I know this list is only showcasing 2000's movies, but I think "Dangerous Liaisons" 1987, with Michelle Pfeiffer and John Malkovich is to this day. a superb period drama/romance movie, as well as "Some where in time".

She mispronounced a LOT of things - like Breeony instead of BrIony (long I). She definitely needs some severe editing from her boss. Makes you realize that she has never even seen these movies!!! And, Far from the maddening crowd, instead of madding crowd...

Loved Bright Star✨, Far from the madding crowd (I love seeing Carey Mulligan act ...exceptional story), Belle (my whole soul was captivated by this story....I love her with every breath I breathe), Atonement, A little chaos, and Becoming Jane (heart breaking) but my number one is Persuasion 2005 version. ...THAT IS EVERYTHING and my favorite story of a consistent male lead

So glad they included Becoming Jane in this list! Such a credit to the amazing actors in that movie that it was still so good despite not having the outcome/ending we'd want! Also - Kiera Knightly and James McAvoy were made for these romantic period movies!

Agreed Pride and Prejudice with KN and this Mr Darcy is my favorite period movie of all time. After that loved Belle. The latest Emma I really enjoyed mostly because I loved Johnny Flynn’s acting in this.

Yes, I agree, but I believe that Persuasion - 2007 deserves a place on this list. And if could include mine series in this list: Sense and Sensibility - 2008 from BBC London is perfect. One of Austen's best adaptations for the screens.

The 2011 version of "Jane Eyre" is superb. Kiera Knightly and James McAvoy seem to own this thread. I thought that the actor portraying Vronsky in "Anna Karenina" is miscast. He comes across as foppish. Vronsky is supposed to be the dashing male that would make the sensible Anna lose all sense of reason. In this version, I thought Jude Law as Karenin as the sedate husband was more attractive than the romantic lover. In fact, the perfect Vronsky would have been the young Jude Law.

I know it's only movies released after 2000,but I have to say that, in my opinion,of course, the most recent versions of Little Women and Emma, although very well made and faithful to the era, especially when it comes to costumes, don't come close to the 1990's versions. I think my favorite one on the list is A Little Chaos. Belle and The Dutchess are perfect too.

Gotta say that no romance movie ever makes my list of favorites if one (or both) of the lovers is already married; it completely ruins the magic. So three of these would get the axe from me (just as the allegedly "great romance" in Dr. Zhivago did many years ago).

No North and South mentioned here? Richard Armitage and Daniela Denby-Ashe, and Brendan Coyle. No Persuasion either? There were two to choose from, Ciaran Hinds and Amanda Root or Rupert Penry-Jones and Sally Hawkins. Jane Eyre with Ciaran Hinds and Samantha Morton, or with Toby Stevens and Ruth Wilson. Both are great. Emma with Kate Beckinsale and Mark Strong was good too. Best Pride and Prejudice is with Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle, hands down. No mention of Mansfield Park either - guess only one or two Jane Austens made the cut. What about Wuthering Heights with Ralph Fiennes and Juliette Binoche, oooh that was brilliant! Our Mutual Friend also deserves a mention, as does The Glass Virgin and The Dwelling Place. The robot voice and pronunciation wasn't great here, so something to work on for next time please. Not a bad list though.
