The only other tip I’d add is to dedicate time from daydreaming. Sometimes I get *over inspired* and feel like I want to do a million things at once and have to sit and marinate in a good daydream session to process it all. I really agree with all these tips and use them myself- I used to feel like an ADD nutter with all the projects I have going on from watercolor, digital art, and embroidery. But I now know that it’s what keeps me putting one foot in front of the other and keeps me from falling into quitting one project out of burn out and frustration. And yes, permission to REST. It’s so important and valuable to your creative spirit🪄

I’m trying to keep my light bright and fall back in love with artmaking. There is a lot of pain associated with it, and being creative, which is like stepping on a mine because I am a Creative and yet not creating. It’s heartbreaking and it makes me feel very disconnected and depressed. These are good tips, and I’ll give it a go. Thank you, Wendy.

Wendy you are like a bright star shining through to all that you reach. Your tips are wonderful and thank you for sharing your thoughts. I used to write in a journal, but didn’t start this year, started an art/ junk journal, bits and bibs but since the beginning of the year I’ve been in a slump mentally and emotionally. I developed Bell’s Palsy last September and it’s taken a lot out of me which happened after my son at 44 was diagnosed with heart disease. He is doing better and I’m still receiving but my whole mental state has been affected. I’ve done one art piece for a friends birthday this year and that is basically it. I’ve helped my grand kids on a project recently, this week took my dog to the park for a short time and brought a huge leaf home because it spoke to me it might be an elm leaf and thought I’d paint it... that is as far as I’ve gotten. Your channel has helped me during this time. Keep shining sweet lady. I love your honesty. I’m 73 now and need a boost and energy. Sending love and hugs from my home to you . 😘❤️💐

Wow Wendy, you were definitely rested after that hibernational (probably not officially English😉) afternoon! The tips flowed very clearly and spritely out of you 🙂 Also a little more quickness in the editing (although I also like your expressive spaces in between the lines now and again 😉) The outdoor footage is stunning and you & James radiate so much love, support and playfulness. It's healing to watch 😌. I can so much relate to your sensitivity. I have been struggling so many years with the intensity of the sensitivity of my being that I was given to live this lifetime. It took me such a long time to understand it is a GIFT instead of a weakness. Being strong in sensitivity is a beautiful thing but challenging in this World when misunderstood. It is very important to be mindful and to listen to your energy levels. That is something I am still struggling with today and your videos help me so much in accepting and honoring my true being. Thank you so much Wendy! 🙏🏻💛

I have found listening to different music, changing my music playlist completely, listening to music like abba, bee gees disco music, sade or soft music from the 70s helps me to be able to be more creative. The type of media you consume must be lighthearted and or enjoyable to watch. Dancing to music helps a lot with my creativity when it comes to making artwork. The more different types of positive media and songs you listen to and really enjoy helps me get my creativity back. This may help you. Trying different drinks, that are healthy, Wearing different types of clothes, looking a different types of colours/textures. As changing certain aspects of daily life help to be more creative as you are taking in new imputs. X finding newness, changing certain things you watch, taking in new things. Hope this may help x

Music is a big one for me...Sade, Cranberries, Natalie Merchant, Rising Appalachia, etc. I create at home so dressing for my intended task and setting up my work area helps to get me in the zone. I think it's touching all 5 senses that helps me...(I'm realizing it as I type this)...... :sight: work area, art set up, nature (open windows) :scent: candles, incense, fresh air :hearing: music, birds chirping :taste: coffee or tea :touch: brushes in hand, the feeling of oil paints, pen in hand. Thank you for addressing the emotional needs of an artist. Sometimes you can't just power through the process. I also find that having a variety of projects going keeps me from getting stuck or over thinking and stressing over a project. I actually tend to have different mediums going. Junk journals, painting, jewelry, and digital assemblage. I can get messy and most of the time my supplies multi purpose but it keeps me from getting bored. I enjoy your vlog so much. I look forward to every episode.

Great advice. What I love about art is that there is no 'right or wrong' - OK so there are better techniques for achieving certain effects within each style and medium but, for me it's not about correctness. It's about uniqueness and freedom of the soul to express itself in whichever way possible. I love your videos🤗💚

Hello Wendy! I've been vloging your art for a while and find it very inspiring and motivating. There is a lot of personality, soul and dedication in him. You are the sunshine for many, even for me, in these crazy times. To stay creative, I do many things you've already described. My tips would still be: Spend time with animals Unfamiliar paths to go Writing letters to friends (journaling) Looking for conversations with people who arouse you interest in wanting to get to know him/her paint /draw in other environments Cooking/baking what you have never cooked/baked. ( new taste) Sports / Yoga to relieve the body Practice gratitude for the little things in life Follow spontaneous thoughts / Travel spontaneously in place Basically looking for new influences in completely different ways. Appealing and irritating all the senses, this makes the thoughts colorful and you get more inspiring abundance in your life. This is my first comment ever on You Tube and I hope the translator has translated everythingperfectly. My English is not the best. I wish you and James a creative, loving and fulfilling time. Please continue to let the sun shine through your soul in such a wonderful way. Best wishes Kati

In our Human Design Blueprint there is a time of waiting and different cycles that we all go through! There are also some of us that need to do lots of things at once but not necessarily get them all finished as it's releasing energy that the people that are fast processors (generators...people here to build and do the work) need to expel! No judgement as we are all here to do different things and each have a YOUnique purpose which is also in our profile xx Thankyou for all the great tips lovely Wendy 🙏🌈🏖

What a helpful video! Thanks so much for putting a lot of thought into it and giving us examples of how you do it. The part that I still have a difficult time with is giving myself a break and then not being hard or down on myself for it after. That part seems essential, and I guess I just have to bring a lot of awareness to it to make the change. Some things that help me when I'm stuck are: using timers and telling myself I only have to work for XX minutes and then I get a break. Setting really small goals for myself for the day that I can easily accomplish. Having an accountability buddy that I check in with-- we tell each other what we're going to do and then report in later and cheer each other on. Also, as a writer, I've found online groups where people get on zoom and "co-work"-- we all stay on camera and do our writing for a set time, and then can chat afterwards. Thanks for talking about this, Wendy!

I can identify with what your saying. I am under so much stress. My blood pressure is in the stroke range and I have had 3 and I have aneurysms in my Brain and the Aorta by my Heart. Home life is awful. I don’t have the luxury of being able to get out of the house due to the fact I’m in a wheelchair, I’m very sick and need an outlet. I used to be very active so it’s been hard,, I have no support. I love watching you, so Thank You for that. ✨💫

Lovely tips, thank you! I agree with all and I would add make simple art, just something that doesnt need too much thinking or planning, abstract art always does it for me, or basic shapes and strokes.

I am the same about needing different works on the go at the same time but I do tend to get obssessed with one oil at a time especially if its going well. You inspired me to go full on with art journalling to have a play space no one else sees which does free me up without the inner critic frowning at me! Love your tips, Wendy, I'm an afternoon into night creative...too slow in the mornings 😊 Blessings x

Fabulous tips, I ask my inner child is their anything she would like to draw and let her use whatever she (I) want. I also encourage her and don't tell her it's bad. This way I can give myself the opportunity and encouragement I need to begin again. 😀😀 however I dont pin my work to the fridge!!!! Lol

I get my most inspiration from walks in Paris or along the beach. I've found that walking slowly you don't miss anything esp in the parks. Clear your mind and never go without sketchbook or camera. Keep in mind they are inspiration walks. Also, I order my photographs from Shutterfly. Free 4x4 size. I am a novice, but I've made creative collages and frame them. I love architecture. Doors and windows. Also grafiti I am so happy to get my watercolor materials. I think I just have to use my good items or I get frustrated and I stop
