Wait-- Hisame's on here? I get Hinata, but Hisame? From the people I met, no one really gives a damn about Hisame. In fact, I thought he was pretty bland until I started writing with a Hisame roleplayer. Yes, I'm trash.

While this list was okay there's a huge issue with this list that honestly gets more insufferable as the list goes on. The way you go "oh we went there." Or " "Here comes the haters and fanboys now." Ok now, don't kill me here guys... but I think Tharja is the most overrated. With some people on this list, I didn't even know people praised them at all (Hisame? tf?) But lets be honest. Look at almost anyones favorite fire emblem character list, and notice where Tharja is. Near, if not at, the top. Don't get me wrong, she's good, but damn she is excessively hyped up. Gameplay wise I feel she pales next to Henry (may have been rng screwed) and her personality tends to be one trick, with some good moments.

If Tharja was the only Awakening Dark Mage, I still wouldn't like her...

I feel like Camilla is overrated because of her design and the fan service she gets. Don't get me wrong she is an amazing unit but she is over sexualized so much in fates that it just becomes annoying

There were way too many Fates characters on this list... not because the characters are so amazing but I honestly hear so much hate for Fates as a whole that it is hard to call any character from that game overrated when just as many if not more hate them solely for being in Fates. Awakening characters I understand completely, as the game as a whole has become massively over hyped due to it being a lot of people's first FE game (including mine but to be fair I didn't avoid the series by choice, I just never was able to buy it when it was out).

Not sure where Boyd came from, because he got shafted so hard in RD I never used him. And I think you should have included Tharja. She is a HORRIBLE person in her convos and supports, and I always liked Henry better both on the battlefield and as a character. She gets overpraised because of dat ass, and thats all.

Fun fact about Radiant Dawn. It's actually hard because of mistranslation. See, the difficulties in the Japanese version or "Normal, Hard, Lunatic"....which was translated as "Easy, Normal, Hard" in the US. So when you pick Normal, you're ACTUALLY playing on the real Hard mode.

I personally loved Gaius, but yeah, asugi is by far the worst of the "Reincarnation" child units.

I thought I had a better way of getting Azama some extra exp as a monk but apparently not. My idea was to have the enemy at low enough HP where if they hit Azama, they would die because of Divine Retribution. It worked...it's just that Azama didn't get exp because he didn't attack the enemy to get it. It was worth the effort to troll my enemies but in the end, I trolled myself.

I'm not understanding the Hinata/Hisame pick. What you say about them is true yes, but that doesn't relate to the charge of them being overrated. Most people choose Hana over Hinata as a swordsmaster because she has higher skill, whereas Hinata has a bit more HP. So from a combat perspective, he's not overrated, and from a character perspective I hardly ever see people talk about him, so I was under the impression that people overlooked his character, and that goes for Hisame too. He's a walking pickle meme for the most part. Imo Hinata had really funny supports. Hisame was boring though.

What I like about Canas is that he's one of the few dark mages that doesn't seem to be either incredibly depressing, or psychotic. That uniqueness is what makes me like him personally.

My reason for Odin > Other mages in Fates (if not copying My Castle skills from others) -(Outside of Leo) Can actually take a hit or two as a mage unlike: Elise, Nyx, Ophelia, Dwyer, and Forrest. -Easy to reach 100% crit rate -Considering his Samurai path he has plenty of great skills he can naturally reach: Astra, Life and Death, and Vantage. -Initial hit rate vs Nyx -Joins the team early on He's a gimmicky unit, but has always been reliable in what he does.

I really don't understand why adding personality affects anything about being overrated. And... many characters on this list should be equipped with swords that have an advantage over others, because, well, you can't just misuse a character and say they're overrated. i.e. Selena is awful in this video, but she is actually good against generals and such when equipped with weapons like Armorslayer. You need to use other units to get rid of other units. Also, some of the characters here aren't at all overrated. AZAMA?!? ARTHUR?!? HOW?

Blazigknight, if you start your playthroughs with branch of fate every single time, the growths of each character will be identical, explaining your screwed Selena. Selena is one of the best units in conquest because of her amazing speed especially compared to other units(except kaze)

Honestly, I think your list had too many Awakening and Fates units. I, overall, found those two games to have pretty meh characters, but i'm not sure what other people say. I expected more GBA characters on the list, like Joshua, Eliwood, Nino, and *deep breath* Lute. Lute is my favorite character from the series and I would still put her on an overrated list. But Canas? I do understand your arguments about his performance (His growths are unimpressive, which really hurts him), but I think his character is way better than you give him credit for (especially since, as a dark mage, I think he has a really interesting view on dark magic), and there are many more overrated characters from FE7 to choose from *cough* Florina *cough*.

The love for Odin in fates mostly came from his reclass option from what I've heard and even used myself. He actually becomes a pretty kickass swordmaster who can get crits a ton, but as any magic class he's certainly bad. Also gotta love ophelia with vantage or astra :D

I'm not even mad you included Severa in this list. She was the only, ONLY character I disliked-no, hated- in Awakening.

I'm actually intrigued Boyd is on here. On my 10 or so playthroughs of Radiant Dawn, including 1 or 2 on hard, Boyd was my best axeman every single time. I wanted to use Nolan so much but he seemed so lackluster in comparison. Have I just gotten really crappy rolls on Nolan or am I missing something here?

I honestly cannot agree with Azama being overrated. He still gets the job done as a healer, he's fairly bulky, and he has good growths in pretty much every in physical class.

Actually where are these people telling you that Arthur is up there with the Royals and Effie in stats? I mean, I get criticism of Arthur, he's 'relatively' one note, he's not meta stats wise, and he's annoying to some people, but overrated? Maybe there are a small amount of people who LOVE him (me included), but even I won't try and say he's a meta unit. It's obvious he's not a meta unit. Regardless, I don't regret enlisting his help in my playthroughs, and I always enjoy reading his supports. He's the most earnest character in the game, and one note doesn't do him justice (pardon the coincidental wordplay) as a description. He's pretty much always getting unlucky, fair enough, but there's usually another element to the support. Whether he's helping other people (which is very often, I mean, I'd rather have him constantly helping people than trolling them or being a tsundere), he's expressing his own concerns about himself, he's learning from others, and by Justice his support with Beruka is amazing. He's my favorite, I'm not trying to say he's the best bar none, but who the heck IS trying to say he is, unironically of course.

This list only made me like most of the characters on it even more.

what version of Radiant Dawn are you playing? In my last playthrough Nolan was nothing compared to Boyd. Boyd was one-hitting tons of units. While Gatrie and Titania were better I absolutely loved Boyd.

So yeah, I'm not a big fan of this list. The points they construct are fairly valid, but they made very odd choices like Hisame/Hinata (who are generally seen as bland and uninteresting by many), Selena (Who was already divisive), and Azama (I get their reasoning but despite people praising his personality not many actually hold him as highly as others, though this one is admittedly much more valid). I feel another thing holding down the list is their exclusion of the Japanese FEs, (as some of the most overrated can be found there as well) and the ban on reclassing (mainly because some of these characters are rather lauded for how well they do outside their base class, Swordmaster Odin anyone?). Anyways, if I had to put down any candidates for this list they'd be Melady (She tends to underperform for me compared to all the claims of her being an S-tier Goddess as many cite), FE11 Ogma and Navarre (Specifically these incarnations, I think FE11 is their worst showing, because they kick butt in other Archanea games), Chrom (I really don't see why many consider him such a great Lord, I freely admit I may be biased) and Camilla (WHY!? WHY IS SHE OF ALL NOHR CHARACTERS SO POPULAR!?) Controversial choices I know, but I honestly feel that way about these characters.

I suppose, considering Odin's character, it makes sense you wouldn't see the subtlety of his change. no order. just some units i think are overrated based on what I have seen. oddly enough, i havent seen any talk about most of the characters on blazingknight's list being OP or anything that would make me think they were overrated. severa: she is just a tsundere done terribly due to being too much of a bitch yet is one of the most favorite? I like her as a unit in combat especially in fates, but her personality is just terrible. she is better in fates, but not by much. anna: kind of the opposite of severa. her personality was interesting even if it is mostly just "money!", but, at least in my experience, she never ended up being good as a unit in combat. her offensive stats were low and she gets outclassed in healing by 2 healers you get much earlier on. tharja: her personality revolves around her huge crush on robin that came out of nowhere because....reasons? i get that she is a good unit, but her personality is just terrible. fates version is at least somewhat bearable because they actually give her a reason to admire and love the MC... ryoma: its less him having faults than it is just being overrated. he is an amazing unit and i like his personality. its just everyone loves him and always overhypes him because he is an OP unit. camilla: do i even need to explain this one? most of her fanbase is due to her being a fanservice character to them. charlotte: same as camilla. takumi: take away the fujin yumi and he wouldn't be nearly as popular as he is due to it. henry: i can admit to him being overrated and i really like the character. kind of like anna how i really like his personality, but never found him too useful in combat due to low speed and res. odin: same thing with henry. i still liked his personality in fates, but he was just good in fates conquest. nothing amazing which was really needed for that route

Her personality was well though out and well executed. She has a different outlook on life, compared to all the other charecters, which you don't typically seen in media, as well as having a more relatable personality compared to many charecters. And when I say relatable, i mean relatable to high school teenagers. Form having inferiority/ Superiority complexes to not being able to take on the challenges of the world without complaining and moaning, she seems more human as she doesn't always succeed, unlike many fire emblem charecters. Now, to defend her gameplay in Fates, you got RNG screwed so badly. She was by far one of the most reliable characters throughout both Conquest and Revelations. I remember multiple chapters where she single handedly saved my bacon. I also remeber her haing the third highest amount of kills in conquest, and high in revelations. 2. I don't like Arthur, so I won't let my biases show here too much, but I agree that he reuses the same trope every single time, and it gets grating 1. Time to defend Azama, his character can impart a lot of wisdom, especially in his condescending tone. His advice ca be used to improve the abilities of other characters, as seen in his support with Setsuna. Sometimes, a kick in the teeth is what someone needs, and he is there to provide that. His cynicism also compliments many of the optimistic characters in Birthright. Gameplay wise, Azama has a lot more uses than you would think, He is a healer that can be on the front lines because of his bulkiness. Also, if he does not need to heal anyone, he can actually do some decent damage. Now , I will say that I respect your opinion, but sometimes viewing something from an outside point of view may help in dealing with your own biases. With that fanboy rant with pitchforks and torches over, time to go back to enjoying your amazing videos!!!!

A good list, however I disagreed with Canas and Severa entries but hey that is your opinion. I found Severa and Canas to be useful on my teams. Though I was shocked to Severa on the list rather then getting angry over it. Most of the characters on the list I said "They're overrated really?" I thought the fanbase hated them espically your number one pick. Regardless I understand why they are on the list. But I disagree as I found Severa to out perform Laslow as she got level ups time and again. I was okay with her Tsundere character as I found them to be enjoyable if done right. I was her Father in Awakening and I found her to be the best charatar espically when I read her supports with her sister Morgan. Even still though she did very well in awakening good level after good level up. Maybe the RNG blessed me with good level ups but I can respect your opinion and your humor was top notch by the way. I found your content on complete accident and I'm glad I did as I found someone who doesn't hate Fates with a burning passion and tries to middle with it. Honestly I can see the appeal of Azama, mainly because he's something fairly unique in the series and that being a troll can definitely be funny if you like that kind of humor. As for Arthur...honestly I'm just a sucker for his design and his easy availability. While he doesn't fare too well compared to Beruka, I did find him much easier to use than Charlotte. You seem to be confused as to why Canas is considered so great. Yes it's because he's the only shaman in the class, but that isn't because of some "zomgshamanssocool" or whatever. It's because he's the only unit till Athos who can use Luna, which in FE7 is completely busted with high accuracy, critical and it friggin' ignores resistance. Proper application of Canas with Luna will fix so many of your problems and steamroll most the bosses, particularly with the powerful mages in the lategame.

Azama is a joke character because Hinoka doesn't really rely on her retainers.

Cool video! It looks like I'm the only person here who likes Hinata personality-wise. Sure he's nowhere in Takumi, Oboro, or Leo levels in terms of writing, but I enjoyed his nice-guy attitude, the dynamic he has with his master, his perceptiveness to others emotions, and how he does his best to help them (Hinoka and Felicia's supports with him are examples of that, and both of which I enjoyed reading). I do admit that he's definitely the weakest Samurai when compared to Hana and Ryoma. I like Kaden too, and I enjoyed his personality. Again, he's definitely not a complex character in the writing department, but I can relate to both his "repay a debt" and even narcissistic attitudes. Yes, he may be lackluster unit-wise as the points of the video raised, but in my experience playing Birthright, he still did the job just fine. If you had to ask me who I think is overrated, I'd say Keaton. He's easily one of the best units in the game, but I think his personality is overrated. I know Keaton's character is one of the reasons why he's loved, but I personally thought that garbage obsession of his got old very quickly the more I read his supports. The only time I found it memorable was in his supports with Charlotte.

I haven't gotten around to playing Awakening, (Fates were my first FE games) but Odin's always been my favorite and one of my best units in Conquest. It could be because I don't know Owain yet, so I can't relate to your opinion on the aspect that he hasn't had much character development, but I've always enjoyed Odin.
