Yeah, but FIA was ordered to push another driver..... you know, the one claiming to be the first one from the working class. Even though Schumacher's father was a brick layer. And Alonso's father was a miner. While LH's father was an IT manager with a high salary. Some "working class"...

@@kahnbr you didn't know that? Compared to Michael and Fernando, Lewis came from the richest family. His dad was an IT manager. He was earning a lot. They invented a story that his dad "had 3 jobs in parallel". And later they even upgraded it to "4 jobs". I expect it to be "5 jobs" next year. But when you ask which were those jobs, there's no answer. Because it's just a story for the media. While MSC and Alonso really came from working class. Brick layer and miner. Doesn't go lower than that. But unlike LH, neither MSC nor Alonso found it tasteful to brag about it. However, the one who came from the upper middle class is constantly bragging about being from "working class". I guess to make himself look better.

I'm 53, been watching this sport since the seventies, 40+ years... to my mind, Schumacher was the best. Absolutely the best.. Senna was the peoples champion, and rightly so, but Schumacher was so supremely talented that it's hard to argue with him being the greatest of all time... any weather condition, any tyre condition, if the car still moved he had it taped, even being stuck in 5th gear ffs... the rainmeister they called him... When Schumacher was in his prime, he could do anything, anything at all, he could do magic and often did. Keep battling Michael... we won't forget you...

@@dkz00 In fact, Rubinho had plenty of talent to go head to head with Schumi, Mika etc. Great examples are Donington 93 (in the third race of his career, he went from 12th to 4th in the first lap driving a Jordan) and Germany 2000. I think he needed to be more "tough", in the sense of imposing himself, saying: I know my potential and I will fight for my space. That was what Senna did at McLaren and there was no 1st or 2nd driver between him and Prost. It was the two of them fighting for every inch. Maybe Rubinho thought he could get around the situation. But Ferrari had already decided who would have priority

Schumacher went from a team he won 2 titles in a row with, to a team that hadn't won in the sport for over 2 decades. He helped to build the foundations of that team over the next 3 years and then went on to dominate with that team for the next 5 years. He helped and was a crucial part in building their success. He also came out of retirement and helped developed Mercedes into what they are now before Hamilton took the seat He was in. Brawn himself said Schumacher had an immense and crucial part to play in developing the car and team into what it was to dominate the sport with Hamilton at the wheel. Schumacher has and always will be the greatest F1 driver the sport has seen, alot don't like him, but anyone with common knowledge of F1 won't dispute that. Hamilton is a great, that can't be disputed. But he is not the greatest of all time. Love or hate him, Schumacher was the greatest. Oh to answer about others with poor equipment, Schumacher also has the most wins in a non championship winning car even though he has less wins than Hamilton, further proof Hamilton is only great with the greatest car against the other greats records.

Totally agree with you! Whatever happens in F1 and no matter how many talented and successful driver there are to come, Schumacher will forever be the hero in F1. Coming from family having no money to buy him into racing, it was his pure talent and his hard work. His determination and his technical and engineering knowhow where the keys, because is was so much involved in developing and tuning the cars, like no one before. People say, that he all the attention in the Ferrari team and that it wasnt fair, but it was Michaels success to bring Ferrari back to a wining team having a winning car. He took the risk anf joined Ferrari, when there was no success for many many years. He contributed his knowledge and formed a succesful team for many years. It was all his success. One of the biggest compliments I ever heard, came from Gerhard Berger. When Michael went to Ferrari, Gerhard joined Benetton and sat in Michaels car for his last season. Gerhard therfore was a very experienced driver and he once admitted, that he barley was able to control or tune this car. It was so hard to drive that he had to took his had off to Michael driving this car at the limit. We will never know, what 1999 would have been or what would have been, if he stayed just one more season. With all he was as driver, he was outstanding

So much of his career centred around Spa, his debut was there in 1991, his first win in F1 in 1992, (controversially) disqualified from winning in 1994, won from 16th on the grid in 1995, won by a country mile in 1997 thanks partly to an inspired decision to start the race on intermediate tyres as opposed to the rest of the field being on full wets, collided with David Coulthard in 1998 while trying to lap the latter (possibly a factor costing him the championship that year), beat Alain Prost's record of 51 wins by winning in 2001 and finally, securing what would be his seventh and last championship title there in 2004

Those of us, who saw Schumi enter F1 and work his magic, including transforming the Ferrari team from a clown show with an occasional flash of brilliance to an unbeatable juggernaut, can consider ourselves lucky for having witnessed such motorsport greatness...sure Senna and Ham are also great, and I would have liked to see all three drivers pitted against each other on equal terms, but that can never happen, and we must consider each for the era and equipment and against the competitors they drove. All I can say is that I couldn't keep a dry eye while watching this, thinking of how many times he was at 18kPRM and 200mph, and lived, and shined, only to have that stupid accident while skiing... I've been a Schumacher fan since I was a kid. I remember the moment when I found out that we share our birthday. What an honor, to share birthdays with my childhood hero. I can now only wish you a happy 50th birthday, Michael. The man shaped and revived Ferrari. They touched the heavens with a kind of success no one had ever seen before. Now, everytime we associate 'Ferrari' with the pinnacle of motorsport, with this powerful, legendary team, it is because of him. For what we're seeing now, and according to such big names as Ross Brown and Toto Wolff, he was crucial in laying the foundations of Mercedes' current success, the most dominant team in the last decade. His work ethic, absolute professionalism, perfectionism and atention to detail changed F1 forever. His amazing, incredible talent, pace, determination, commitment, competitiveness, pure desire to win, made him (as I read in another comment) the epitome of a champion. He was the pure definition of a champion. He's an absolute legend, and in my humble opinion, The Greatest of All Times. Keep fighting Michael.

Incredible talent, fierce commitment, single minded focus on best result in any given situation and above all his love and passion for this sport is unmatched In 2006, his engine gave up while leading the race prior to finale in Brazil, robbing him of potential season victory. Everyone in his team was so dejected but he came to the paddock and was cheering them up. I was so shocked pleasantly ... in his final race year back then ... he was so unaffected by cruel luck. And then again in Brazil, had a puncture, dropped to last position and then had a drive of his life to finish 4th ... simply amazing. My favourite sportsman by miles

You can say what you like about Michael Schumacher, people call him a cheat but all he did was attack and defend aggressively, which if you look back through the history of f1 they all did it from fangio, Clark, senna,Prost it’s called racing, look at other motorsports where they constantly barge each other off the track like touring cars or the gt series. Michael Schumacher was one of my heroes and it’s so sad what happened to him because he is without doubt one of the greatest f1 drivers ever,I know he won his last 2 titles quite comfortably but the 97/98/99/00 seasons he shouldn’t have even been in contention really as the Williams in 97 and mclaren in 98/99/00 was a far superior car but that’s what he did,he won when he shouldn’t because he was an absolute master of getting every last thousandth of a second out of the car. If Lewis Hamilton beats all his records which could happen,I still believe in the same car there’s no one to touch Schumacher,he’d wipe the floor with all of them...keep fighting Michael 🤞👍

I dont care what people say. Michael will always be the GOAT! Qualified P7 on his debut in a Jordan while replacing another driver (best qualifying result for Jordan that season) Went to Benetton (4th best team in the grid) and won two world titles with them (the first titles for Benetton ever in F1) Went to Ferrari (third best team at that moment while having contract proposals from the top teams like Williams and McLaren, but went to Ferrari instead) and became the face of the Italian brand by building his own team and helping mechanics by himself on his own car and giving Ferrari their first F1 titles in more than 20 years! He did something that no other driver has ever done before and did that TWICE! If Michael took the “easy” route, he would be a 10+ world champion easily.

Their number 4 moment, Schumacher’s win at Hungary in 1998, was the best race craft I’ve seen in my entire life. Brilliant call strategically from Ross Braun, and then what were essentially qualifying laps for almost the entire race from Schuey. I think he even had an off at one point, because he really was on the edge every single lap. McLaren were so ridiculously superior to everybody else at the beginning of that year. If my memory is correct, David Coulthard won the first race in Melbourne, by lapping every single car except his teammate, Mika Hakkinen. The devolopment of the Ferrari that year was nothing short of astonishing, and evidence of how Schumacher was the greatest, not only for what he could do on the track, but also for how he could develop a car and galvanize a team. That performance in Hungary was was the absolute epitome of the brilliance of Ross Brawn and Michael Schumacher. I’m so thankful to have witnessed it.

One of the things that made Michael so great was his dynamic ways of completing races, and winning them, tackling so many variables that would leave most drivers of today in the rear. He handled challenges better than anyone I’ve seen drive a race car ever

Drivers today moan to much instead of getting on with it, slow pit stop poor qualifying or get told to do another strategy and complain it couldn’t work Schumacher gets told he’s got 19 laps to make up 25 seconds and goes ok thank you, and sets about doing it

Well lets be fair. Lewis is a great driver. But's he not a schumacher. let's be realistic. Fact is, Fernando alonso was and is the most recent legend of the sport we have seen. Schumacher, for me is the all time biggest legend we have seen. Now we have Lewis... well he's an excellent driver. He's not a legend of the sport. He's never done anything incredible apart from giving up when things go against him. And the fact is, every driver on the grid are all excellent drivers. just like lewis. and would all win just like lewis in the machine lewis has. And Lewis will probably beat Shumachers records. but he will never ever be a legend because he's a quieter and has never been able to drive fast unless the car is fast. THis is what makes legends. Fast drivers in a bad car. Lewis... vettle also... excellent drivers. But not legends becasue they are only fast IF the car is fast. Legends... they make bad cars fast cars. That's what legends are made of.

@@martin3288 Senna done the same as schumacher. So you have to balance your views young man. Balance is key. Critical and emotionless thinking. you can't let personal feelings get the better of you. The best of the best, the likes of senna shumacher etc etc. they stopped at nothing to succeed. I respect that. But what makes them legends was their ability to drive anything. Look at alonso also. His win stats are not nearly as impressive as some others. But his status as a legend who can drive anything and drive it fast is established beyond question. Kimi could possibly come into the legends conversation also. and he's only won the title once.

Schumi was a outstanding Driver, always at the limit. But what him made so special is that he was also an awesome mechanic with technical understanding. He pushed every Team to the best with his knowhow. If he hasn't that accident in 2013, he surely would be an excellent Team Manager yet.

Michael was committed 100% to win. That's what cost him a lot of sympathy points from both, viewers and drivers. But gained him title after title, record after record. He wasn't placed in a superior car - he created a superior car. He took any chance he saw, even when it went wrong. It was worth it to him. And he made mistakes. Those would have been accepted made by other drivers, but lacking sympathy points, he was painted as a bad person. And regarding Senna: it was Michael who chased him in his last races, gave him a real headache and forced him to give his very best - or lose to a newcomer. There will never be another Senna or another Michael, both of them were great at their time and both deserve to be on par in terms of respect. But that inch more goes to Michael. He truly is the GOAT.

I seem to remember in Spain '96 that his engine was only firing on 9 cylinders as well? What a drive. He clearly had fun that day, I remember the controlled power slides too. It was inspirational, and made everyone else look like a school boy. That car was a dog by all accounts, but Michael made it punch well above its weight. What an absolute legend. Numbers and records aside, he will always be the best racer there ever was, in lesser cars he's beaten other champions in far better machinery. Since Michael, who else has won anything in anything less than the best car? What a Hero. What an inspirational man. What a blessing is was to watch you race. Thank you. #KeepFightingMichael

I’m 17 years old, and Brazil 2006 was the first race I truly watched with my dad from start to finish. You can tell who my favorite driver was from that moment forward, and the devastation on 5 year old me’s face when I saw that he was retiring.
