Definitely agree that Mini Schnauzers are fabulous, highly intelligent dogs who are well suited and trust worthy to leave for reasonable amounts of time. They can be a bit 'barky' if 'positive' training isn't started early to curb the habit. Both of mine have been great at alerting me to strangers but are not 'barkers'.

I have 3 shih tzus and they’re the chillest dogs. Although they need constant grooming, I find them rather independent since they dont need a lot of exercise. The three of them playing together is enough exercise for them. And when I come home from work they get soo energized to rush and greet me before I even step foot inside the door. After a while they’ll just cuddle and chill with me. They’re the best!

I have a longhair Chihuahua she is 31/2 lbs. and she is 13yrs. Old but she is healthy…. She celebrates my home coming when I come in from outside. She plays Soccer ball with her ball… she doesn’t like going outside and that’s ok… I take her outside on a doggy pouch but she does not like walking on concrete. But overall she would be my kind of dog… I adore 🥰 her… her name is Lilly…

My Tibetan Terrier was a key member of our family for almost 17 years. She loved to go wherever I went & sat with her snout on the window sill when I came home from work.❤😊

I agree with Annette Therrien I have a miniature phantom poodle and I had to find just what made her feel secure. She is smart knows when I am leaving and if she will be going. No barking, but she is always so happy to see me come home. For the record I am retired so I am home with her most of the time and she goes with me a lot. No church, doctors offices, hospitals or stores. She travels to friends with me and when she gets older possibly if I go to the store for something quick (no hot cars or long stays in a vehicle).

Hmmmmm... Any animal can be left alone if trained well. I was raised with GSD's, and have had several as an adult. None of mine ever destroyed my furniture, clothing, or home. I worked, and would go home on lunch to let them out. Some days I couldn't. They never peeped or pooped in the house. Everyone has their own opinions, likes and dislikes, however, I'll stick with German Shepherd's.

Interesting however, in my opinion any well trained and loved Dogs can be left alone my experience with Rottweilers , Beagle, Argentine Dogos, Alaskan Husky , German Shepard’s, and Mix Breeds never had any situation with them. Now I have a cute lovable Chihuahua who is so adorable, and smart. Always let’s you know He is family.

what about the Siberian husky ... my favourite dog because I have one and she didn't like being home alone until she was properly trained. Most lovable and loyal dog ever. Plus she isn't yappy like some of those mentioned. Nor does she howl at the moon ... that's a myth.

Nope! Dachshund and Lab are for us great when left alone. Also, Doxies are great travelers. Ours lay down and not a word from them. Great at hotels and camping! Love to fish! I wouldn't have any of the dogs on your list. Too many other problems with them.

People should NOT buy dogs. There are millions of dogs in shelters that would make wonderful pets, including pure breed dogs. If those dogs are not adopted, they are killed. Save a life. Adopt, don’t shop.

How can I possibly take as serious any advise from anyone who hasnt taken the time to learn how to correctly pronounce the names of well known breeds in dog world. Did he just read a script? Probably doesn't even like dogs.

No dog should be left alone for more than a few hours. Not fair to any breed of dog. When we work (e.g. 8 or more hours) they should be place in a "daycare" where they are taken out to play and are walked)...e.g. a Pet Smart that has daycare). Not good to make a dog have to "hold it" for "too many hours" unless it's become habit. My Pug now 5 for the first 5 years "needed" 4 walks a day. (morning, afternoon, after dinner and before bedtime). Now he rarely needs the "before bedtime walk". Can hold it for about 12 hours. Been doing that all year . And I wouldn't have if he still required his 4th walk of the day. I'm actually suprised he can hold his urges that long...we can't. :) But really it's simply not fair I think to leave any dog alone for 8 plus hours a day. Even if they are well behaved. And wont end up damaging our home in anger or boredom. I've always had some one home during the day or have been working from home. We MUST devote time to them. Expect that we can't suddenly decide to go out for 10 hours any more..I have never been away from my dog (3rd dog) for more than 3-4 hours).

NO! Dogs are pack animals - and pack animals are together 100% of the time, they are NEVER alone. If you can't afford a rescue canine companion for your dog you shouldn't have any.
