Love Nea Smyrni. You got everything there & the center is just a 20 min nice tram ride away or from Sygrou/Fix train station.

These all sound like really awesome neighborhoods. Are there language barriers for English speakers in any of them? I'm learning Greek but my skills are very basic at the moment.

There are many expats living in Athens and some of them don't speak a word of Greek. Being fluent will make this transition easier but it is not a must for the beginning :)

Hi! I am traveling to Athens and the Greek islands the end of august. I have been trying to determine if I should cancel my trip due to the fires in Athens. As you live in Athens, do you recommend travelers cancel trips to athens now? Is it safe for travel?

It should be absolutely safe. The fire is under control in Attica and does not affect the actual city of Athens but rather the north western suburbs. :)

I am currently un Athens. You could see the smoke from the center but not anymore and definitely not at the end of the month, when it will be completely put off. Couldnt find any announcement that the Acropolis is closed.

The rents in some of these areas are quite high. Others not so much. Pensioners are probably not living in some of these areas.

Hi Chris! I wouldn't necessarily place it in the top 10 but it is not a "bad" neighborhood to live either. But it has definitely lost its old glory.

Δεν καταλαβαίνω γιατί το «πήξιμο» στις πολυκατοικίες με τα στενά πεζοδρόμια με τα graffiti και την βρώμα παντού και την κατάληψη παντός ελύθερου χώρου από οχήματα κάθε είδους στις περιοχές που αναφέρονται στο video είναι γειτονιές ενδιαφέρουσες προς εξερεύνιση. Αν το κριτήριο είναι κάποια ανακαινισμένα νεοκλασσικά και τα μεζεδοπωλεία και τα μπαράκια, αυτό είναι άλλο θέμα. Εξαίρεση βέβαια αποτελεί το Νέο και Παλαιό Ψυχικό. Πολλές περιοχές θα μπορούσαν να περιληφθούν. Από Υμηττό, Ηλιούπολη, Βούλα και Γλυφάδα, μέχρι και Φιλοθέη, Χαλάνδρι, Κηφισιά, και χωρίς να πάμε και σε πιο ακριβές όπως Βουλιαγμένη, Εκάλη, Διόνυσο...

Ωραίες όλες οι περιοχές που αναφέρονται και κάποιες επίσης που δεν αναφέρονται. Κατα την γνώμη μου θα έπρεπε να υπάρχει και ένα τμήμα η ένα ξεχωριστό βίντεο για τον Πειραιά και για τις 2 συνοικίες κόσμημα του που κατά την άποψη μου είναι ανώτερες από πολλές της Αθήνας. Αυτες είναι η Καστέλλα και ειδικά η βόρεια και Ανατολική της πλευρά και η Πειραϊκή η οποία και αυτή είναι αποκλειστικά σχεδόν γεμάτη από διατηρητέα κτίρια. Είναι εξίσου ήσυχες με αρκετά καλή συγκοινωνία και το μεγάλο τους ατού η θέα από υψόμετρο και ειδικά την νύχτα βλέποντας όλη την Αθηναϊκή Ριβιέρα είναι κυριολεκτικά η καλύτερη του Λεκανοπεδίου.

για τα σκουπίδια συμφωνώ που είπε η κοπέλα πιο πάνω, αλλά ορισμένα γκραφιτι (δεν λέω για τα ταγκς, συνθήματα ομάδων κτλ.) είναι πολύ καλότεχνα και ορισμένες γειτονιές θα γίνονταν πολύ αδιάφορες χωρίς αυτά. απλά η αλήθεια είναι ότι δεν μπορούμε να έχουμε το ένα χωρίς το άλλο. Ακόμη και η Ρώμη και η Πομπηία είχαν γκράφιτι που έλεγε ο καθένας το μακρύ του και το κοντό του και δεν ήταν απαραίτητα πιο έξυπνα ή ομορφότερα από τα σύγχρονα. Το να γράφει ο κόσμος μαλακίες στους τοίχους είναι αρχαία ενοχλητική συνήθεια και δεν παίζει να σταματήσει έτσι εύκολα δυστυχώς O walls, you have held up so much tedious graffiti that I am amazed you have not already collapsed in ruin (επιγραφή από τη βασιλική της Πομπηίας)

@@mpourmpoulithra2011 κοιτα αν τα δεις σαν συνολο ειναι οντως ασχημα. αλλα μερικες φορες ενα μεμονωμένο ταγκ εχει μια αισθητική αξια οπως π.χ. τα logo των εταιρειών. ισως να εχει συνηθίσει να τα βλέπει το ματι μου αλλα δεν με πειραζουν τοσο πλεον. ή ισως επειδή ζω σε μια γειτονιά που τα παιδιά που ταγκαρουν το ψευδώνυμό τους σε ακυρα μέρη χωρίς λογο τα ξέρω προσωπικά. δεν ξερω, δεν μου φαίνεται οτι ειναι το μεγαλύτερο αισθητικό έγκλημα της σύγχρονης Ελλάδας. αντιθέτως θα εκαιγα ολοσχερως τα 3/4 των απαισιων πολυκατοικιών και των δημοσίων κτηριων της Αθήνας με τα σαπια κλιματιστικά και τις πρασινες τεντες απ' εξω:Ρ

this was really badly done- you dont show the essence of neighbourhoods, you MISSED the main ones to show to foreigners like KOUKAKI and Voula or chalandri , glyfada.. waste of time this video - to look at a bunch of maps. and street pics that all look the same.
