I think some United employees are upset they were deemed too low class to work in concentration camps. They seem to get sadistic glee in the petty power they have to mess up your trip. Case in point: recently I flew United and was assigned "group 4" boarding. I am allowed a carry on provided it meets the size rules. The gate attendant positioned herself on the ramp and decided we all had to leave our carry on. No luggage claim check! When i boarded and saw empty bin space, I protested and got my bag back. Those who didn't- who knows if they ever saw their property again. Considering people pack essentials in carry ons such as medications and the ramp is too late to unpack- this is horrible

Hugo wiren yes, it happened to me before, they offered me 200 usd when the plane I came in started burning itself and we had to make a forced landing which took at least 45 min. Was the scariest experience in my entire life, also they got us stuck in a transit room on Puerto Rico for 10 hours, we lost our connecting flight. It was terrible. Of course I never took the 200 usd voucher, I would never ever take a flight with UNITED again.

My dad is a pilot for United. This policy does apply. The employees in this situation however needed to get to the next airport to crew an Airbus there. The man on the plane that refused to get off was in the wrong seeing how he made people on that plane miss there connecting flights and the people on the other 4 crew members flight have a very late departure. Also the moment he set foot in the airport he has rights taken due to being on federal land. Also once on the plane it's the FAA's laws. He had no rights although what the tsa did was maybe a little over the line, but was legally justified.

Finally Something Different From what I understand, they were not even united employees. They were from another airline that paid more then the ticket cost. That fact makes the situation even worse.

Steve Balmer I've read like 10 articles on this and none of them said that. They all said it was airline employees that they were trying to move to a different city. The thing is, usually they ask for volunteers and offer people a gift certificate to switch their flight if they need to get employees on that plane and don't have available seats. But they're supposed to do this way before the plane is boarded. Once the plane has been boarded, that's it. Those people shouldn't have to give up their seats. Also note the part about it being a volunteer. If nobody is willing to volunteer, they shouldn't be dragging people off of the plane. Those people paid for their tickets, they have the right to take that flight.

Finally Something Different The employees work certain hours, and if there shift goes past 24 hours, its illegal for them to fly with the crew, thats why they always have employees on the plane to get from air port to airport to get home

yeah I get all that, but like hear me out: they were going to to be the passengers $400 and a free stat overnight in a hotel. they should have just had their employees do that. It's their job to deal with airline bullshit, not the passengers. Why abuse a passanger, pull him off the plane which he paid for in front of all the other passengers, and deal with all the backlash, when you can just give your employees the hotel room, say "hey sorry, but you work here and this is the kind of thing you gotta deal with." It doesn't make sense to me.
