The Wizards and warriors shout out just took me back to memories I hadn’t reflected on in like 25 years, thanks.

When I bought my NES Classic, I almost thought I was wasting my money with the selection of games it had. What caused me to eventually buy it was how fun it was playing the NES when I was growing up. It felt like playing the original console and made me happy by bringing some of those old childhood memories back. What made it even more worth the money is when I found out that you could hack the console and add your own games. When I found out how, I went right to town and added more games to the existing 30... basically every NES game I have ever played. I now have 106 games on my NES Classic and they all work as if they were on the original hardware. I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

R.C. PRO AM was one of my favorite games as a kid.

Quite how Kung Fu didn’t make it onto the Classic, I’ll never know...

One of my favorite games from the NES that I wish was included was Gauntlet.

I love Castlevania II: Simon's Quest. So glad this was included but your list was pretty good. Then reading comments though, lot of good games there too. I know licenses are expensive but dang, this thing should've come with a 100 games.

I wish they had a couple of Disney games in this. Duck Tales and Chip and Dales were surprisingly really good.

Forgot about Ninja Turtles. Loved that game.

Double Dragon should have been included

Contra wasn’t included due to a clerical error. Konami has a whole list they were planning to allow Nintendo to use on the classic mini, but someone missed some check boxes. It is seriously that simple, and very sad. Thank you Hakchi!!!

The lack of Contra was literally a dealbreaker for me. I only tried to get one after it had been hacked. I never would have been satisfied with it without Contra.

1943, Duck tales, and at least one of the Ninja Turtles games should have been on the system.

At 2.4k comments, I can’t imagine someone hasn’t said this, but, I think a lot of your list boils down to licensing. Nintendo didn’t wanna shell out the money to secure the rights to a lot of those games and split the profits with a third-party developers. Also I’m glad to hear that someone besides me thinks Dr. Mario is a waste of time I never like that game

TMNT was a must. Pick between all 4 turtles and the game play was so great .

I never played DuckTales and I keep hearing how good it was, so that would've been a good addition for those who haven't played it, myself included. Also, kid Niki and gunsmoke.

I got Paperboy, rc pro am and Contra in my collection with the original system, I can't believe they weren't included with this new one. I remember playing paperboy in the arcade as well and it had bicycle handlebars instead of controls. That was so cool as a kid

StarTropics 2: Zoda's revenge; Q*bert; Megaman 1,3,4,5,6; Marble madness and an english version of Joy Mech Fight as a bonus would have been perfect to be included on NES classic!

One game that I loved for the NES was Crystalis. I loved LoZ but Crystalis was a much better version of a action RPG but it came out right around when the SNES, so it was forgotten about.

Everyone is hating on Balloon Fight but Satoru Iwata programmed that game when he first started in the industry, and is very much part of modern Nintendo's DNA. The NES Classic didn't "have" to exist, because there's already solutions to playing these games without it. I'm not an expert on every game that's included, but it seems to be a love letter to the people in Ninendo's history.

Chip n' dale Rescue Rangers a fun playing two player game. Loved it when I was a kid.

RC Pro-AM and Battletoads were made by Rare, now owned by Microsoft. You can get them on an Xbox in Rare Replay.

I just got my NES classic a few days ago, and for the most part I have the same feelings about what was and was not included. I do think there are a few others that should have made the cut; Dragon Warrior, Bionic Commando, Metal Gear, 1943, Spy Hunter, NES Baseball, and Double Dribble really needed to be included on the console. Along with that, I wished they had put the first Double Dragon instead of the sequel because the gameplay and movement control were much better, and traded Gradius for Lifeforce due to it being a far superior game. I also think that we could have lived with only two Super Mario Bros. titles, preferably foregoing SMB 2, and leaving out Zelda 2; although it was a pretty good game, the movements were a bit jerky, and that made it frustrating during boss battles.

I would have liked it if they included Rush-n- attack and Spy Hunter.

One reason they may have chosen CV2 over CV3 is because the Famicom version of CV3 uses a custom chip not supported by the emulator used by the NES classic. The Famicom version of Contra also uses a custom chip which may explain why they opted for Super C instead. Good point about Pro Wrestling. It was an in house game so royalties would not have been an issue. Rygar missing is also odd being they included other Temco games. Why they didn't use Donkey Classics and instead chose to include DK and DKjr as separate games is also a headscratcher. If they were insistent on sticking to an even 30 games for some reason Pro Wrestling could have filled the freed up slot without needing to get approval from a 3rd party developer.

I mostly agree with your list Tyler. However, I would’ve included TNMNT due to its insane popularity at the time this game released, plus the game is actually very good. TNMNT 2: The Arcade Game was really fun too but if I had to pick one it would’ve been the original. And lastly, I would’ve picked either Ice Hockey or Blades of Steel.

Great video! One of my all time favorite games for the NES was Rush-N-Attack. Maybe it doesn't deserve to be on this list, but it should at least get an honorable mention.

Why is Simon's Quest included on the NES Classic? Two reasons: 1. It's one of the most influential games of all time. Its fingerprints are all over the Metroidvania genre, as it's the game that directly inspired Symphony of the Night. 2. Two words: Bloody.Tears. Seriously, Simon's Quest has one of the best sountracks in the NES library. There's a reason the song chosen for the best scene of the Castlevania Netflix series.

The thing is, DK & DK Jr have massive nostalgia factors.... Also they do play quite well on the NES, for those who can't go to an arcade or set up MAME

I absolutely loved Maniac Mansion. The fact that any group can be used to beat the game and there's so many different endings made it's replay value through the roof. Yeah, the only bad thing was the pointer. If they could have just done two little tricks it would have made it work so much better: pressing select would take the pointer from the screen to the command list then hitting it again would immediately put it back to where it was and holding B could make the arrow move much faster.

Double dragon, castlevania 3, tmnt the arcade game, ducktales, blaster master, contra, tetris, batman, megaman 1 and my guilty pleasure that probably no one else will agree with but I love and that's Friday the 13th. I just enjoy that game and always have. Those games would have made the nes classic perfect for me

I'll admit, I didn't realize this was a troll video until you mentioned Battletoads. Not only were the characters cheap TMNT knock-offs, not only was the game crap, but it was broken crap. There was a game-stopping bug that made it literally impossible to finish the game in 2 player mode. You really had me going until then, though, with those other reasonable and well thought out choices.

Finishing rygar as a kid was one of my most celebrated accomplishments. With no continues we left the console powered on for a full week. My parents were under strict warning that if they turned it off i would run away.

River City Ransom and Super Dodge Ball. Learned about those games almost by mistake but they are the two NES games I have played the most for sure!!

Nintendo obviously doesn’t care about its customers. They hardly made enough of these consoles and should have made it have an option to purchase and play more games .

Castlevania 2 is one of my favorite games of all times. Also introduced the world to bloody tears, one of the best songs ever in video games.

Just found this channel. I was a diehard Nintendo follower all the way up to the Wii-U! And when I heard they canceled the Wii-U so shortly after it had been released?? Well I spent $700+ on the system, games, a 2nd controller......yeah after the Wii-U got canceled I canceled my loyalty. Traded in my Wii-U towards a PS4. Spent $700 on the Wii-U and didn't even get HALF of it back! But.....I still LOVE Nintendo's old systems. Sh*t I still have a Super Nintendo and a bunch of games! Confession time.....I did wind up buying a Nintendo Switch lite. But I only have like 5 or six games. So I'm still pissed at Nintendo for that but Nintendo was the first home system I played and will always hold a special place in my heart! The old systems anyways, Nintendo GameCube and older. Had a Nintendo Wii and just never seriously got into it. Wound up trading THAT towards the Wii-U.

Love the video, but you're missing some absolutely timeless CLASSIC MUST-HAVES! Games like: The action-packed Action 52 for those who wanted to game on a budget. The entire ensemble of LJN games that were produced in the 80s and 90s. The whole library of Sesame Street and Edutainment games the NES had to offer. And don't forget all those Bible games by Wisdom Tree!

I’m willing to bet Konami had something to do with Contra not being on there. Yeah, I know there are other Konami games on the system, but I imagine they might have been asking for too much money to license Contra, because Konami is a shit company nowadays. I definitely think Nintendo tried, but instead had to settle for Super C. Personally I like Super C better but I’m in the minority - most people prefer the original, and that’s fine. Either way, it’s super simple to mod the thing and add literally every NES game onto it.

The sports titles/fans definitely got shafted with the selection. Bases Loaded, Ice Hockey/Blades of Steel, and Double Dribble. Throw in California Games and Super Spike Volleyball. Great call on RC Pro Am racing and Paperboy. Two games with great replay ability and fun for small groups. Can't take off Simon's Quest though....that game is underrated IMO. A precursor to many of the modern games today(God of War, Darksiders, Zelda), in which its an action/adventure in which you have upgrade/enhance your abilities, explore the world and puzzle solve.

This list sucks, the only 2 that would be in my top 10 are Contra and Castlevania 3. My other 8 would be Solomons Key, Jackal, Ice Hockey, Mega Man 3, Excite Bike, TMNT 2, River City Ransom, and Track and Field II. Honorable mentions for Bionic Commando and Duck Tales, but there are easily accessible remasters of those games that play and look better.

Balloon fight for the game boy was nice though. I don't really remember the NES version. Yes battletoads is a classic! Solid list.
