Great Timing, as I have only just started to look at what I need to possibly get for the Motorhome we are hopefully picking up next Saturday. Got a couple of the items already. The only thing I have bought for the Motorhome is a Camper Sat Nav with a wireless reversing camera. One of the essential we will be getting is leveling Blocks as we'll need them if we are welcome in Scotland this year on the Hebrides, or anywhere place where the ground isn't level. As it was bad enough trying to find relatively flat ground to pitch our tent. Well be also adding a Driveaway Awning so we have extra room to spread out when the weather's not very nice.

Hi Digger Buckett, some great choices there. Remember, no sat nav is infallible 👍👍

Truck satnavs are best. they allow you to put the size of your vehicle on them. then they help you to avoid narrow roads etc. they do cost a little more, but most are large screens with reversing cam options.
@HermanHitstheRoad

Hi Stephen, truck sat navs are great but no sat nav is infallible. They depend on data that might not be accurate. Don't trust a sat nav 👍👍📡🚐

An outside BBQ point is a good addition for the CADAC. Also some corner steadies - like axle stands but made of PVC - really firms the van up.

The Karcher window vac and collapsible buckets great idea. Will look to get these. Can I add, although maybe considered an upgrade, is the Victron battery protect. During lock down I left my interior light on fro a week. Killed the leisure battery. If I had one (i do now), would have saved more that £100. They are around $50.

Hi Richard, great idea but just a thought; can't you turn off all the 12v at one switch? LED lights wouldn't have drained the LB if you had solar. Do you have either LEDs or solar?

Hi two other good items to take with you Motorhoming is definitely a set of levellers and a watering can sometime good to be able to just top up the fresh water tank without moving the Motorhome good video 👍

Hi Mr & Mrs T, some great ideas there but we don't have room for a watering can and since we explore in the m/h we'd fill up on water on our return. I've seen someone walking back and forth filling up on water. It took them an hour, the tap was 50 feet away and they had just arrived. Why they didn't just drive to the tap I don't know 👍👍👍

We to have an older motorhome 1996 pilote without doubt ramps are a must and we also have small folding chairs and they are brilliant as we don't have a large locker and if we did it would be full of wine 😁🍻

Thanks for the video, some good ideas there. The glass and mug storage, what a good idea. I'm already looking for a suitable bit of foam. I have the standard 20 metre hookup lead but I've also got a 10 metre lead. You should always totally uncoil a hookup lead when in use because of the inductive effects of the flowing AC current causing heating of the cable. Trying to "lose" 12 metres of cable when the hookup point is only 8 metres away is always a pain! And of course they can be connected together for those times the hookup point is just out of reach. Don't forget to cover the joining connectors to protect from rain. I bought a TomTom camping sat nav, you program in your motorhome dimensions and away you go, I still keep an eye out just in case. But so far its avoided all the low bridges and too narrow roads, unlike the old one. We had some tight moments with that one! If you're ever in Devon and go to the valley of the rocks at Lynton don't even think going out at the end of it, turn round and go back to Lynton. Going along that road at the top of the valley was the worst, narrowest, with very low trees and nowhere to turn round roads I've ever driven our motorhome along, nightmare! OK in a car, lovely. I'm sure our new Tommy wouldn't do that to us! CharlieG

Hello Fellow Hymer owners. I liked your suggestions of the most useful accessories. I just wanted to say another advantage of using a Satnav is if there is a diversion or you miss your turning, it quickly works out an alternative route - far faster than the Memsahib can do it even if she has doubled up on her HRT. Also, as we venture forth at all times of the year, and live near the Scottish border, we have made some insulated window pads that push into place at night and cut out drafts as well as keeping in the heat. Have you found a use for walky-talkies for reversing and what-not? I was thinking of getting some to replace the 2 bean tins and length of string that we have used up till now. Keep up the good work, Pete

Hi Mark, we made a video on how to drive a motorhome. You can check it out here kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hrx8ZK-myM_MpoE.html Other tips would be: Don't drive too far, drive with in your limits. You don't want to be tired or grumpy when you arrive at your destination. Don't leave dirty water in your grey tank because it starts to smell. We tend to empty our waste when we leave a campsite and add fresh water when we return from a day out. Check out ours and other YT videos on tips and ideas on where to go. We also live stream (first Sat of each month) where you can ask us anything. I hope that helps Ads
