I have played 20 games from 2023, 8 are still on my shelf of shame and 3 are still on my wishlist. My top 10: 10. Faraway, 9. Celtae, 8. Big Top, 7. Dracula vs Van Helsing, 6. ART Project, 5. Pioneer Rails, 4. Vienna (Stefan Feld), 3. Thunder Road Vendetta, 2. Lata (sort of a sequel to Cafe - also a great game), 1. Nova Roma (Stan Kordonskiy)

Thank you, that was an excellent list of games! I’ve played many of them but you’ve sparked my interest for a few here for sure. I’m excited to try 3 Ring Circus, no way I’d alter the theme though. It’s just a game. I also don’t cry over colonization games 😂. Seriously though, wonderful eclectic list here.

💚 after hearing the caring of the stray colonies! We have a few traps that we use for TNVR of the local strays. A few treat my back yard as their main territory and I built a cat house with a incandescent bulb for cold nights, which aren't to often here in FL. :D

Enjoyed your lists and liked how you broke it down between small and medium/large. My favorite board game of 2023 was a small box, nature themed game called Forest Shuffle. I liked the puzzle, the art, and it reminded me of nature hikes.

Great tip with the solidarity deck for 3 Ring Circus! I’m already on the lookout for it. My top 3 big box games for last year were: DI: Uprising, Expeditions, and Wild Tiled West. Top 3 small/medium were: The White Castle, Isle of Trains: All Aboard, and Sky Team.

So glad White Castle is getting the (deserved) love. I also went to the Himeji Castle IRL so that definitely helped me pick it off the shelf.

I haven't played Arboria but I enjoyed Barcelona from the same designer : )

Ceres, Apiary and Imperial Miners are my top 3 of 2023.

I absolutely love Expeditions and I also really enjoy Next Station: London, and Sky Team.

Not sure on order, but the 10 for 2023 would be: Septima, Zoo Vadis, Distilled, Nightmare Cathedral, Moonrakers: Titan, Rolling Heights, Sleeping Gods: Distant Skies, BOOooop, Beast, Ahau: Rulers of the Yucatan, and Bonsai

3 Ring Circus is an excellent game. It exceeded my expectations given most reviewers seemed to be Luke warm about it. I agree with you. It's one of the top (big top) games of 2023. 👍

I love White Castle, and it gets better with each play! I am going to have to try Faraway as so many people are talking about how great it is, and the brain burn sounds like it will be real.
