After the ice scene happened, and I quickly looked over the rest of the season to make sure Peter’s actually dead, on the second minute my mind caught up to me and I remembered that I was expecting that to happen in season 2 and was kinda shocked that they took a love story turn… so everything was right story-wise, despite how freaking sad it was. But the first minute after I saw all I was speechless. They really managed to catch us off-guard and got us to believe that he’s safe in this story by not killing him after the coup, like it was supposed to happen according to history. And then they killed him off anyway, and in the cruelest way possible, right after he talked about wanting to be important and leave something great after his death to remember him by. And now no one will remember him being great even in this crazy universe, not even his own son, whom Peter loved so much… That was so, so cruel. The show was always pretty dark, but this season… my God.

I ended up having to watch episode 6 all over again because when it ended I realized that I had no idea what happened after Peter died. I was just staring at the screen, waiting for him to come back somehow & expecting it. Like how Aunt Elizabeth didn’t come back up with the rope…but she was fine because she found a different way back to the surface. I kept waiting & waiting for him to come back to the surface. I heard absolutely nothing after I watched Peter slowly fall to the bottom with his horse. It was definitely shocking. I still can’t wrap my head around it.

For me, I didn't think Peter actually died after the ice scene. (Although knowing the history). I still hoped that he would show up again. May be Elizabeth jumped into the icy water and she didn't see his dead body. That's why she said he was resting well in this cold water because there was no actual dead body of him. Lol that what I hoped till the very end of the season ...but 😢😢😢😢 I am silly I know 😔

I cried so hard in season 3 that it was so natural. I didn’t even bother to hold it in because the emotions were so raw and real. Elle Fanning and Belinda Bromilow did such a fantastic job conveying grief and denial.

I am up to 3x10 and I blame Nicholas and Elle for their insane chemistry! I totally forgot how cruel Peter was in the first season and completely understand why Marial hated him. Watching s2 & s3 and how close they became and how we fell in love with Peter and Catherine, my murder royals, their story was complex but their chemistry is so good. I look forward to seeing how Catherine grieves but shines in this new era.

The real story wasn't a story of love, she hated him and thought him to be a genuine bane on her adopted country(she was German/ Austrian). She forced abdication 6 months after ascending to the throne and 8 days after he was killed at the hands of Alexei Orlov. The REAL love story and match was between Catherine and the courtier Grigory Potemkin.

@@loidasalazar1136 One of the main reasons the show was this successful was Nicholas' & Ellie's chemistry. Nick made an unbearable character like Peter loveable. Idk what plans they have for S4, but I won't be watching. They should've waited for another season & THE LAST EP to kill Peter off. 😔

@@WickedDreams Exactly, if the story they follow hasn't been 100% true, why do this now? 😡 I couldn't finish the season I was too upset, I waited so long for the season and it was disappointing. You are absolutely right, they could have left Peter's death for the end since they had to notice the amount of the public that we need to see him, the truth is that Catherine without him does not excite me at all, speaking in the series of course.

I love The great despite Peters tragic passing, i can see why he died. They were both holding each other back in diff ways, which was painful to watch as well. It took a while for me to get over it, but at the end of the day, The great is fire. And i will forever love it❤

Ans also the real Catherine is known for the impactful things SHE did, and the real Peter had no input whatsoever. There is 34 years of history that the writers can use as source material

You're not silly. I think everyone had a hard time believing Peter's death (including Catherine). I actually checked other episodes after 6th to make sure he was dead and it wasn't a "jape" or something.

While i do love their romance, i dont understand why people are saying that they ruined this because they killed peter, not only it was bound to happen even if this show takes a lot of liberties(???) Whit history the rest of the season is amazing whit chatherine in a state of grieve amazingly(???) Performed by Elle fanning(???), its ok to be sad that peter died but its just imature droping the show because of it. Sorry english is not my first language

I have to say her last words saying "I miss my husband" really hits hard but the only thing I could say to there love story.....(yes I believe what they had was a love story) .....was tragic ok hear me out but this is my piont of view, my opinion to there love story for me there story starter from something like this Catherine came to Russia with an open heart ready for love but peter was never ment for love love just like what Catherine said his heart was not capable of love but the more they bonded and spent time together he just fell for her and it was obvious that Catherine still loved him but it just pains her knowing her great love was the one who killed her mother.......there love story had a lot of happy like sweet moments and even having Paul but these moments ended shortly when it went down like there story was just truly tragic...... To make it short they had a really difficult era for love......oh and Editor this was such a masterpiece you showed the entire series with just one videos you deserve a round of applause 👏♥️

Oh man oh man. I love recaps. It soothes my adhd. But this i truly think id watch the whole way through. Ugh. I can feel the madness at his loss. The only comfort being all the words that could not have been said were. They truly got each other. And allowed each other to be freely themselves. But come on paul??? Me encanta encontrar alguien que escriba en español y que comparta mi sentir🥺 esperé demasiado esta temporada cada noticia de ella me emocionaba mas🥺 y luego todo se fue a la basura💔 Catherine sola no es de mi interés ademas de que su hipocresia en ocasiones es demasiado molesta. Como se atrevieron a tocar a Peter💔 esto no es históricamente exacta y con Peter si llevaron real todo😕ya no vere mas, no entiendo como destruyeron esto, habian logrado que la segunda temporada fuera mejor que la primera y eso me emocionó aun mas con la tercera💔😭 y veme ahora.
