My son is 25, and I’ve told him that if he ever breaks the law for anything major (not like jaywalking or what have you), that I will let him be arrested and face the consequences. There was one case where a plaintiff was suing the defendant, who happened to be a lawyer, and the defendant wouldn't stop being obnoxious. He said before they were sworn in, "You people ought to lean back. When (the plaintiff) swears to tell the truth, lightning strikes". It was just apparent that he was just a bully who was abusing his powers as a lawyer.

How the hell did the 21 year old not get arrested and tried for illegally taking a minor over state lines?!? I knew a guy who was in the military and drove his friend (also in the military), to pick up a minor in one state and drove them both numerous states away. Both men were discharged from the military. The guy who had been talking to this girl, and planned their “escape” was charged with illegally taking a minor across state lines (not sure what else he was charged with or what it all entailed), while the guy I knew (the driver), was charged as an accomplice. I don’t know exactly, as I hadn’t seen him in years, and was just surprised to see him mentioned in a kidnapping article in the paper. But yeah, I’m going to have to track down this episode in full to see if he faced any legal consequences and why he was suing her parents.
