That very first 44 pistol location. Turn the pump off, open the panel box cover, and out pops 3 boxes of caps. Really helpful in the beginning of the game.

Funny thing that happened: While traveling to the radium rifle’s location (which took a while to find) when I had finally found it and was about to pick it up, I was attacked by a legendary mole rat brood mother, who just HAPPENED to drop a legendary radium rifle.

"Finding ammo for it can be difficult" is a bit of an understatement. I got the .44 and found exactly ONE vendor in the entire game who sold the ammo - the lady with the dog near Fairline Hill Estates. Apparently the problem was me being too low level for them to sell the ammo. Makes an early weapon pretty useless when you have no ammo.

I found the .44 on my first playthrough without video guides. I have gamer OCD so I pick every building and location clean. Then I do a second sweep.

There is a guaranteed combat rifle on one of dead mercs, unmarked "ambushed caravan" spot near covenant. And there is a laser on the other merc. You can get both at lvl 1 without any combat. It is a bit easier than fighting through bloodbugs and bloatflies at the clinic.

The 44 pistol that is listed as number 10. Another thing about that location is if you turn off the pump by flipping the breaker on the part in the lake then go up hill to the pistol. It allows you to open the door on the front of the big yellow pump. There is 3 of the cap stashes inside of the door.

When I engaged in combat I mistakenly grabbed a butchers knife instead of my snickersnee, this was a mistake.

Does anyone else not enjoy power armor? I like and respect it, but I don't want to walk around in it. 3 I wore mainly Chinese Stealth armor, New Vegas I wore ranger gear and the elite riot gear, and 4 I went through various armors but ended up sticking with the vault suit with leather armor over it with all the upgrades... Made fights a bitch at times but enjoyed the simplicity of the outfit.

Bit late to the party, but You have high % chance of a combat shotgun in Taffington Boathouse. In the boat shed. This is my goto location for a combat shotgun and spawns 9 in 10 attempts. Its part of a trap overlooking the water entrance, which you can get to at very low level, if you are sneaky you can get around the many Bloodbugs, enter the shed via the water but becareful to watch out for and disarm the laser trip wires which set this trap off. Good source of early crystal also with the trip wires. Sadly on the 10th attempt its a double barrelled shotgun.

To keep it completely honest only the .44 truly matters that early on in your playthrough, additionally there is a full set of arm and leg leathers in a suitcase allong that same shoreline you follow for the .44 if you combine that with the army helmet from the apc next to Sanctuary youre basically setup for a smooth start, visit the cellar behind Sanctuary for some stash and 3 gold bars @ 450 a piece and youre set to grab Justice or Overseers Guardian whichever you prioritise.

There is a railway rifle that spawns in bedford station (following the tracks south from tenpines bluff), in one of the train cars; not sure if the car with the dead drop or the other with the skeleton and sleeping bag. Its very easy to miss, as it blends really well with the rusty floor, someone just having a quick look will certainly miss it. There are also some spikes, which i think respawn.

Great overall info, for the beginners! Even though I’ve yet to complete the game once through, it’s 2020, and I started my quest the first week the game came out. Yes, I’m very aware of that fact, but I’m currently at level 100 and something. I love Fallout 4, and I’m getting to the point where I can kill anything in the wasteland in mere seconds. My point being, I know this game well, and this video for the majority of people, is something I would have loved to watched when I first started playing, in fact, I’d say that this is a MUST WATCH video for ANYBODY who has, and will play Fallout 4! While I know that this is an old video, there is a very easy, very early, guaranteed Combat Rifle. On the road between Covenant and the hospital, one of the mercenary corpses has a completely unmodified Short Combat Rifle. Its become a staple for my survival sniper, and I can confirm that I have never had it fail to spawn, at any level, on any playthrough.

Puma: Shows where the first easy 44 you can get. Also Puma: Doesn't bother disabling the pump and nabbing the caps behind the pump door or the other goodies on top of the pump. I mean, if they don't know where the 44 is, they don't know about any of that other stuff either.

Haven't played this game since 2017 never played the dlc in it was satisfied with the main story but I checked it out again and it's still a fun game to play. I realize why I loved it so much you can get lost in this game. It also looks like a new game on the series S with the boosted fps!

My first introduction to the handmade rifle wasn't even Fallout 4. It was Fallout 76. Crazy rare random modified weapon drop before I was barely level 10. I would eventually acquire a ultra rare legendary drop of this weapon. If I was to reinstall the game and check my character, I can almost all but promise you it is still my primary.

Bought the game for Steam in January 2021. Played close to 1,500 hours so far. Cleared Backstreet Apparel a long time ago. Still pick up a free missile launcher when I pass that area -- usually to empty the magic self-replenishing bank vault a couple of streets behind Backstreet Apparel. The baseball bat and glove on the shelves outside Backstreet Apparel respawn, too. If you're up for shooting gunners there is another ever-respawning missile launcher in a train car in Quincy. It respawns before the gunners do, so you can turn their trap into a nice sneaky way into their midst with a well--timed re-visit. .

Tip for .44 very early. There's a trader in an unmarked spot directly south of diamond city, she'll have 100+ .44 bullets no matter your level for sale.

I actually found a radium rifle that has the slow time legendary effect.

There is usually a charging laser sniper rifle on the Gunner overpass outpost near Tenpines Bluff. Very good place to grab an early sniper, it's usually there even at very low levels. The problem is that the "charging" part is hard to figure out, you can't see the lights on the rifle when it has a scope on it, but it's still a more or less guaranteed early sniper rifle.

IDK if this will work for everybody, but you can go to covenant, and just nearby northwest will be a caravan with a combat rifle on a corpse (The caravan is part of the mission at Covenant)

.44 sucks on survival on higher levels. I thought I could do "classy, sassy shroud costume build" but when coming to higher leveled enemies I was quite disappointed in .44. High level weapon of choice still will be plasma/gatling laser. You can't beat those. One ghoul dropped me legendary two shot gatling laser so well it's spray'n pray so whatever. It doesn't have to be accurate. Gauss gun is great for sneak build with silencer otherwise it's waste of time costs lots of AP in the same time I could deal more with rapid plasma rifle fully upgraded. Rapid plasma is so much fun when you have commande maxed and automatic barrel. Stack it up with some jet/psychojet. Man I love it. There's nothing much better than a smell of plasma in the morning.

4:17 Why go to Big John's Salvage when there's another Railway Rifle at Bedford Station. Its relatively safer since its closer to the starting area. Though I think it only starts to appear when the Sole Survivor is around Level 20.

Ik this video is old af, but you can find a railway rifle alot easier than the one in the video. All you have to do is go to the Rotten Landfill (I believe its called) and go to the train tracks nearby. When you get there you should be able to spot a train with an open carriage and when you look inside, there will be a railway rifle next to a skeleton along with some other things. Hope this helps, although I doubt many people are playin F4 rn

Wait, at 2:20, did anyone else notice the rifle that looks an awful lot like an M4 or M16??? I didn't think that rifle was in Fallout 4... Was I wrong?

The best location for a combat shotgun is Longneck Lukowski's cannery. Now this location is far away, on the east side of the map right next to the sea, S.E. of the Slog settlement. Its a long and dangerous why to travel at a low level but well worth it. You can just go inside, make your way to the top floor. You may need a point into lockpick to open the door. But once inside, there is a combat shot gun. There is also a Barter bobblehead and a Tales of a junkyard jerky vender magazine. Both of which lower your costs at venders. Which is a great thing to have early in the game. Me, I like to explore things as I come across them. I dont suggest doing that on this trip. You can get there without finding any locations if you do a bit of a zig zag around everything.

You can also get the .44 snub at Jamacia Plains as well. Inside the building with a bus in the front, benches to the side and pond in the back. It's on the second floor opposite the room with withered ghoul plus friends and a dead gunner (combat armor). It's laying just on top where the floor from below meet. Goodluck, I pulled it off on survival at lvl 8...but the cost.

You missed the Snickersnee rifle. Lol. Was replaying FO4 in 2020 but abandoned it as I couldn't sort out my mod order (on Xbox) and flying to the Prydwen resulted in constant crashes. Now replaying it in 2021 after some research re. mods. After 2 months of daily play its only crashed once. Im loving it again. Still disappointed you didn't cover the Snickersnee rifle though.... Thanks for the content. After many play-throughs, Im still coming across random encounters or experiencing events in a way I haven't seen b4. There is also a sniper rifle on a (Red Rocket?) building roof I think somewhere in the middle of Grey Garden and Bunker Hill? It is unprotected. Someone will have to correct me on its location. FO4 is an enormous game that is greatly enhanced/fixed by the modding community (yeah... that's a shot at you Bethesda). Hopefully FO5 will emerge into a game worthy of the name (...you know, the jet will make you jittery... lol). Never thought I would put my faith in Microsoft but I really hope they bring something to the game.... ;/

when referring to maxing out damage: do you also factor in perks? because with that you should be able to drastically increase the missile launchers damage: times 2 by maxing out the explosive perk and times 2 by maxing out the heavy weapons perk (if I remember correctly) so in total times 4
