The Chevy’s biggest advantage is the bed extended into the fold down rear seating area; you have the option of either a longer bed or back seats. The functionality of the tail gate is #2. But in both cases, what’s the cost? If it’s more that $2k for both together, Chevy can keep it & I’d go for the Ford.

Just because they are putting large batteries in these trucks does not mean they are efficient. Many will make the mistake of buying these trucks not realizing what it takes to charge them and how long it will take to fully charge them. They are using big heavy batteries that will require a lot of electricity. How many KW hours will be needed to charge and if you are using this for work how often will you need to charge. Then think about how many hours a week you will sit at a charging station. How far is that station from your house. Charging at home? How many days a week will you need to charge the truck and what will it cost you? Edmunds sure as hell doesn’t know.

To charge the long range battery from empty to The basic charger that can plug into your existing 240 v out will take 19 hours. You can install a 48A charging station at home that cuts it to 13 hours . You can install an 80A one that will take 8 hours. (That’s overnight) . Note , that’s from empty to full. But most people don’t drive 300 miles daily. So EITHER charger will be good enough since you’ll simply plug it in nightly when you get home. Most cities will give credits to offset the cost if you install one of the extra cost charging stations. The cost at home for a full charge is about $11.00 at today’s rates. You will You’ll pay a LOT more to fill a gas tank with enough gasoline to go 300 miles. If you’re in a hurry, you can use fast charging station. That will take about 45 minutes. (Lunch break) the cost will vary depending on location. @@Oozywolf What difference would it have made if Chevy announced the Silverado EV specs first? The truck is still better and gets worlds better performance than the Ford Lightning. It ain’t because Ford announced first, it’s because they cheated out and built their first fully electric truck on a ICE platform. It ain’t GM’s fault that the base model Ford Lightning gets such laughable and shifty range, and Ford is charging customers $15k to achieve base model Silverado EV range/performance. 😂

@@mybro727 With current tech, I have high doubts that the Chevy EV can get anywhere close to what they're promising. For 400 Mile Range, you need a huge battery. Huge battery = more weight. More weight, less payload. Less payload... Well, your max towing goes down. Doesn't matter if you can pull 20K, if the load's too much on the vehicle, you can't tow it. So until it releases, I'm calling the Chevy EV as it is... All marketing hype...

All rechargeable batteries slowly lose capacity over time. In the case of electric vehicles that process is pretty slow. A test was done on a 2015 Tesla Model S in 2020 with 146,000 miles and it retained 83% of its power capacity. Not great but not too bad either.
