Thanks Doug! Yeah, just goes to show you that even cards from the 40s are still readily available (assuming you have the wallet to be able to purchase them).

Thanks for sharing, John. Looks like collectors are obtaining the earlier Jackie Robinson cards as they did last month. This was the first time I've seen the black/white Swell cards of him, also.

Thanks Kevin. Yeah after only two months it seems that the 40s are dominated by Jackie cards like the 50s are dominated by Mantle cards. We'll see if that continues.

Great info John. Makes me wish I had a rich uncle and I was his only beneficiary. These are out of my reach but they sure are nice to look at.

That 1949 Robinson has gone way down in the last couple years which is very surpising. I bought a PSA 1 a couple years ago for $3K. That Ruth not even a playing days card. That 48 Robinson is WAY better than a 1.5 out of 10. And way better than the PSA 3. Goes to show how ridiculous PSA has gotten in grading. That 35. looks like an 8.

The Ruth may not be a playing days card, but it's a popular card of his since it's somewhat affordable compared to his playing days cards, especially the ones from the 20s. It may be hard to tell from the image, but for the 48 Robinson, while the centering on the 1.5 is better than the 3 copy, the corners are much more rounded and it looks like there are some minor creases and surface issues. The PSA 3 has better corners and the surface issues are not as bad. For the 3.5, again it may be hard to tell from the image, but the corners do have a little wear to them, but I think the main reason it got a 3.5 is that from the back you can see some small creases in the bottom corners and what might be a little paper loss or scratches. So while it does present very well, especially from the front, it's not an 8.

that makes 2 of us and i'm sure there are other creators not aware of that card that must be a separate set that wasn't popular back then? to answer your question I know you only have room for 10 But I think Berra should havebeen in more demand from ebay buyers and his card should have been on the list. questions 1. how does a card same year, same company, same player same everything except for the grade how does a 3 sell more than a 4? I could see if you had a Mr October record breaker 1978 and that's a 4 and his actual card is a 3 that I can see, or if you have say a topps food group which is a 4 and his card from the actual topps set which is a 3 that I can see why 3's sell for more than 4's but I don't understant the Jackie Robinson card?

Thanks Mark. It's not a matter of whether a card like a Berra should have been in more demand and on the list. It comes down to which cards happen to be for sale in any given month. For a Yogi Berra card to make the list, a fairly high grade copy of one of his cards would have had to come up for sale. It just might have been that one wasn't for sale or was sold this month. It's not about what cards should be on the list, but which cards actually sold for the most amount of money. 1. If you look at both Robinson cards, the PSA 3 is centered better than the PSA 4. For some collectors, like myself, a more centered card might be worth more than one that is off-centered, even if it is in a higher grade. I pass on a lot of cards because of the centering and often buy a lower graded copy that has better centering. The other difference between the two cards is that the PSA 4 was a buy it now with a best offer and the PSA 3 was an auction. Sometimes you get differences in price based on how the card is sold.
