@elopix234
@elopix234 3 жыл бұрын
Well it does definitely happen in Europe. Since you can buy officially beer and wine with 16 in Germany. And of course you always had older friends for the „hard“ stuff (house partys included). The first time I was at a club I was 15, with 16/17 we probably went 2 times a month (at least) to a club in our city. At first you asked someone looking somewhat like you for an ID. After a few times you knew the doormans, people who will „get you in“ etc. It was never a problem 🤷🏼‍♀️ and the drinking and clubbing was never an issue with regard to our education. We all have at least our bachelors degree.

Most unrealistic thing in teen shows for me was all the characters having a lavish social life filled with parties, elaborate hangouts, and going to bars/clubs despite being 16. It's disturbing. I remember watching Dawson's Creek back in high school and being grossed out. Now it looks worse as Joshua Jackson looks SO young compared to the teacher...but it's worse because his character was supposed to be 16 and hers was 36. I'm close to that age and I find anyone 8-10 years younger than me just looks like a baby. I don't understand why people think it's sexy. It's just disgusting.
@WrenFaithBridger

They did that in Degrassi. There was a teacher/student relationship and the teacher not only got fired, but implied that the student was obsessed with him. In another episode, a student accused a teacher with being inappropriate with her. That little story line lasted for weeks while the teacher was put on administrative leave while being investigated...even AFTER the student admitted to lying. Which are only a very, very few reasons why Degrassi was the best teen show ever.

@Linn Baardsen, this is why asking a girl or woman "how old are you" is extremely significant for a boy or man to do. Screw the possibility that she would get offended by a dude asking that question. "A lady never reveals her age" or something along those lines is something that I heard before. I never accepted nor believed it and I still don't. With the false allegations from women to men happening as often as when someone takes a piss, shit or brushes his/her teeth, no dude of any age wants, needs or shouldn't be accused of anything that he truly did not commit or perform on a woman. I have asked a woman how old she is, but didn't answer the question. Maybe she's insecure, feels or thinks that it's not my business or something else. Be that as it may, just as a woman needs to and should protect herself from any man or woman, a man needs to and should protect himself from any man or woman, including the transsexual women, which are men who dress and identify as women. I'll still ask a woman how old she is, regardless of who she is, how old she really is, how she feels about her age, etc. It's not to intrude on a woman's privacy and emotional space, which isn't the same as physical space. Sometimes it's for a man's protection for himself or another man.

I am someone who finished over 80 tv shows and I know by now what show will do what, which character will say what. Most tv shows out there are predictable as hell because of lazy writing. Riverdale has sadly become a cheesy, predictable tv show due to lazy writing. This can be proven by anyone who works in the industry and this is a constructive criticism. As someone who expects the best out of the shows she's watching, Riverdale is just not cutting it anymore for me and I no longer like it. But this is just me, I expect greatness and I can point out the cliches by now. Other people might not get hung up on these things and they can watch this show with pure joy. Dawson's Creek is my favorite show and I feel this was overall one the most "normal" depiction of teenagers. Sure they look much older and they were all attractive, but they were not hunks or supermodels nor they had amazing fashion sense, a lot of the plots revolved around school and their relationships with their parents. Degrassi, comes close as, of course, the entire plot of the show is the school and the cast is their very own age, the grew in front of our eyes, but it was WAY too dramatic to have the cast go through so so much!

Naley is the best couple every. Not because they got together at a young age, but because they stand by each other. They grow together, let each other evolve both separately and together. It's a couple that shows that loving someone takes hard work and it is possible to grow as a person without growing apart. Most relationships today end in break ups or divorce, so it's nice to see a couple making it. Still showing it's hard work, but that it's worth it

Yup, all of those are true. At the same time, people watch teen dramas for the same reason they watch vampire romantic flicks - it's not realistic, but it is glamorous. Shows are ultimately escapism from reality. You can choose a character who shares some traits with you, and through Forer's effect, identify with, and live vicariously through them. The 'you' on the show gets a new car? Sweet! The you on the show gets that hot guy she's been crushing on since 9th grade? Wish fulfilment to the max!

I’m confused as to where most of these teenagers get their money from. A hand full of them might come from money but for other characters between the amount clothes they have, times they are at cafes or restaurants, the amount of make up to look flawless, college tuition when they go and that’s just the basics. Remember a few like Nathen and Haley had an apartment, and Haley was pregnant her last year in high school, others had to raise kids, some took extracurricular classes and running businesses, add to the fact that the ones with jobs look like they have low paying jobs. So unless a combination of the kids saved up all their birthday, Christmas pocket money and pay checks since birth, the rich kids and their parents are paying for everything, and all obtaining a scholarship theirs no way they can afford their lifestyle

Also anime can have really deep meanings many times and give life lessons, which doesn’t imply to 80% of the live action tv shows, I have watched many live action series in the past and haven’t ever came across one, which was that memorable and inspirational as anime are to me.
