MCG, 100,000+, all types of games and concerts since 1853. Plus home of Melbourne 1956 Olympics it is also part of Melbourne Park which has Australia Open Tennis, Athletics track and League/Union Field. Easily the number 1. No other stadium or complex comes close. Incomparable really.

You missed an obvious one: The Louisiana Superdome. Not the first domed stadium, but it set the standard for all others that followed. It's hosted the most Super Bowls, and is the home of the New Orleans Saints and their devoted, passionate fans. The Superdome has had events from concerts to Mardi Gras krewes, basketball to wrestling. In 2005 it was damaged severely by Hurricane Katrina while acting as a makeshift shelter. A year later, the Saints would return to a triumphant homecoming. Other stadiums have come and gone, yet the Superdome stands.

Old Trafford is only famous because so many people hopped on the bandwagon of United when they were actually winning, Anfield is known to have one of the best atmospheres in European football, and is home to considerably more history than Old Trafford

An honorable mention, before the 2002 renovation, would've been Soldier Field in Chicago. It had so much history behind it: the Roman columns, college football, Chicago Bears games, concerts, etc. Then the renovation made it look like a spaceship just landed on the field. It was taken off the National Historic Landmarks list cause of that.

TBH, I think the MCG deserves a ranking, because it's not just for Melbourne, it's basically for all of Australia
