Blanchett will be up on that stage again, she has the talent. Yeoh will be up there again, next year presenting. This isn't the first Oscar she lost due to reasons... Hopefully it will be the last.

@@dinocub1 Ask that question to the Academy when they awarded Meryl Streep and Frances Mcdormand despite having the weakest performances on their categories. Cate's performance was masterclass and everyone who has watched the movie knows that she totally deserved to win.

She has mastery over her craft. In TAR she spoke German like it was her 1st language. It was a masterclass really. It's a shame Cate Blanchett got snubbed for TAR, she was more than deserving of her 3rd win. Frances McDormand and Meryl Streep's 3rd wins were underwhelming but Blanchett's could have been well deserved. Still, that doesn't take away the fact that she is the Best living Actress working today.

Elvish? I mean her whole narration in LOTR's prologue gives me goosebumps. Nobody could possibly say the word "power" with such inflections of evil overtones. I can not imagine anyone else doing that role.

I like Cate's Australian accent in her early films like "Paradise Road" and "Oscar and Lucinda". Even in her early roles, one could tell that Cate was going to have a stellar career.

Cate Blanchett is her generation's Meryl Streep and Katharine Hepburn. I was so shocked when the Oscar's gave the best actress award to Gweneth Paltrow, Cate's Queen Elizabeth was far above Paltrow. As with Meryl Streep I would be inclined to see her in a movie, even if the topic was not one I was a fan of, just to see their acting.

@Ms.Mojo I first thought Meryl Streep was the Daniel Day Lewis of women actors. Meaning they literally transform and "ARE" that character. Nope it's most definitely Blanchett. She has a PH. D in Story telling at it's finest.

An absolute master of her craft. If anybody deserves to be on what they call the "A" list it's Cate Blanchett. I'm Australian and it kind of spins me when I see her interviewed speaking in our natural accent. She's so polished when she works but she's an Aussie. I don't know how she does it. I guess that's why they say she has a mastery of her craft.

Her Hepburn accent in The Aviator is an impersonation (like done in an SNL skit) and belongs to the bottom of the list. She also copied the mouth movements of Katherine that it looks like a caricature - quite unnatural. But she acted very well though. I think her best accent work is in 'Irish' and 'Elizabeth'.

Sorry, but I don't think Cate Blanchett's English accent in Notes on a Scandal is very good and I am British myself. In terms of Australian's Toni Collette's accent in Miss You Already (2015) and Wanderlust (2018) or Judy Davis in A Passage to India (1984), One Against the Wind (1992) and Page Eight (2011) are better. Also, her Scottish sounds more English TBH.

When you address to people's unapologetic honest criticism that doesn't go with the political correctness trend referring to the issues going on in political award shows that do not care about quality and art anymore as "microaggressive racism" you lost the arguement already! That racism card has been used too much already by people who have no valid argument for favoritism, inclusivity and pitting awards dear that has list it's meaning, come up with something new next time.

She didn't not win because she was not as good as Michelle, Michelle's performance left us with a bit of hope for the future and I think that we needed that this years, hence 'All Quiet' not winning the big Oscars.

I know it's subjective but Yeoh's performance doesn't come close to what Blanchett has done in TAR. Cate did not win cuz she didn't have a strong narrative and having won 2 already, it was time for another POC actress to be awarded. Michelle Yeoh was excellent in EEAAO but the Oscars are not about merit of performances alone, you need a narrative, strong campaign behind it.

I disagree with the New Orleans accent. The true accent there is definitely not southern-sounding. There’s a mixture of accents, many that sound closer to a Brooklyn accent.
