My first ever was A shiny a ton on my first emerald playthrough. Then a bunch in pogo, but that's much easier and I don't really count it

If it makes you feel any better, I've only encountered 17 shinys ever since I've started heart gold. Not just in heart gold tho, I only got three in heart cold the rest from other games. Mostly ultra moon

well there’s 429,596,7295 different spinda patterns (they’re based on personality values), and there’s five pokemon in a horde. as someone who’s not good at math, i’m assuming the odds of two showing up would just be 1/429,5967,295? please feel free to correct me, so if those odds have to be met five times, i’m guessing that would be 1/2,147,983,6475 (original matching spinda odds times 5) adding in they all have to be shiny, (let’s make it the OG 1/8192 just for fun) just for a whole horde to be shiny by itself would be 1/4960, that multiplied by our matching spinda odds gives us 1/106,539,988,916,000 (for the record, that number is in the trillions) pokerus is tricky, because it’s not actually encountered in the wild, you get it after a battle. but it doesn’t matter, we’ll add it on anyways. 1/21,845 is the odds of getting pokerus, so once again that must happen 5 times. the chance of that happening is 1/109,225, but we have to multiply that by our big number, to get 1/11,636,830,289,350,100,000. (once again, i could be doing this TOTALLY wrong, that’s why i’m explaining along the way in case someone wants to correct me) so finally we have our 6 IV odds. perfect IVs have a 1/4096 of showing up, so once again this must happen 5 times. this gives us a 1/20,480 chance (that almost seems possible compared to finding two identical spinda at this point...) so our chance of finding a perfect IV, pokerus, shiny horde of identical spindas is...1/238,322,284,325,890,048,000,000. i had to look up that this number is a “quadragintillion” so i mean the odds of this happening are kinda low

giving some corrections to the comment above; given spinda's pattern is based on personality values, a 32-bit number, the base number would be 1 in 4,294,967,295, although the real value for patterns would probably be less than 4 billion because different personalities can probably have identical patterns visually, to be totally consistent lets just say five with identical personality values, since it'd be 1 in 4,294,967,295 for a specific pv, identical pvs on 5 pokemon would just be that chance multiplied by itself 5 times, so 5 spindas with identical personalities have the monstrously low chance of 1 in 2^160(~1.4615016 quindecillion), next we factor in each being shiny, since shiny-ness is determined by personality values as well, that's just applied once(1 in 4096), and assuming that you're using honey or sweet scent for a guaranteed horde encounter, in OR/AS the only spinda horde encounter route is route 113, and is a 95% chance(95/100). next is IVs, each stat has 32 possible values (0-31), and with 6 stats a perfect iv wild pokemon would be 1 in 1,073,741,824, so five mons with perfect ivs is 1 in 1.4272477e+45(~1.42725 quattuor-decillion). pokerus is 3 in 65,536, or about 1 in 21,845 to be generated on the player's pokemon after a battle, which would be impossible since you could only catch one of the spindas anyway, given it's a horde battle, but since we're playing with nigh impossibilities anyway, we'll just say that you could catch them all, and put each in your party the next battle, and every single one would get pokerus afterwards. this would be around a 1 in 4.9749654e+21(4.9749654 sextillion) chance of happening. all of this together, after some multiplication gives us this number: 4.038055e+118, so 1 in about 40 octotrigintillion, or 40 followed by 117 zeros, which is a chance so incomprehensibly low i can't really think of a less ridiculous, but comparable example.. (feel free to point out errors in my math if you see any, I did work with some generalizations, though)

Let's go even further lol. that Shadow mon to stay shiny is 1 out of 67,108,964 chance right? A full horde of Spinda that's Shiny, Beneficial Nature, have perfect IVs, pokerus, have their hidden ability, and the same pattern is so rare, that it'd take a while to list the chance... it's labeled as 1 out of 9.9 x 10^127

It's actually getting all the pokemon up to gen 8 as shiny, in a row by pokedex entry number on each of their first encounters. And this is considering that the universe would probably die off before someone gets that perfect spinda horde....

I actually managed to get a shiny combee in Pearl once, but it was Male,. What was worse was I didn’t know only female combee evolution so I spent literally weeks on levelling up that sucker until it became level 100 as for no avail Luckily enough years later in Moon I successfully bred a female shiny combee using the mesuda method with the shiny charm and finally got my gorgeous red vespiquen, but, I’ll always remember those bitter times

@@actuallyanimatics2938 Each tree is predetermined however the 4 trees that are predetermined to have a munchlax STILL only have a 1% of getting a munchlax. You still have to wait the entire time and redo the honey if the munchlax is revealed not to be a shiny.

Save in the front of the tree, if you encounter a Munchlax, then that tree will always give u a Munchlax as long as u soft reset in the front of it so just reset until u get one

I got a used copy of Pokémon Ranger from the Pawn Shop my dad would take me to a lot years ago and I beat it yet again a few days ago. I decided to check if the egg was still on there just to see and it turns out it is, so I actually have a chance! ...Or I would if I had another DS since my sister broke my DS lite... That wouldn't be so bad, if it weren't for the fact that the cartridge keeps randomly getting corrupted for no reason and deleting my save file, so I have to keep my 3DS on in sleep mode until I can get another DS so I don't lose the egg :/

For number 4, I had a rattata from gen 1 that was shiny in stadium 1, visual effect and bright pink rather than purple that evolved into a golden furred raticate rather than the typical dark brown.

Actually, that Manaphy is worse: You can get only one per Pokémon Ranger game, not per save file AND it is shiny locked for the first game you transfer it to so you have to trade it before you even have a chance of getting it shiny

I once got a shiny rufflet via wonder trade and I was about to wonder trade it off, before I realized it was shiny, I had some doubts about the marking on the pokemon so I checked and it was indeed a shiny, so I currently have a Lvl. 74 shiny braviary

Very great & entertaining video! But I have to clear up the common misconception about your #1: Shadow Shiny Pokémon in Colosseum: In Pokémon Colosseum, shininess gets determined for YOU once you see a shadow Pokémon for the first time. Which means the first time battling against let's say a Shadow Entei, it will never be shiny for the opponent but can be shiny for you (1/8192 chance). Later in the game if you decided to not catch a Shadow mon during the first battle or accidentally KO'd it, you can have a rematch with that NPC to get another chance of catching it. It happens here that the shininess gets determined for the opponent Trainer, since it's already determined for you. So during the first battle it is when you want to shiny hunt Shadow Pokémon and during the Rematch only it can be shiny for the Trainer. And since the stats are already locked in for you after the first battle, it's just a 1/8912 chance to get a uncatchable Shadow shiny during Rematch OR a 1/8192 chance for a Shadow Shiny Pokémon for yourself during the first battle. I know this video is already a bit older but it has a ton of views and I would like to clear up some misconceptions about Colosseum, because a lot of people don't know how it works. So, it's NOT a coding error in the game. Most people just didn't know how the game code worked. After playing Pokemon games for years and failing epically at finding a shiny, I came back to the series to play Let's Go Pikachu and I managed to find a shiny Growlithe while not even on a shiny hunt! Then I managed to catch myself a shiny Magikarp (after hours of grinding!). Now I'm getting greedy and I want another shiny!

I caught a shiny spinda. So the chances of someone catching the exact same shiny spinda with the same markings pattern is very slim

Shiny shadow pokemon aren't that bad since they all have a chance of becoming shiny when you catch them. They don't need to be shiny when they appear in battle since shininess goes off trainer ID, and Colosseum applies your ID after capture. It's the normal one in 8000 for them to become shiny, but It'd still be crazy rare to see a shiny shadow and have it retain its shininess after snagging it.

Kpop Shake yep, it’s locked to one per cartridge. It’s no even shining manaphy, just manaphy from ranger in general is a nigh impossible Pokemon to obtain nowadays. You’d either need a cartridge from someone who never done the event, or a sealed copy of Pokemon Ranger. Both of those would be incredibly difficult to track down

Not sure if it’s been commented already, but have a look into the Tyranitar plush that was available about 15+ years ago. It was about three foot tall and was discontinued for apparently falling on children and being too heavy. It was sent to the US for production but both were halted immediately. The US batch is also weird because the entire production of them were made with the eyes sewn upside down. Last time I saw one for sale it went for $3500! It’s something I’ve always wanted as Tyranitar is my fave, but it’s not happening any time soon. There’s also a tutorial for those who get an American one and who want to fix the eyes, plus people who make the tags so you can restore them as much as possible!

Shiny Mew is by far the rarest in Gen 2. Since you could only get Mew through events, you had to wait for Nintendo to distribute one that was shiny. The only time that happened was in November of 2002 at the New York Pokémon Center, but the odds of getting one from the machine was 0,5%, and you only had one chance per cart.

Fun fact: In pokemon colosseum, if you snag a shadow mon, even a normal non-shiny shadow mon, and send it out in that battle it still has a chance to be shiny. So it basically goes from non-shiny to perma-shiny. LOL

Where has this Pokémon channel been. He uses detailed Kris sprites in animations and has a ton of effects going on. But most importantly, _he is acknowledging Kris_ and that is just terrific. She should've been in HG/SS. Also, great choices of video game music. And it's pretty cool Celebi triggers a cutscene with someone from the Pokémon Center. It is interesting to see those characters play a role in the story.

Umm... You got some stuff wrong on the Manaphy bit. The first game you transfer it to, it is automatically shinylocked on. So you have to trade it to, let's say, Diamond and then immediately transfer it to Pearl before you even have a CHANCE of it being shiny. Then you have to save your game and then hatch it. If it is not shiny you have to transfer it to a new save file that it's never been on and repeat that whole process. And the worst bit of misinformation here is that you can start your Ranger game over again to get another egg. It's only one per game cartridge, not per save file. I found that one out the hard way. I have both shiny Manaphy and Phione. I went through all of this :P

also the chances of you encountering a different shiny whilst getting to the first pokemon center (Starter, uncatchables before pokeballs and the 1 you need to catch to be able to trade) are a lot higher than getting the manaphy

@@Piplup-js5uu imagine too the odds that you reset over IDs that favor cute charm... But also it's not one egg per cartridge. It's one egg per fiscal save file. The problem is that you can't delete this without hacking. You can delete the in game save file but that doesn't delete the fiscal save file.

I got my first shiny on the day I had Alpha Sapphire (first owned game) I was in route after Littleroot after I got Pokèballs and I encountered a wurmple. THE WURMPLE WAS PURMPLE. It evolved into a Beautifly which was nice.

Got my Shiny Celebi in VC Crystal on May 22 after been soft-resetting since January. Never had gone that far before. It was my most wanted Shiny for years and it felt really good to have one being caught by me. This was also the right time to do it since I could choose any nature I want before transfering to Gen VII :D

The rarest I've caught myself is a Shiny Latios and Groudon in Ultra Sun. I was wonder traded a shiny celebi in Ultra Sun as well, it seems to have the game boy icon next to the shiny star and its in a normal poke ball. Not sure how far back exactly it goes though
