What about the older lady (can't remember her name) who Anna and her BF stayed with? According to the show, Anna charged $400,000 on her credit cards without her permission. I suspect that character was made up, because I haven't seen any mention of her anywhere else.

There's a difference between 'writing the story as more interesting than it was in reality for the Netflix series' and 'getting facts wrong' - it's called creative license. The Netflix series doesn't claim to be 100% 'true' - it's not a documentary.

I see Anna as sociopathic. She wasn't violent, but certainly cruel. She had a mission in her mind and all the other people around her were pawns to be used and discarded. That's pretty much the DSM5 definition in clarity. Even today, in this interview, she needs names of people she wronged. That's because she still doesn't understand the depth of her actions. Only she matters. WOW. Talk about consistent character or the lack of it.

I don’t understand everyone applauding Julia Garner. She played really well but completely different person than true Anna Sorokin. She didn’t manage to portray the key personality trait of Anna - her charm, that helped her manipulate everyone. What I mean is that during the whole season I whole-heartedly hated Anna. She not once convinced me to be a good manipulator because she was so unlikable. 9 episodes one hour each. And then I watched true Anna Sorokin on her interview for Australian news. And although she seemed like she had no remorse and was completely unapologetic for what she did…5 minutes of watching and I understood it straight away. Feigned innocence. What is charm, really? IMO, she made those she took into her circle feel important because she took them into her circle. Did she flatter them, massage their egos? She never paid them the money she owed them, but she paid them attention. Plus, she has nothing but contempt for those who she conned. Including Netflix, and possibly HBO. Even the eventual publisher of her undoubtedly ghost-written pretend tell-all Art of the Delvey. One of her talents is the ability to recognize potential targets/victims; if someone meets her criteria, they’ve already lost.

She was not coerced or forced to do it, she genuinely liked the lifestyle and sharing that with her friends. She had to know that a magazine photo editor couldn't afford 5 star dinners, designer dresses, and foreign trips for elite hotels but she didn't care. Don't you think it's a bit cruel to constantly invite a friend to activities you know for a fact are completely out of their price range? Anna made up for this by voluntary choosing to comp her friends bills. Where she crossed the line is during the hotel incident. Rachel and Anna were not the only people there. There were 4 people total and forcing the 4 person bill all on Rachel is not justified in any way.

For people who keep commenting “why was everyone running around Anna” “why was Vivian so biased” etc. Please look into narcissistic abuse it has a really strong hold on people to the point you’ll be vouching for that person even when all the signs are there to show you their evil. They portrayed that spot on. I’ve myself experienced this so I get it but if you haven’t I understand it looks very strange or as if they were trying to portray her as this innocent victim. The series I believe was trying to show us that people like Anna know how to manipulate your emotions to a point where you start feeling everyone is against them and they are the real victim. This is why you see everyone turning against each other instead of Anna. This is what narcissists and sociopaths do. They make everyone else their and YOUR enemy so you’re so focused on each other that you are distracted from the fact she’s the problem and she can continue her abuse whilst having you feeling sorry for her. It’s the same abuse tactic cult leaders use. Scary stuff.

This is exactly why Anna was found not guilty against the charge with Rachel. Rachel willingly handed her card over when she could have said no, and then expected Anna to pay it all back. I still think Rachel was in the right here. Some rich people, like Anna, enjoy spending money on their friends. Rachel didn't expect to pay 60k - probably didn't even know the bill could be that high - when Anna was supposed to pay. It was their arrangement. If it was about a 20-dollar meal, I'd say Rachel was mooching, but 60k??? Who has that kind of money lying around? The only thing Rachel did wrong IMO was using her work credit card. She shouldn't even have brought it with her. Company cards are for business needs. Honestly I don't understand how anyone can take Anna's side in any of this. Would you want a friend like her? A friend who cheats and steals and then yells "I don't have time for this" when you ask for your money back. How do you watch this and think Rachel is somehow the bad guy? And if you dislike smooches, Anna was only too happy to live on Chase's money, stay at Nora's or Val's place, and when she lost her money, she wanted to appeal to Kacy's sympathy and live with her. She never had her own place, and the money she spent often wasn't her own.

I really liked the show. The hospital OD part was not researched. A psychiatrist would be in civilian clothes and usually do an interview in their office. At a hospital they would use their security to keep the patient from running off the unit. This seemed to be depicted as a combination hospital and mental health unit. The security at mental health facilities are called orderlies, mental health workers or mental health technicians depending on the facility. In the show he said some physical therapist would restrain her. A physical therapist helps injured, or ill people improve movement and manage pain through rehabilitation and does not provide security and does not restrain people.

Vivian Kent was excellent too. I like how real She was. We are used to seeing perfect versions of people on screen but she was an interesting, “real” person. Both her flaws and talents shined.

I must say the person I hate the most in this series is Vivian Kent, not Anna Sorokin. I just can’t stand her attitude, few times being disrespectful (is that “right” or “wrong”?) Plus, her acting was awful, so extra. Julia did it better 😁

I'm intrigued by this particular show so far. Though I'm a bit flustered and weirded out by Garner's accent as Anna Sorokin/ Anna Delvey, I can just let it slide this once. Anna Chlumsky has truly gotten so far ever since My Girl in the early 1990s I believe. Wouldn't have expected her to be a part of this show, and now look where is. Apart from Julia Garner, there's a unique balance to their characters' personalities. Delvey seems to be the more aloof yet sophisticated type while Kent leans more on the generic side yet somehow manages to get me to laugh just a bit due to her overreaction to some things. But don't get me wrong, though. Vivian Kent, as a character, may present herself as quite annoying or even bland from time to time on the show, but she still shines even though it fades in and out. So far I'm starting to get invested in Val, Neff, and probably even Rachel herself. That's all I'm gonna say for now since I'm not yet done watching the whole thing.

In an interview the actress stated that the accent was a mix of Russian and German accents with some American style inflections thrown in toward the end of sentences. She nailed the accent perfectly.

I don't think the accent was even close to accurate. If you watch Anna's interviews, she annunciates her "R"s but Juila doesn't do that and pronounces those words in a British accent (at 3:54 the way she says "better" and "perfect flats"). Anna doesn't have any sort of British accent. At 2:00, you can hear the way Anna says "PERson" but Julia would pronounce it as "PAHsin". Needless to say, I know accents are hard and probably even harder to act with an accent so props to Julia for her effort.
