I really enjoyed The Iron Claw and Godzilla Minus One. I haven't seen The Holdovers yet but planned too. The Killer was good too.

I liked The Killer as well and got to see it in the theater.

good list. didn’t enjoy The Iron Claw or Oppenheimer. Air surprised me. Ben Affleck annoys me but I enjoyed that film. Didn’t see Wonka but surprises me if people didn’t expect a musical - they’ve all been musicals. Poor Things was great. Holdovers was good too. Very kinda predictable but enjoyable. But surprisingly for me Godzilla Minus One was best movie I saw from 2023. Best Godzilla ever made. That dude knew exactly how to make it work. I heard someone say about it that it’s still a great movie if you take Godzilla out of it and that’s true and that’s why it’s so good. Side note: why do all these DVDs come with slipcovers these days? What’s the point? I get sometimes they have different artwork than the actual case but seems so pointless. I don’t like them.

Yes, when slipcovers were first introduced nobody knew what to do with them, but they’re a big deal now with collectors. I agree, it used to be that I would only keep them if the cover underneath was different. I’m not one of this people that will pass up on a used movie just because it doesn’t have a slipcover or if it was bought online and it’s supposed to have one and it didn’t come with one. I wouldn’t be surprised if Oppenheimer wins best picture, but it will probably go to an Arthouse movie. 😂

Yes, it was a big return to form from Alexander Payne and Paul Giamatti was really great.
