Co-op would've been awesome, albeit quite a bit less terrifying. Imagine coordinating with a friend, one of you distracting Mr. X while the other takes care of puzzle-solving and retrieving items. Could've added a whole different dimension to the game.

After the RE3 Remake release, i think that RE2 was a lot scarier than RE3. Mr.x was much more terrifying than Nemesis.

Having Claire move with Leon would have been nice. As it stands, the two only interact 3 times in the stories. But in og they crossed paths more often.

It's true about the audio. It's WAY underrated. I had the pleasure to do my first playthrough on a 6.2 Sony Muteki Hometheather system and it BLEW ME AWAY. The positional sound was PERFECT. Hearing Mr. X through the police station was terrifying. And, oh, god, the sewers. :S

The sheriff turns into a zombie immediately after you leave the room, just turn around and try heading through the door. A small nod to the original is in the west wing of The Nest. When you connect the rail and head into the first area before the save room, there's an open ventilation with moths fluttering around it, possibly a nod to the big moth in the underground facility from the original resident evil.

The reason they were going to go with "Zombie-Licker hybrids" is because the Licker is the final form for the T-Virus zombie. Unfortunately, they've only ever gone with a zombie that's in the process of turning into a Licker twice; once was the Suspended from Resident Evil Outbreak and the Crimson Heads from RE1 remastered. Frankly, I'm a little disappointed they didn't even go with Crimson Heads in RE2 Remake. While I'm sure they would've been a bitch to deal with, it adds to the lore of how a Licker is born.

The fixed camera angles and Leon and Claire teaming up hurt the most. Fixed angles could have been a nice bonus mode to unlock when you complete the game, and it would have been nice to have Leon and Claire interact more.

14:23 I personally don't think it's a bad thing they didn't include co-op in this game. I love co-op games, but in horror it usually removes most of the tension from the game because there's someone you can rely on, at least in my experience.

About the extra keys: Original Resi 2 had you collect a wolf medallion and an eagle medallion to unlock a door to the next zone by shutting off a waterfall in the sewer, maybe devs had similar plan but never implemented it.

If I may elaborate a little further on the Adaptive difficulty, I speed run Resident Evil 2 and 3 Remakes. We utilize what is called an "SRT" SpeedRun Tool, which, on the PC version keys into the running data of the game to display in game time, player, enemy health, and the DA or Difficulty Adjustment. I have spent more time on Resident Evil 3make recently than RE2, as both have similarities in coding, I can share some info regarding what affects the Difficulty. So the general consensus of the better you play, the harder the game gets is correct. Conversely, the more trouble you have with the game, the easier it gets. Things that make the DA go up: hitting shots on enemies; picking up ammo and health; (dodging in RE3make). Likewise things that make the DA go down: getting hit/taking damage; missing shots, dying and continuing the game. So, for instance, you may see a speedrunner purposely fire into a wall or the ground to lower the DA to mitigate some of the randomness (RNG) of the game to have it play a bit more consistent. Also, each difficulty has plateaus of DA, meaning it won't go higher or lower than a certain value. RE2 REmake standard will only get a certain level of difficult on normal difficulty. Where Hardcore, which I believe I agree with Ink Ribbon is set to max value. More from recent experience, Resident Evil 3make has the same plateaus as well. For instance, normal playthroughs have a DA of 5 or so, where Inferno starts at 11 and can go as high as 19. There are ways to play which can mitigate the DA, having the SRT on PC allows us to see the value. Mind you, the DA is a hidden value across all versions of the game, PC, PS4, XBOX, but with some tools, we can see them. Hopefully that helps. If you guys have any questions regarding the DA, please feel free. I love sharing info about it regarding speed runs. @Ink Ribbon, love the content, appreciate it my dude.

The sound design is amazing, the part with dogs near the morgue you can hear them coming and you can tell how far the sound is.

Yeah, same goes with 7 but it was a lot more noticeable in that one, it’s incredible how they always seem to somehow make the game even better, even when it looks impossible to top the previous one! It’s cool as well to see all the little nods & references they chuck into the games cause they know well enjoy them just as much as them! So happy to see resident evil find it’s form again cause I absolutely love this series and the community surrounding it! ❤️

Completely agree with you on the headphones thing. I play all my games with headphones on, but this is one that I couldn't imagine playing without a pair on. Headphones make determining Mr. X's location easy when he's out of sight.

If you check the security camera (main hall, on the pc) of that one officer being attacked by zombies, the background music is from resident evil operation raccoon city.

When I saw Mr. X I was so terrified that I closed the game and shut down my pc and googled the f* out of him.. then I was able to face him again to I opened the game 1 day later.. that's how good this game is💓

I love the way that you do these videos about resident evil, like a big fan (also me).

A few things to mention of: #1) When at the gas station walk around to the other side of the police vehicle and you will see ROAST MASTER COFFEE on a sign board, that same coffee shop is seen in DEAD RISING 2 in the mall segment of the game, #2) whilst in the gas station go to the back of the Isle that houses the freezer with ice cream and you'll see boxes of wine scattered everywhere, look closely at the position of the bottle in the diagram. It is in the centre of the circle, which also looks like the EYE in the loading screen of the original RE 2 game that blinks before you hear the words RE 2 , #3), also in the gas station most of the food packages are either 1 of the 4 colours of herbs that you find throughout the series last but not least the ARKLAY SHERIFF costume for LEON resembles RICK GRIMES from the WALKING DEAD SERIES. 😍😍😍

Would be cool if we got a coop mode now, having to share ammo and they could include a radio as a way to talk to each other over headsets but only when you equip it. Get some things done when you split up, of course you'd have to add more enemies and more locations from both campaigns, plus coop puzzles. I'd play the fuck out of that.

I was wondering about the adaptive difficulty, because my gf started to play RE 2 remake and asked me for help. I haven’t played the game, but she literally has no ammo bc she killed all the enemies she saw (lickers included), and when I see that I was like “man, this is going to be impossible “, specially in the parking lot, with all the fucking dogs around. Somehow we managed to survive and little by little we started to find less enemies and more ammo. Actually our game is pretty stable, bc now we have some ammo, grenades and herbs, but I was thinking that maybe we cannot finish the game because her decisions. 🤔 PS: Playing with headphones or a good audio theater is in another level. It’s so stressing.

Hey kai, while watching this I actually think I saw another Easter egg...in the orphanage where you mention the Lottie drawing, the snail that is on the chalkboard looks VERY similar to the logo for Tango Gameworks, who was one of the developers for The Evil Within series (excellent btw if you haven’t played it). While this wasn’t a Capcom game, it was created by Shinji Mikami

I love this game, and if anyone has not known about it yet.. Many voice actors for these games have done some awesome gameplay which I found quite fascinating. I definitely love this channel too though!

I never realized I wanted this game to have co-op until I watched this. And now I want it more than anything.

5:30 I wanna share a little something. So I was playing and my shots were very lucky so I would shoot zombies in the head and they would explode (normal mode). and when I finally got bit in the leg, my health went from fine to caution.

literally my ONLY gripe with the game (which i love btw) is that they didnt give more interaction between claire and leon. they felt too seperate. the original had them cross paths a lot more and felt more like they were in it together, where as the remake they really felt like after thoughts to each other, up till the end. but still it was fantastic otherwise

6:30 Adaptive difficulty isn't disabled on Hardcore, it just defaults to rank 9 (out of 9) and bottoms out at rank 8. You can easily test this by dying enough to drop your score, then getting bitten by a zombie and only dropping to Caution instead of Danger.

Back when the RE2 remake was fist confirmed, before the series got the kick in the pants it needed with RE7, my friends and I would debate on whether it would be fixed camera or play more like the newer style of games. One Idea I had was to have "solo" A and B scenarios with a fixed camera, and then have a "C scenario" based on Darkside Chronicles's version of events witb Leon and Claire working together and using the playstyle from Revelations 2

The picture block that Sherry has to use when first playing the orphanage level can be rotated and observed. On one side, that would not normally be seen at all when solving the puzzle, has an etching of a jaguar in reference to the 3 Stones Claire has to use to open Chief Irons's secret elevator in the original PS1 version.
