Yeah I thought Paul Gilbert always played on short-scale guitars, but his Flying V seems full-size. Also I believe 24 frets do change the neck scale and makes some stretches much harder.

Dave still butthurting from metallica, Also playing hard ass riffs doesnt mean its a perfect song, too many simple songs are 10x times better, metalheads and metal artists has to know that
@Krangeris
@Krangeris 6 жыл бұрын
Yup, hard-ass riffs and solos don't mean the song is better. However, using hard-ass techniques gives you a wider choice, letting the song sound exactly as the artist wants it to. Plus, song sounds more original. Lastly, if I had to choose between a song with a guitar solo (difficult) and a song without solo (or some easy Seven Nation Army solo), i would definetly choose the difficult one. Difficult riffs often do sound better.

I’m surprised Shawn Lane wasn’t on this list, namely the part of his instructional about achieving an outside sound, where he does diminished triads on one string without tapping. There’s an interview with Paul Gilbert where he says he’s the most terrifying guitarist of all time and plays the riff with two hands instead of one.

Jonathan Sefcik 30 years ago Buckethead entered a guitar contest, Guitarist sent their cassette tapes from everywhere. Buckethead played bed time music (jingles for childeren) He did not win although he was second place . The guy who won the contest was from Japan. What the judges did no't know was the fact that Buckethead played both guitar parts at the same time once. From what I heard the only reason buckethead didn't win was because the judges thought he over dubbed..

Hey Stevie, I’m not sure if other guitarists count this as a big stretch but in Ozzy Osbourne’s Bark at the Moon right at the end of the opening riff you have to bar the tenth fret on the b and g strings with your fourth finger while you’re playing the fifth fret on the d string with your first finger.

In my opinion, one of the most hardest so gs to play with small hands is My Way by Limp Bizkit, like, Wes Borland did some weird chords in the chorus part, and there is a part where he streches his finger from fret 2-A to 5-D and 7-G and goeas all the way to the frets 10-12 and 14 following the same pattern but changes the string he playes on with that pattern, Limp Bizkit is pretty underrated

I’ve struggled with the gothic octave by George Lynch. My fingers are not quite long enough so I had to alter it and make it into a tapping lick. George Lynch is a freakishly good guitarist so it’s really hard to play some of his licks and solos but studying them will definitely take your skill to a whole new level.

My technique for long streches that I use in my solos that have 5 to 12 fret stretches is put my thumb as a another of my fretting fingers and use my thumb on the 5th fret and my middle finger on the 12th fret Just like how dave mustanie does the technique in that last song And for hot for teacher I use the typical index to pinky technique, just I practice it til it doesn't hurt, just like my downpicking And I have pretty small fingers because I am actually a minor
