The death of Batgirl, The Joker striking Harley and then pushing her out a window, Darkseid killing Dan Turpin and Tim Drake killing The Joker.

The Joker pushing Harley Quinn out the window. That scene was so messed up. All Harley Quinn wanted was to impress the Joker. However, no, it never happened. Even though at least the Joker sent her flowers at the end. It's still messed up that Harley went back to the Joker, aka her puddin. The only time he was nice was in the Return of the Joker film. They both worked things out but towards the end. Harley Quinn reforms and marries somebody else. Anyways, Joker and Harley Quinn aren't relationship goals and shouldn't be till this day. People need to watch this as an example of how bad these two are for each other. What a violent episode till this day. That would not fly years later.

The whole flashback sequence of Return of the Joker is permanently seared into my brain as the darkest moment in all of the animated Batman series. The mere thought of Tim Drake, who is only twelve years old in this continuity, being tortured by The Joker and Harley Quinn for over 3 weeks to the point of a literal insanity is heart breaking. It is also, in my mind, the best and most deserved Joker death as he is killed by his own creation.

I fully agree. It was so violent they even had to alter the scene so that Joker accidentally electrocutes himself instead after Tim merely pushes him backward onto a water puddle. We don't see the actual scene until the movie came out on video. It also makes no sense to exclude this scene after posting it on the thumbnail to this video!

Joker's Death scene in the movie was changed. Tim pushing Joker backwards and Joker getting tangled in electrical cables and wire with water of the floor and accidently pulling the lever and electricuting himself is not how he dies in the movie anymore. Instead Tim simply shoots Joker in the chest with the bam flag from the prop gun, killing him. I much prefer the original version. It is way more effective. Warner Bros should change the movie back to the original version of that part of the movie on HBO Max.

The epic BEATDOWN Superman put on Darkseid in the episode after Dan Turpin's death was amazing. That episode will always be my favorite

Turpin's death still gets me even all these years later. The fact that Darkseid did it solely out of spite and later on didn't even remember who Turpin was just makes it all the more tragic.

Say whatever you want about Snyderverse Darkseid, this scene 4:04 will always encapsulate Darkseid for me. In a room filled with most of DC's greatest villains, the moment Darkseid shows up, you can see the blood rush away from all their faces. The DC Animated Universe knew that sweet spot of not treating their audience like kids even though they were a "kids' show", but not being too overly adult that it came off as middle-schooler edgy.

Clayface absorbing Annie was one of the most gruesome and saddest moments I've ever seen in Batman, I personally wonder how it would've played out if Robin had managed to destroy Clayface had Batman not interfered.

Wasn't she already a part of Clayface? She was "born" after Clayface fell apart during The Adventures of Batman and Robin. That was part of the Holiday Knights trilogy of episodes where only Robin appeared.

The episode in batman beyond called "Earthmover" the antagonist became a monster through some really gruesome means. It's an easy miss but still thought it was worth the mention.

Batman Beyond really upped the dark level. Inque in particular had some really good "death screams" that were chilling -- even if she did come back.

The Death of Barb in the "Over The Edge" episode may have ended Batman if it ever happened. The Wayne family were only allowed to play hero since deaths were not connected.

They should do a separate video for Top 10 Most Violent Moments in the DC Animated Universe Movies. I know some of those were more violent and brutal. Not sure where it would rank, but in the Injustice movie, Superman killing the Joker by doing a "fatality" by punching a hole through the Joker's chest (pretty bloody as well) would most likely make that list. Also, they completely ignored the Harley Quinn TV series, which is WAY more bloody and violent than most on this list.

Most violent for me was Galatea getting electrocuted and left in that catatonic state. I believe that if the DCAU had gone on, we would have seen Galatea possibly return but as the hero Power Girl since Supergirl was in the 31st Century with the Legion of Super-Heroes.

The one that stays with me is from Justice League unlimited where three of the Justice League members went into the future. The scene is when the future Justice League members were actually brutally killed before Batman and Green lantern reset time. Another one was in Batman Beyond where Terry tried to track down Ace after he was recaptured by the man who put him in a dog fighting ring and Terry came up against his experimental canine where it shredded the bat suit and tossed him around like a rag doll. Just as unlimited actually had another one where the general charmed himself into a metahuman to take out the Justice League but only came up against humans about no special powers only devices and on effects that gave them the powers and abilities like Star girl, The shining night, vigilante and green arrow. Any fight between Batman and raz al ghul always is brutal. The battle between Superman and Captain Adam in the first part of the season finale of Justice League was also pretty brutal. There are a lot more that I can say.

Great collection of moments. I absolutely LOVE the DCAU. Batman The Animated Series debuted right before I turned 21. Although I didn't watch every single episode when they've aired, I've since seen every episode of every show except for the Zeta Project. My pick? Darkseid killing Turpin. Regarding Clash, I didn't notice at first is the fact that Superman had Billy gagged after turned him back. For some reason that's hysterical to my friends and I 😊

I would absolutely add the Batman / Mutant Leader fight from Legends of the Dark Knight, season 3 BTAS. Michael Ironside takes a break from Dsrkseid and plays the older Bruce. It's a short fight, but surprisingly brutal for WB. Bones break and everything.

Missed out on quite a few actually. Victor Fries suicide in batman beyond, the No Fear episode in the new batman and Robin ( features a shocking amount of violence) and any of the villain deaths in batman beyond

There's a few in Young Justice. Not sure why a lot of them were in the Batman Animated series. Honorable Mention: Stone to Steel, Young Justice. Before Victor Stone became Cyborg, he was a star athlete with a 4.0 GPA. One day he chewed out his neglectful father Silas Stone as he was working on a piece of alien tech called a Father Box, Vic caused the explosion on accident and the explosion virtually destroyed Vics body. And it was put on display in full gory fashion. His arm and legs are gone. His eye is gone. A majority of his flesh has been burned off with exposed muscle and bone and we can see his beating heart through his destroyed ribcage.

I love seeing superman vs captain marvel/Shazam fighting and it was so hot seeing the females superheroes fighting each others in justice league unlimited. What about green arrow touching a listens to wild cat about underground fighting to the extreme, by pretending to be die in justice league unlimited.

Few people seem realise that Return of the Joker takes place AFTER Darkseid's final invasion in JLU and was (unintentionally) *predicted* by Barbara's nightmare in "Over The Edge"......Just think about THAT for a moment

What about final battle In Justice League’s destroyer? That has a lot of violence with the heroes and villains working together to defeat Darkseid. Also Superman vs Darkseid in Legacy. Darkseid used his Omega beam in Superman and crushed Superman’s hand. Kevin Conroy will always be remembered for his role as Batman and this is where is career as Batman began.

Fight beetwen Cyborg and Father Blood in Teen Titans was pretty violent. Heck, I even have a false memory of Cyborg's oil splashes everywhere like a blood but after rewatching this episode I understand that it was just a false memory

I still don’t understand how Supergirl using the Power Coupling to beat Galatea did anything consider Galatea was cloned from Supergirl’s DNA so the power coupling on its own wouldn’t’ve done anything to Galatea. The fact that Turpin is brought up again in the Finale against Darkside and Darkside doesn’t even remember Turpin is especially dark.

There was a legal battle between DC and Marvel over the name Captain Marvel as Shazam originally was called Captain Marvel and Marvel had a character named Captain Marvel. Marvel won the legal battle and DC changed his name from Captain Marvel to Shazam.

This list is really lacking. We include Clayface's transformation, but not the death of Faust? The fight between Captain Marvel and Supes but not Supes v Darkseid at the JLU finale? Where's the fight between Bane and Bats in Over the Edge? No Aquaman cutting his own hand off? Supes v Doomsday? BOTH TIMES. The Flash DESTROYS ÜberLex. These should have been two lists, Most Violent, and Most Body Horrific.

For me personally, I would have put #9 on top. The scene was shocking even in context -- no dream sequence, no sci-fi, just an abuser pushing their victim out a fifth-floor window, and the abusee saying _it was her fault_. Not just the violence of the act, but the situation that had led to it and the nature of both characters. The scene later in the hospital didn't help, either. @@geviesanta3631 Yeah, it definitely got *my* attention too. I've never really been a fan of the "grim 'n' gritty" trend in cartoons and comic books. Seems to me we get enough of that in real life. But then I'm a 1960s kid who didn't get exposed to that very much - in real life or in my media. I think my generation was better off that way too, but that's just my opinion and I admit it is hard for me to be objective about it.
