Did you ever take a look at Bernd Schuster, for me the best and most talented german player ever? He was omnipotent, means as a midfilder he was also very good in defense and attack. Look at the european championship of 1980. Aged 20, he dominated the german team.

My top 3 is neuer muller beckenbauer in that order. I’m surprised people underrate neuer. To me, he is clearly the best GK of all time.

This is a competent list and of course these things are always a matter of judgment, though my list would look a little different. I am fine with the top spots for Gerd Müller, Beckenbauer, Matthäus and Seeler (order can be argued), but I would have found a top 5 spot for the great Fritz Walter. I would probably have all three great German keepers - Mauer, Kahn, Neuer - in the top 10, with Neuer highest, and would find a spot for Philipp Lahm and Paul Breitner, two of the greatest fullbacks ever. Rummenigge, Klinsmann, Netzer, Sammer would not be in my top 10, though the first three would be close. Other players worth of consideration although maybe not quite top 10 are Klose, Völler, Rahn, Overrath, Ballack, Schweinsteiger, Berti Vogts and Thomas Müller.

Paul Breitner was a far superior player to Matthaus who I must say left me rather underwhelmed and who I think was very overrated. Gunter Netzer and Franz Beckenbauer are two of the very few players who bear comparison with the stars of the fifties.

He is not and in Germany there are like 700.000 People with the Name Müller. It's one of the most used last Names.
