Agreed... Game of Thrones is an easy pick. I tend to play this more now with four players, though, thanks to the Feast of Crows expansion.

I have played several games of the new Planet Unknown at 6 players and it's really fun and quick as everyone is playing their turn simultaneously. Fun asymmetric polyomino game. I also have played Lords of Waterdeep with the Scoundrels and Skullport expansion and found it quite fun and a bit chaotic with the intrigue cards flowing around.

Siderial Confluence was so confusing at first, but turned out to be a lot of fun. We played with four players.

Architects of the West Kingdom with the Age of Artisans expansion works well at 6. Architects is a game with minimal downtime so plays well across all player counts. Planet Unknown also works well at 6.

A of WK does work at 6, but rather not go that high if I don't have to.

My 10 (not exactly in order, but roughly from most favorite to least): Peloponnes (w/expansion), Peloponnes Card Game (w/expansion), 7 Wonders Architects, The City (w/expansion), Fantasy Realms, Fire of Eidolon, Flash Point Fire Rescue, Rise of Augustus, L.L.A.M.A., For Sale. I'm definitely in the "Split at 6" camp.

Fantasy Realms is decent. I never really got into For Sale and I found Rise of Augustus to be lengthy for a BINGO game.

Regarding Scythe. I played yellow twice did okay, but I was not even close to winning. The next game I played black and won :)

Viticulture was the first game that came to mind for my group. Scythe was my second thought. Decrypto, and Just One would be reasonable party games. I might consider Troyes Dice, One Shot, or Welcome To...The Moon.

I love Scythe but not at 6-player as I feel 2 factions have better capacity to expand. I normally play this at 5 or 7 player

I've found that 7 is too much for Scythe and 5 or 6 (for my group) hits the spot. Viticulture is long, and we play with Tuscany, which makes it longer, but I'm with Mark on this one and like a nice 3-5 hour experience. That being said, I don't have many 6 player games and Celestia looks quite good and I think my family would play it. I liked the Downforce pick but would probably swing toward Rallyman GT.

I have never had a large disagreement with someone. Mission red planet and citadels are my number 1 and 2 fav games of all time, respectively. However, MRP is a specifically three player pretty much exclusively for me. If I had 6, citadels would be preferable! Mrp is just not enough strategy at more than 3, maasaybe 4 players. At 3 it is ideał!

GF9 didn't originally put out Dune... that game originally came out from Avalon Hill back in 1979... so I wouldn't give GF9 credit for the thematic aspect of that one. I guess you can give them credit for sniffing it out, though. lol ;-) Also... Dune is probably my all-time favorite 6 player game, but with the caveat that everyone playing is invested in the theme... if everyone is into the theme, you can't have a better time gaming.

One of the best 6 players game that I'm afraid to not be able to play or may be once in a lifetime is Twilight Imperium IV. Hard to find 4 players so 6... will see. Otherwise, a lot of party games are great at 6 and GOT or Dune are great too.

5 and especially 6 players really is an issue when it comes to having enough good games for that player count. I have analyzed my database incl 315 games (games I have ever played) and checked according to the "best + recommended + not recommended" and - of course - which player counts are possible. concerning which games are at least recommended, there is the following proportion for each player count: 1 34% 2 71% 3 82% 4 84% 5 41% 6 19% 7 9% you can really see the issue starting with 5 players and getting more drastical with even more. concerning games, you havent even mentioned with 6 players , I would add: - Spartacus (with expansion) - Colt Express (edit: you mentioned that in the end) - Between two Castles ...and my absolute insider tip (and IMHO totally underrated) is: - Amul this is a great mixture of kind-of-drafting (put and take from a central market), set collection and hand management. 6 (followed by 5 and 7, then 8 and 4) is even the BEST player count. as you dont do an pass-hand-drafting, more players arent a problem. it's the opposite: the more players, the more interesting cards and sets are added to the game. the game length also is no issue. while with 4-5 you can make it in less than an hour, even with 7-8 it wont be more than 90min.

Colt Express I think would just be utter chaos at 6. Amul I've not tried actually.
