He probably improved upon it by the spaces he was using. I took license with the song from his version, actually, and continue to do it to this day." Type O Negative definitely used to do the best metal covers. They used to pick pop/rock songs and completely transform them into their own style. My vote goes to their cover of Summer Breeze by Seals and Crofts.

I think Schuldiner with DEATH did a great cover. He kind of answered Judas Priest because, this song is obviously the most 'Death Metal'oid song of a classic Heavey Metal Band who reinvented themselves with this song. But concerning the soli and sound I would also go for the original. But tomorrow morning my mood could be different. It feels a little like a dish served by various restaurants and you like all of them.

Hurt for me will always be the best cover ever. Cash took a depression song and then turned it into a redemption song.

August Burns Red cover of Chop Suey is another one…but it most likely wasn’t released when this list was made. I’m seeing Killswitch Engaged with August Burns Red in March!!!!! That 5 Finger Death Punch cover of Bad Co. was filmed in the Biop region of Iraq in the heart of Bagdad. I wasn’t there for them but I saw Toby Keith on that same stage on Camp Liberty. That video just takes me straight back there.

My personal favorites are when Ozzy and Primus got together to cover NIB, the Bullring Brimmies cover of The Wizard, and Bruce Dickenson and Godspeed covering Sabbath Bloody Sabbath.
