J Smooth Soul Beats it was more of a joke tbh dude but I see what you mean, The Neo Saban era is easily the weakest in the shows history. Ik people like to blame Disney, but imo only one of the Disney seasons was downright bad. Being Overdrive. Other than that they were all at pretty good. Samurai and Megaforce tried to hard to be the new MMPR, without realising that times have changed and they don't have the same charm mmpr had. With bland characters and no real heart to them. But not having all the old Megazords show up at the end of Forever Red over the budget sucks. Sure it makes Cole look like a powerhouse but it's not the best ending. That being in my mind one of the biggest causalities of a low budget .

Dino Charge is the only exception I'd say.

Iwillone I really liked Dino Charge, all though Power Rangers going all Dragon Ball with dinosaurs is really weird. I like it because of how insane it is, do they make mention of it in Ninja Steel? I haven't gotten to watching it yet

TheSoullessSurvivor nah the real villain to power rangers was johnathan Tzachor due to his desire to just dub the original sentai and take out good elements to ranger series like samurai and megaforce and just turned them into the bland, badly written, and poorly executed ranger series that we know today.

Not to mention that the cause of the Kendrix's death was from something Karone created when she was Astronema, Psycho Pink. So there's a level of responsibility to her becoming the pink galaxy ranger and wanting to atone for the sins that still haunted her.

B Not really, because the writers were still using the same style of plans as they were with Rita, so Zed was becoming a bit of a joke for the exact same reasons as Rita, the marriage to Rita just so happened to take place at the same time. So even if they hadn't been married Zed would've been seen the same way

To be fair, this *is* the pairing that 1) Destroyed the Thunderzords, 2) Captured the Ninja Falconzord, thus disabling the Ninjazord for a while 3) Captured Ninjor *and held him* for a few episodes 4) stole the Pink Ranger Coin and nearly killed Kimberly 5) forced the Zordon and the Rangers to let Lord Zedd into the Command Center due to reasons 2, 3, and 4 6) ultimately obliterated the Ninja Coins, and 7) *blew up the Command Center* the first time at the end of the Alien Ranger arc. Not to mention that it was *them* who ultimately blew the Royal House of Gadgetry to pieces at the end of Zeo. So it could be argued that Rita and Zedd were *more* effective together than they ever were apart.

BladeBlur mesogog was easily one of the most awesome villains in the ranger series, easily in the top three in my opinion.

That's a fair question. Allow me to start by saying that ordering this list was impossible and villains jumped all over the place, sometimes from 5 to 10 to 7 and then back again, so there was never going to be any kind of consensus even on my end. Plus I hate the implication that because Mesogog ended up as 11th, that he's somehow so much worse than Ecliptor and the like when he's actually one of the best. But what it comes down to is this: Mesogog had great traits that other higher up villains captured a bit better in terms of their characterization. Daishi was a better portrayal of duality, Venjix was a better portrayal of the aftermath of a really smart person's ambitions, and almost every villain listed has a more interesting or thematically appropriate demise. And the villains that barely surpassed him, if surpass is even the right word, really they're all equals until Trakeena, added a powerful emotional core to their season that worked well into the themes and narrative that was created. That is a factor of In Space and Lost Galaxy being more narratively ambitious than Dino Thunder, but it works because of what they then did with those villains. So all of those factors and more come into play beyond how well designed villains like Mesogog are. It's way more about what's built around them and how that functions into the greater whole of the season itself. Mesogog had that, which is why he was so close to being on the list proper, so a tough and debatable call had to be made. But it's nothing against him, after all, I praised how he was handle in Dino Thunder, it's just I felt like a stronger argument could be made for someone like Frax.

It wasnt really her fault. When she merged with Deviot she lost her mind. Before that she could have bombarded the space station at any time. But she didnt do that. She wanted to get revenge and all that but utter and complete destruction of everything was never her goal. She would have never harmed Villamax willingly. It was all cause of Deviot.

I think the reason why they weren't here is because they just didn't last long enough. They only had their major role during the final arc. That being said, I completely agree with you. Most villains were blackmailed or brainwashed/manipulated into becoming evil, these guys have always been corrupt from the start. I really wish they would've been more prevalent to flesh out their characters even more

The power of pink was my favorite episode for some reason because in (Lost Galaxy or Power Rangers In Space. I forget which one), The pink ranger was my favorite and then they introduced the pink psycho ranger. Then after all that, it survived and it just was so good!!

I agree. Mystic Force was the 3rd Power Rangers series i have ever watched. And Koragg quickly became one of my favorite characters in Power Rangers and also one of my favorite fantasy characters. The reason was that it was the first time that we had a villain who fought with honor and placed that above all else. Of course i had seen Villamax in Lost Galaxy before and he too had honor. However Koragg ended up being more likeable in my book. And it did kinda disappoint me that in the end it turned out that he wasnt really a villain. I would have loved for him to defect and cut ties on his own. Regardless Koragg still is one of my favorite villains and characters. He was awesome.

His reveal was pretty terrible though. If what Barone had said about him cutting ties on his own had happened, maybe we've got something akin to discount Magna Defender, which would still be great because MD is the best example of that kind of character. But as is, it's good, but not that great.

I completely agree. Koragg was a great villain and still one of my favorites.

KORAGG is in my sense a great villain as he is a great example of what we can see in old western (amnesic lone cowboy who acts as a mercenary) contrary to Magna defender, at the begining he did not remember his past. And that is what makes him more rich than magna defender who is only consumer by vengeance. And the father son fight is for me one of the most powerfull moment in PR history.

I was hoping the same. A-Team turned their backs on justice just to be "on the winning side". As well, with modern day abuse of power from officers, I figured he'd have a lot to say. Oh well, maybe in an SPD review.

Eugenideddis While it's fascinating that you had a whole team of rangers basically say "nah, evil pays better," they didn't get a lot of development because a) that was a shock, after all, and b) they wanted to pay the other four like extras.

Eugenideddis They were dumb and b squad was always better they had legit powers, better suits and equiptment. I just wouldn't put them in a top 10.

The Alpha Team wasn't developed enough to make them anything more than a really good point of progression for the squad that was supposed to be lower on the food chain. It made for a great episode, but as antagonists they were just one offs. /the symbolism at play was great, and it's something I'll discuss in a future SPD video, but unlike the similar Psychos, there just wasn't enough of them.

I always thought mesgog was more intimidating than any other power ranger villain.

not evil in the sense just too damn scary. I can get that seeing as the guy is mostly skin, have tubes running up and down his body, a metal exoskeleton, and spoke in a voice that probably would shake a young child mind into nightmares for weeks.

He was exponentially more evil if you go back to the first episodes of season 2 of MMPR he was far more menacing, unforgiving and evil. He scared the shit out of Rita and could've been among if not the greatest PR villains of all time.

Master Vile is a villain I don't quiet get. I figured he should be world ending caliber power, since at that point, he was the only villain that was a Master of any kind, but he's just another guy when it's all said and done.

blame the developers because he actually was the boss monster of the sentai the alien ranger costume came from with the ninja and shogunzords. they could have worked that story out but i guess they didn't want to show the ninja stuff too much .

newageBoundhippie Samurais has very few changes that I've heard of, almost all of them for the worse, but that one change adds so much to those characters.

I kind of agree, but Bulk & Skull had good moments and some good character development. Victor & Monty on the other hand are the biggest thing keeping me from enjoying Ninja Steel ( spending half an episode on a fart joke? really Saban? )

Lothor was a tough go, since he was originally in the honorable mentions. I do think his entertainment value is a huge positive, since it fits with the Ninja Storm tenor well, a season inherently more lax than most. But it was what Samurai did with the Deker Dayu relationship that just barely carried him over. It was a legitimate season highlight seeing them surrender their humanity to a Nighlok before becoming Nighloks themselves. Probably the best thing the Neo-Saban era has done with its villains.

The Disney Brain I meant totempole, as she is higher up in the evil empire. She is an empress, and exliptor is a body guard. Did you consider putting Ecliptor and Astronama on the same rank, so you could have added someone else at number 10 and Villamax possibly moves up?

Haha, nice default pic ;) But yeah, anyway you slice it, the Psychos deserve to be top 5. They completely changed the game at a time when "the game" was at risk of being cancelled. They helped save Power Rangers.

I don't think he added too much to Ninja Storm except as a well designed better version of the Generals Lothor used. I would say as far as new Generals coming in and shaking things up, there's at least a few I'd place over him, including Darkonda.

LOLOL, the goofy villains hamming it up was hilarious. Freaking Rita and Divatox just pulling each other's hair, like what the actual hell? LOL. But yeah, when In Space found its groove, it went all in, and gave us incredible stories. They just needed to firmly shave off that High school connection they were still dragging with them through the first bits of the season.
