goddamn, as a lifelong red sox fan I remember being terrorized by Enter Sandman as a kid. The few times the sox ever scored on Rivera it felt like a freaking miracle. To a young fan, Rivera was basically a horseman of the apocalypse. Absolute legend.

There will never, EVER be a closer entrance better than Mariano Rivera. Enter Sandman was the perfect song for him since every player in baseball had nightmares about facing him.

I was also at Petco when they honored Trevor for his HoF selection. Stadium went dark, Hells Bells came on, and then just Trevor lit up on the pitchers mound. Will remember that the rest of my life!

I never cease to marvel at the cult of the closer. They pitch one inning, almost never with anyone on base, and make more than the rest of the relief core combined. How about some walk-in music for the guy who comes on with nobody out and the bases loaded in the sixth and puts out the fire? Without him, the closer never gets in the game.
