Kaante is a cult classic gangster thriller, it was ahead of its time in terms of character looks, dialogue and the way its shot, the first Bollywood film to have a full Hollywood technical crew and there's many differences between Dogs n this, incredible performance by Sanjay Dutt n Mahesh Manjrekar and the music is loved and remixed till this day, must watch!

Sarkar was based on the life of "Bal Thackeray". He was a Godfather-like figure in Mumbai (In terms of power). As I recall, I wouldn't call it a remake by any stretch, but I wouldn't be surprised if the film drew inspiration in parts. I watched Godfather literally decades ago, and Sarkar about when it came out. Little B was pretty good in the movie.

The video mentioned Bollywood remakes from mostly Hollywood original content. But some films in the list were actually Bollywood remakes from other regional languages. Some examples would be Ghajini and Chachi 420. As much as Aamir's Ghajini has its merits, if one has to check out an Indian adaptation of Memento, the Tamil version (also named) 'Ghajini' (also directed by the same director as Aamir's Ghajini) would be a good choice. Furthermore, the stated Indian remake of Mrs Doubtfire - Chachi 420, itself was a remake of another Indian film Avvai Shanmugi (starring Kamal Hassan too) - the latter was the first Indian remake of Mrs Doubtfire.

Most decent 90s Bollywood movies were Hollywood remakes, though the original versions were rarely credited back then. Ghajini is definitely more 'inspired by' a couple of things here and there, as opposed to a proper remake of Memento, and definitely worth a watch.

Kaante (Reservoir Dogs remake) is a truly great movie. I saw it in the theatre and it was so different than we were getting at that time. It should be a must watch for you. But the first movie you should see of Sanjay Dutt is "Vaastav".

Hum Tum was loosely based on Harry Met Sally. I loved Hum Tum. A great rom com with great performances and good music.

I am probably alone but I found Hum Tum to be more similar to Before Sunrise and Before Sunset (it actually released a week before Before Sunset). Instead of a train it's a plane. Instead of Vienna it's Amsterdam. Also, like Ethan, Saif turns author/creator and they meet again at his book release function.

Hum Tum was a good movie. I think it was also the first film to do mass promotions, in newspapers, tv series, everywhere. They integrated the actors from the film into everything they could. Sarkar and Kaante are massively well done movies for their times. I think both still live up to expectations.

Kaante is pretty damn good. Except for the common plot twist it is quite a standalone film in term of character development. And fucking great acting from everyone. Sarkar is great too. It is Leaner Noir version of Godfather with the best of RGVness

PLEASE PLEASE watch the Tamil Ghajini first (it stars Suriya and Asin). It was the film that came out first. Aamir loved the Tamil version when it released, and decided to remake the Tamil version into Hindi. He also retained the same actress (Asin) from the Tamil version and the same director. Love Aamir, but Suriya and the Tamil version were far superior

What no "Partner" in this list? Its actually a decent remake and one of the first that actually paid for the rights. Stars Salman Khan and Govinda, remake of Hitch. Govinda is great in it and was a a bit of a comeback for him. As far as Ghajini goes please watch the Tamil original first.
