Because given the reputation of human characters in the franchise, like say Sam Witwicky and Rad White (Just to give examples that aren't on the list), I'd feel as though I'd get a lot more complaints as to not putting them on the list. Especially in Kicker's case as he is considered to be one of the worst human characters ever put in the franchise, due to the reasons I mentioned in the video. Even if Energon didn't have all of its story problems removed, it still wouldn't change the fact that Kicker is a terrible character. In fact, the only one that gets more hate would be the previously mentioned Sam Witwicky, mostly because that it seemed that the first three Bayformers movies focused on Sam, even though his purpose to the overall story line was minimal at best. Even if you ignore all that, his characterisation is all over the place, jumping between intelligence and maturity levels making him seem just like a broken mess of tropes rather than a fleshed out character in general

I could have worded it better. I think what I was trying to say was that June didn't really serve all that much of a purpose in the show. You could have removed her and it would have made no impact on the show's quality

Spike was good because he was young enough to seem like an older brother to the cast, but old enough that he didn't need a parent around all the time.

I'm just disappointed in your reasoning on this after enjoying your game reviews. In G1 the Quintessons constructed the Transformers as slaves. There's very little mention of Primus as anything more than a spirit that can possess people-- like Emirate Xaaron-- so there is no strange overtone of giant machine gods farting out the Transformers. Since I'm old, that's where I'm coming from. It only stands to reason that there would be entertainment units sold as well--- so the stripteasy and feminine aspects of Thunderblast seemed perfectly normal to me and a nice change from the hardcore badasses or psychos the Decepticon females had been shown as previously. It's hardly the first time we've seen robo breasts-- Beta and Octane's stripper both had them on proud display-- orby and shiny. Rattrap in the Beast series says there are topless dancers on Cybertron, and then in a fun invert of that one of the male Cybertrons in the japanese Beast series is actually an exotic dancer who weaponized his hip shake to mesmerize his enemies. The anime-style transformations aren't my favorite, granted (If they're going to have them, I'd prefer something that was really tech heavy like the symmetrical docking animations from GaoGaiGar). I prefer the immediate ones from G1, because I want more story and less recycled animation. But at least Thunderblast's gave us something else to look at and kinda sorta made me chuckle that she was the Decepticon version of Sailor Moon. But this focus on femininity and romance as a reason to hate Thunderblast just comes across as uncomfortable to me. (It always strikes me as strange that the robots are allowed to hate by some fans, but not love. It's worrisome. If one can experience pain and rage, it's only normal that one would experience pleasure and affection.) While I could see your complaint if all Decepticon females were patterned like that, they aren't. There's variety. Thunderblast is kind of a regency style character-- young female who manipulates the men in her life while trying to figure out who she really wants and what she can get from them--- but she is the first of her personality type in the Transformers cartoon universes-- where you had Decepticon badasses like Nightbird, Strika and Black Arachnia-- and psychos like Scylla-- preceding her. If you count the toys, comics and the japanese comics, there's more-- even a soft mommy figure in the Cons in the form of Esmeryl who saves the Decepticon children from going to death camps run by the Autobots by crying and begging on her knees. But still no one quite like Thunderblast. So she's a silly young adult who can't make up her mind, it's not like that's not noticed in setting and commented on. It's not like Snowcat in Energon where his ineptitude goes unpunished for no discernible reason. Please-- Hate her because he name is goofy for her altmode, build and powers. Hate her because she's indecisive (and then point out other indecisive people you dislike, like Moonracer, Mirage, Beachcomber, Octane or Thundercracker, etc). Hate her because her paint scheme is unforgivably drab and she blends into Megatron's armor when she's perched on his lap (I thought it was cute, but it might irritate you)... but don't hate on her because she brought some diversity to the cast and female Decepticons in general. Not every woman needs to be a badass to earn the right to be present in media. There are a great many male characters who aren't badasses and contribute to the setting (G1 Hound is a pacifist, as an example. On his tech specs none of those gun things he has are actual weapons. They're all tools or holographic equipment. He can barely slap at Rumble on the show, or wrestle with Thundercracker and he's voiced by the guy who was Rabbit on Winnie the Pooh. Basically the same voice with the phaser filter over it.). It would be extremely dull if everyone had to be the same. (A lot like Energon, where most the characters were universally annoying--- even if I did love Mirage's crush on Galvatron. Pink sparkly hearts and all! Because it was unique and was kind of a nod back to G1 Mirage who was unconvinced of the Autobot cause.) For my part: Thunderblast is also a boat, which earns her design immediate props from me. I love boat alts and have a comprehensive showing of the Decepticon Navy in my collection (and Thunderblast is right there with the Admiral and all the rest).
