powers of any kind. But he more than makes up for it with his vast array of awesome gadgetry and a sweet ride. And if he wants to fly without the need of the Batwing, he can simply just glide gracefully through the skies using his now iconic glide cape.

+velociraptor4you We can't blame it all on Schumacher since it was Warner Bros. who wanted it as kid friendly as possible and he had no choice because the studio execs were pressuring him the whole time. So we can put some blame on Joel, but the blame is fully on Warner Bros and especially the idiot parents who lashed out from Burton's genius films. At least Warner learned the lesson that we want gritty and violent Batman films.

It's implemented in Arkham City as the special combo Bat-Swarm. Detective Vision also works like the Cellphone Sonar Device.

This was a great list. if I could add a gadget, it would be the disruptor from the arkham series. Not as iconic, but super functional. Batman always fights people who are armed. Perfect countermeasure for those enemies.

+Humberto Rodriguez Looks like someone doesn't like the 1960s TV show. While it hasn't aged well and does represent a take on Batman that is now controversial with fans (thanks to Joel Schumacher and Warner Bros. Execs), it represents a time when the tone of superheroes weren't taken too seriously. While it may make no sense, I can imagine Bruce Wayne making an aerosol spray that repels sharks, through either simulation of smells they don't like or releasing an agent that is harmful, but not lethal in large doses.

My favorite Batman gadget is the remote claw. I love it cause not only can you use it to walk and zip line, you can use the remote claw to point at your enemies and connect them to a air tank or their own.

For #3 instead of just gliding it should of been the entire cape. Not only can it do that but it's also used for intimidation, fire proof, misdirection of bullets, and helps him get things out of his belt without people knowing what he's doing.

The spikes were shown to be more than style in the Batman: Beyond series and the series The Batman. Batwave was great, it was an unhackable means of communication and alert system.

In some comics batman also uses his cape to block bullets because his cape is bullet proof in some comics. And also the best claw is different to the grapple gun because batman uses the grapple gun for transport and he uses the bat claw for utility or combat

You kind of forgot Line Launcher. The Line Launcher was built for zip lining across obstacles in Arkham origins he uses a different gadget to use but in Arkham Asylum, Arkham City & Arkham Knight he definitely used the Line Launcher.

In the Batman Arkham Games it is called Bat Grapple and not Bat Claw. The Bat Claw is an extra gadget which Batman uses to Pull Enemy's or other things.

The Bat Credit Card has got to be the most useless weapon in the utility belt, and yet it only comes out once in the funniest scene in Batman & Robin.

As far as I know, the explosive gel (or plastique explosive) appeared in the Under the Hood storyline in 2005 when Bats and Nightwing fight the Amazo.

Batman has always had the coolest toys., my favorites are the smoke pellets., and mini-batrangs to misdirect or distract his foes., and grapping-gun., plus the gilder-cape., and I think he has an EMP device to disupt electronics like sensors and cameras.,,.

I get why the batarang is number one but in terms of effectiveness I would go with the grappling gun or the bat claw, which are seperate

Don't underestimate the value anything that can catch a sword has, on catching swords. Gauntlets, or tiny little slivers on your blade, sword contact is common, and catching it isn't hard, the wrist is a place that's aimed for, and if you foresee it. And catch the blade, you won the fight.

The freeze grenade and glue grenade were set in different times. Like the glue grenade in origins was set before city

The Grapple gun isn't called Batclaw in the Arkham games. Those are two different tools. The Batclaw is to grapple on hooks and pull yourself, or the hook, like with a rope, while the grapple gun is always there and is used to get to high places. Two different things!

the belt from the brave and the bold cartoon seriously that thing has mini rockets for flight, and the buckle houses an energy sword, plus it houses all the other gadgets, so its the most versatile, and variety is the spice of life (TAKE NOTES WATCHMOJO)
