I literally own 2 turbo grafx games. Bonks adventure and Keith courage. For me it’s completely a novelty that I never planned to collect for but I remember seeing it in the Sears catalog and toys are us book as a kid and always wondered what the heck it was.

@@moonshinegaming my game store sold me mine for $10 because they didn’t have the cords and didn’t know how to test it. I found a way to use a sega adapter and a NES rf switch. I also got the mini with all the games on it.

Great video! Athough I should mention that every single game you mention here didn't include a case. Just Box, Manual, and Game. This is something they did for games released near the end of the Turbo's lifespan. Also, Neutopia II does have a save feature. You just have to have a Turbo Booster Plus or one of the CD systems to save. No Turbo game has the ability to save without A booster plus or CD system.

Sorry, for neutopia II I was referring to the password saves WITHOUT the turbo booster plus. I should have specified this in the video, sorry for the confusion. Also I was unaware of that but now that I think about it didn’t they all come with the cardboard box with that crappy plastic insert 😂

Oh man, I'll never forget buying a box of used Turbo Grafx and SMS games from Peninsula Liquidators in Niagara about 16 years ago in a lot, all common, except Magical friggin Chase buried at the bottom. Best treasure find in all my years of collecting.

Legend of Hero Tonma is one I actually have. It reminds me of Little Samson (which is also very expensive). It’s probably my favorite game for the system next to Soldier Blade and Devil’s Crush. It’s so much fun and I’m thankful to have it.

@@moonshinegaming These prices are getting obnoxious! I like my collection being worth something, but the games are more important to me. I do collect only physical and I actually could have got these retail back in the day. Never expected these skyrocketing prices. More people are collecting I guess and of course corporate is in on the game now. I remember when they referred to them as 'just toys'. They finally see the 🤑🤑🤑 and I guess it's off to the races. I experience trouble simply picking up day one retail sometimes! This is getting crazy! You could get a bad ass multi-cade for the price of magical chase!

My step brother had a TG16 when I was growing up. He was literally the only person I knew who had the system. And while the system always had this allure due to it’s uncommon nature, I remember being fairly underwhelmed with the games. I do remember liking Bonk and it’s sequels but most of the games… yeah, they just seemed like weak sauce imitations of Genesis and SNES games. The only thing that it seemed to do well was shooters and that was never really my jam. So funny to me how people revere the system today as some treasure trove of amazing games. It’s most expensive game, Magical Chase, is average at best.

people complain about how much these types of games are expensive. but hey remember, if youre as old as i am and remember and own some of the expensive games from other systems. try out some trades. rather than cash. trade if you can. sometimes it wont cost ya anything then

I’ve got a copy of Tonma in original box, and with original plastic wrap and box hook still intact. It’s open, but just at the top, and the plastic is in good condition around the rest of the box. Looks like the couple listings on eBay Canada right now are around $1700 or so

I have a lot of Turbo games, but none of these very expensive ones, as I did not buy them early on, but only bought them a few years ago.

Sadly, I don't think I have any "complete" games anymore, as I've long lost the manuals, boxes and whatnot... but I have four on that list: Air Zonk, Shockman, Neutopia II and Bonk 3: Bonk's Big Adventure. I got them during their first run and would have taken better care of the packaging if I was a little older, I'm sure.

That’s still crazy impressive to even have a few on the list! What’s your favourite of those 4? If I were to order them from my favourite to least favourite I would probably go… Air Zonk, Bonk 3, Neutopia II and then Shockman.

That's a good question. I think I played Bonk 3 the most, though I actually prefer it the least of main games on TG16. Revenge > Bonk > Bonk 3. It's not a bad game, but I think Revenge was more polished and the original is just a good, straightforward game. The third felt a little like they were trying to cram as much as they could in one last time before the system was retired. Air Zonk and Neutopia II are great. I loved the ability to combine with your companion in Zonk and the final stage being a throwback to the original Bonk game as I remember it. And Neutopia I & II were my favorite Zelda clones. Shockman is decent enough, but I never did beat it. If I remember correctly, the controls were a little loose. Though I did like transforming from action/platformer to shooter throughout the game. I guess if I had to pick one that I enjoyed the most, it would probably be Bonk 3 or Air Zonk.

Boxes were not meant to be saved. It’s the game that counts. As long as you didn’t abuse those, that’s all that matters. I mean consider how games today don’t even have manuals and come with part of the plastic case cut out to “save” materials (like some video game cases are what’s killing the planet). Your stuff got to live a full life. Be proud of that. Kids who grew up acting like they owned the deceleration of independence were weirdos.

The outer cardboard box included in the total? You mean the thing 95% of people have thrown away or lost ages ago. As a PCE/TG16 collector I came to terms with them never coming with that long ago. In fact, when I do get one I try to flip it right away so I don't tempt myself going down that rabbit hole.
