As a solo gamer myself, I'm super happy and excited to see a lot of amazing games I've enjoyed this year on this list. Fantastic list Mike always excited to see this list come out each year.

Every time I’m in the mood for a solo game I keep coming back to the GI Joe Deck Building Game. It’s the most fun I’ve ever had playing a game solo

Originally I never thought I would even think about getting twilight inscription. But now that you mentioned it can be done solo…I might take a look at it! Although from what I remember the dice tower did not like it more than twilight imperium.

_Hoplomachus:_ _Victorum_ arrived just before the end of the year, and even after just one full playthrough it's my favorite solo game of 2022. It has a great mix of dice-based combat, route planning, and variety of opponents and arenas. The game also does a really good job of making you feel like you're playing a legendary warrior surrounded by loyal (but alas, far less durable) companions, traveling through the ancient world. My runner-up (if only because I have only scratched the surface on it so far) is the HEXplore It campaign book, _Klik's_ _Madness._ *WOW!* It takes what is sort of a sandbox style game and gives it a huuuuge, overarching prequel story. It may be the most detailed, expansive, and downright incredible campaign book for a board game (or heck, for an RPG) that I've read. I can't imagine how much work they put into it.

So glad Resist is not only on your list Mike, but at the penultimate spot! Been championing this game from jump on Gamefound and it does not disappoint. After months of playing now, it has become my overall favorite solo game!

Great list, thanks for sharing, Mike. Two solo games I’ve really enjoyed this year are Merchants of the Dark Road and Great Western Trail, Argentina.

I was so surprised that HEAT: pedal to the metal didn’t make the list. The Ai is super easy to run, and makes for very tight races. I would never play without the Ai even in multiplayer. Great fun game. Equally in solo!

Lands of Galzyr-tried to find it. Kickstarter is closed and it is not available anywhere in the USA any time soon. I think it won’t be available until summer, maybe.

Given how you've felt in the past about other Cole games, its a shame that John Company 2E didn't end up here (or even get played?). It's definitely one of the best solo experiences this year, and in my opinion is one of the year's best releases period.

I dunno, every game by Rolland Wright game has the same mechanics and I know people like his stuff but I feel like he should try something different

I wonder if Mike played Massive Darkness 2 solo yet? I know Tom played the heck out of it and I've played it a bunch this week, it's a really, really solid solo game! I'm also on-board with Mike on Twilight Inscription, that games great solo. In fact, the way voting works in the solo and two-player matches is much better, in my opinion, that the way it works in games with 3+ players. So much so that I have a house rule to use the solo voting rules in higher player counts now.

This is the list I was waiting for....just wish it were a bit longer. Honestly, pretty surprising list. But I wonder how many were left off for inclusion in the main list, that he still also enjoys solo. Because I don't believe there was crossover between the two, if I remember correctly.

I heard that Viticulture World can be broken by selling a farm at the beginning of each scenario.

Mike's #1 for the year was Endless Winter, it has a solo mode, and it's not on this list. Can I interpret that as it's NOT a good solo mode (I've heard mixed things), or he's only focusing on games that were more "designed" for solo/co op?

I’m reading Batman: Dark Knight Returns doesn’t have replayability and is pretty easy once one has beaten it. If this is true, that’s quite unfortunate for a solo game. I wonder if Mike Dilisio has finished the game and what he thinks of it after playing it a second time? I’m a big fan of the graphic novel but I’m on the fence on this one.

I like this list. But what about a top ten list of multi player board games, with optional solo modes?

The look of the board for Dark Knight Returns has always turned me off. The more I hear about the game play though, the more I think I will grab it from my local game store.

This year was meh for solo if and only if you don't care about games with minis like me. Only stellarion this year was worth the buy. Really don't get how resist came to the top its a great game for sure but sooo samey, wish they had a way to vary the game not through those stupid scenarios that for me taste worth nothing
