Bullett was 1968 but the chase scene with the Mustang and Charger is probably the best ever. The 1970s would have to be Dirty Mary and Crazy Larry. Stephen Spielberg's Duel is the best one on your list.

@ericgatter2830 6 жыл бұрын
Yeah gone in 60 seconds should be the number 1. Here's why 1) they totaled more cars in that chase than any other movie. 2) they shot on sundays because that's when they knew the people who checked for permits had the day off 3) H.B knocked himself out in the scene when he was going into the freeway and slammed the car into the light pole 4) the scene at the car wash was just classic 5) he acted and drove the car no stunt drivers for him. The French connection was cool but the gone in 60 seconds D's back story is way cooler.

@@ericgatter2830 "They totaled more cars in that chase than any other movie." Until Toby Halicki made "The Junkman" - which also totaled an airplane. That it wasn't supposed to. Halicki wound up with three compressed vertebrae that changed the way he walked for the rest of his {sadly, short} life from the final jump over the wrecked cars. And, looking at the film, it looks as if they may have done it TWICE. Also - the light pole? Wasn't supposed to happen. You can see that either Halicki or the other driver missed his mark, they made contact, and he lost control. According to his wife, the first thing he said after he came to was "Did we get coverage?"

and it was based on a true story then in the 80's it was called"the pizza connection". their is only documentarys about the pizza connection. both are about breaking the heroine pipe line.wish they would make a movie about it. Carmine Galante stewing in prison for years lining up all of connections for the Masse based heroine pipeline. and gets a little to big for his own good.

I remember when I was about 12 or so, after the movie Dual had hit the theaters it was on late, late, late night television. Ny father woke me up at like 2:00 am to watch the movie with him. It was on a Friday night, so I didn't have school in the morning and he was working as a respiratory therapist at the local hospital on the night shift, so when he couldn't work one night and he didn't want to watch the movie aloe he woke me up. We shared a lot of these times together and I'll never forget the honor of experiencing them with him. Anyway, the movie was awesome and has remained one of my favorites no matter where or with who I saw it. It's something I want to share with my sone when the opportunity comes!

Well I love firebirds but smokey and the bandit tops that movie no question and a 1977 firebird trans am is the best car ever made you dont buy a rolls royce for speed you buy it for luxury just like you dont buy a firebird for speed you buy it for how beautiful the paint is and the lines and curves of it I could buy amd audi for $84,000 but I'd much rather buy the firebird

God Bless the guy Hallicki (sp?) who had the passion and vision to pull off this film, the way he did it, on the budget he had, using friends as actors, his own address in the script, etc. And the remake SUCKED.

Toby Haliki was killed in 1989 performing a stunt in one of the many sequels. Imagine what he would have produced by now, had he lived...
@CaptnPhillips
@CaptnPhillips 4 жыл бұрын
Toby had Jimmy Jines build most of the stunt cars in his film. Jimmy owned California Customs in Bellflower, Ca. and was a personal friend. Jimmy claimed that he built 4 Elinore Mustang's but, only actually used 1 of them. That's right. The Stang he starts with at the beginning is the same Stang that limps into the car wash at the end. Jimmy built all the Cadillacs that get wiped out at the dealership scene. Said he got them from Toby's junkyard and not one of them had any drivetrain in them. Just a few things I can remember about the filming of the greatest car chase flick to date IMHO.

The blue minivan that gets destroyed in Mad Max was actually the director's (George Miller) car, he sacrificed it for the scene.

Robert McLeod - yep. He donated it because the film's budget was almost exhausted. And instead of using actual paint, they used milk, so as not to stain the road. All cop cars in the film were 1974 Ford Falcon sedans, sourced from a local Ford dealer in Melbourne. Max's V8 Interceptor was a supercharged 1973 Ford Falcon GT coupe (with the front end from a '77 Ford Fairmont). The car the Night Rider (aka Crawford Montizano) stole & crashed was a 1972 Holden Kingswood. Whilst driving, he quotes lyrics from a 1976 AC/DC song, "Rocker". A total of 14 vehicles were destroyed in the filming of the stunts. One of the stunt drivers in Mad Max was Phil Brock - brother of legendary Australian V8 racing driver Peter Brock (R.I.P.) "Look Fif, I'm scared. Any longer out there, and I'm one of them!" "Better send a meat truck - Charlie's copped a saucepan in the throat!"
