These are the MOVIES. Very different from the books. People continously assume that what happened in the movies happened in the books. IT DIDN'T. Dumbledore only ever suspected Harry was horcrux, it wasn't until almost the end of Half-Blood Prince that he knew for sure. As for the house-elves, it was a great way of depicting how slavery & racism is still viewed, to this day. It's fight that, unfortunately, many people do not support. It was also not even mentioned in the movies. In the books, however, many people; including Harry & Ron, do join that fight and the Elves are freed. Many chose to stay at Hogwarts as that was their home & they loved the students. As for the Time Turner, look closely at the hour glass. Does it look like it is the size of one that can be set to go back years & years ago? Seriously, the last words between Snape & Dumbledore. Dumbledore: "After all this time"? Snape: "Always". What exactly was Dumbledore supposed to tell Harry? Also, it wasn't Dumbledore's story to tell. Professor Moody was kidnapped by Barty Crouch junior & drank polyjuice potion. He looked, sounded, & acted like the Professor. Professor Quirrell was probably vetted before Voldemort got a hold of him, & Prof. Lovejoy was a great liar & excellent at charms. Obviously, through the vetting process they spoke to people in his life that he used his amnesia charm on in order for his lies to pass for truth. Also, as for the other things, yes questionable. Yes, the Dementors punishment is horrific, as is stated, this is the Wizarding World. Things are done differently, mostly because of the first Wizard War & trying to prevent another one. READ THE BOOKS, stop relying on the movies. Too much of what's important is left out of the movies.

I think a huge part of the reason why Dumbledore never told Harry everything was BECAUSE he was a horcrux and Voldemort constantly had access to Harry's mind, so if Harry knew every little detail then Voldemort would as well. If Harry knew everything from the start, Voldemort would've likely won and taken over the world.

See, I can respect and acknowledge the truth of that statement. At the same time i get incredibly frustrated with the character because all the other characters treat him like he's infallible. And it never really stops. At the same time, so much could be avoided if he treated other people like they had agency and could make decisions on their own. I don't mind a complex and problematic. @@alexlazzerly3677 i see your point about Snape and Aberforth calling him out. At the same time i always got the sense other characters viewed as wrong/bitter for doing that. And at the end, at least Snape, is shut down with essentially "trust the plan" and also "you're a worse person than me". And the plan works! I agree a lot of the times we put mentors on pedestals. But inevitably we end up reconciling the idea our authority figures are imperfect and we have to make our own way and taken off the pedestal. I just never feel like Dumbledore gets taken off the pedestal. It's mostly just - yeah that wasn't great, but greater good and all that. Someone who isn't Snape (because he gets to be the moral figure on exactly 0 subjects) saying that an action was shitty and he should feel shitty about would feel better for me.

I'm an adult. Any adult who thinks that Dumbldore sucks is short-sighted and did not take in the books properly. I'm not going to go into a rant but if you're an adult and you believe that "Dumbldore sucks" then you're obviously in need of some more years in the oven. Only a child could read those books and come to such a basic conclusion. Albus is a complex character. He is arguably the most complex character in the entire book series and only an adult with a sharp and properly enlightened mind will be able to read in between the lines and take in all his complexities to be able to appreciate the character properly. You'll know when you've done that cuz you'll start to realise that you feel more sad for Dumbldore that you feel angry at him.

Still, no valid reason to never help Harry a little more as a kid. Mrs. Figg was surely reporting things to Dumbledore that should have been adressed. She actually says she couldn't make her occasional babysitting fun so Mrs. Dudley would continue to call her. Harry could have had a proper bed, proper clothes, proper food, reasonable chores. And still grow up a nice kid.
@amandafelix-amadi5334
@amandafelix-amadi5334 Жыл бұрын
@@mffmoniz2948 People seem to conveniently forget that Dumbldore is human too. He had the whole plan on his shoulders. The plan that the faith of the Wizarding world rested on. He alone was carrying that heavy burden while running a school filled with children and trying to keep the ministry at bay. They were facing the darkest wizard in the entire wizardom, the plan needed to go as perfectly as it possibly could. There weren't a lot of things that could be interfered with. Now, not only did he have to come up with this plan, alone and with the ministry breathing down his neck, he couldn't even share it with anyone. He was alone. In the end, that plan is what saved the Wizarding world. Dumbldore was undeniably a good person though, he cared about people. I mean he even refused to let Draco murder him so as not to "taint his soul", so he had Snape do it instead. He did good where he could, helped Hagrid and Lupin, offered to pay Dobby for work, let Sybil stay in the castle, and so much more. I know Dumbldore comes off as this invincible God, who can do anything, so it's easy to blame him for every wrong in the story, but in the end, he's still just a brilliant but flawed, lonely old man with a heavy burden to bare on his aging back. Didn't you notice that in that Kingscross scene/chapter, he seems so much lighter, because he had finally played his part, and he was free. Don't you see, he HAD to play God, because someone had to. Someone had to shoulder that heavy,..... lonely burden. Someone had to know every part of the plan and all the pieces and variables involved in the plan but still be disciplined enough not to go moving the pieces around when things were sad or wrong or when something wasn't suiting their conscious. Like I said, very heavy burden to bare, and not a lot of people could have executed it to near perfection the way he did. It's actually very sad and that great man deserves to be cut some slack. So yeah.... it's a lot more complicated than just simply saying "Dumbldore sucks".

The house elves dilemma is complicated; they're based on mythical creatures like boggarts (not the ones you know in HP) and broonies, basically small creatures that helped with household chores and some of them would be insulted if you tried to pay them for their work that they'd leave. This is what Rowling was portraying with the house elves, esp in the Goblet of Fire and Order of the Phoenix books where the elves take great insult to Hermione's attempts to convince them to ask for wages and clothes that they kick the trio out of the kitchen and stop cleaning the Gryffindor common room. You might think it's a bit much on their end, but considering the creatures they're inspired by, its accurately portrayed. Though I love Hermione, MsMojo is wrong, she isn't perfect. While Hermione *did* have good intentions, she was also misinformed by having Dobby be the first house elf she heard about. She saw and heard him being happy about his freedom and looking for paid work and thought that's exactly what all the house elves should work for too, but Hagrid himself said that there's always the one outlier (can't remember his exact words), and Fred and George told her that the house elves working in Hogwarts were happy. In fact the house elves in Hogwarts prob have it better than most house elves; you've seen how Dobby was treated by the Malfoys, and most house elves work for rich and pure-blood families expected to take care of the household by themselves, while the Hogwarts elves work with many others so the workload is divided. It's also the only thing both sides know; house elves have always been helpful, looking to serve someone, while wizards prob (and let's face it most people would take advantage if they were real) were glad to accept their help. While it sucks that it isn't an equal partnership, and while Hermione could've started a change to this, she started too forcefully, wanting everyone to change things right away. What she didn't consider is that most students of course wouldn't be onboard cause they (unlike Hermione) have lived in the wizarding world their whole lives and to them this *is* just the norm; it'd be like if someone walked up to you saying 'i just finished my first botany class and realized flowers are actually vegetables. Please sign this petition if you also agree flowers should be sold in supermarkets and advertised as food.' Plus, the only other house elf she knew and the first she actually met was Winky, a house elf who literally became an alcoholic cause she became so depressed cause she was freed from her master as a punishment. If Hermione had succeeded in freeing a bunch of house elves, they wouldn't exactly be jumping for joy, they'd become just as depressed or angry, esp since it's hard for a house elf to find a job when they've been freed, its the equivalent to being blacklisted in your field of work.

The hunting of muggle borns etc was the hunting of Jews The forced enrollment into Hogwarts by deathly hallows reminded me off the forced enrollment into the Hitler Youth This was the second wizarding war (representing ww2) Fudge being in denial about voldermort's return. This represents Neville chamberlain's attempts to convince Hitler not to attack Poland in 1938 (Munich agreement) The failure for Fudge to do anything- chamberlain's approach to dealing with Hitler was limited and did not stop Poland's invasion. Perhaps because that's not how it's shown to work in the film. It also makes zero sense why Hermoine was given one in the first place. The way the movies portray time travel suggests that in their universe, time travel is on a semi-closed loop. So instead of it being that you can't change the past by time traveling (i.e. going back in time to prevent Harry's parents from getting killed would then prevent you from having a reason to go back in time, meaning his parents would be killed), its more that you create the present you experienced already by time traveling- except Hermoine using the time turner to take extra classes contradicts that, which is a problem of poor writing. Even the phrase "Terrible things happen to wizards who mess with time" makes it clear that, at least to some degree, you can affect the past by time traveling.

Sirius actively tried to murder him, and Dumbledore did nothing about it except swear Snape to secrecy about Remus. The pensive scene is also horrific, and yes, of course, Snape shouldn't have called Lily a mudblood, I don't think that excuses the marauders either. Still, until they think Sirius was a traitor, he was still considered a golden boy. Both Minerva and Albus are all praise for James. Also, James's continued harassment of Lily for seven years until she says yes is seen as a great live story, harassmentthat included actual harm to her best friend, whom he deemed a 'competitor'.

Its a complaint about using fat as a proxy for laziness and gluttony. Unfortunately as a byproduct of these character traits and combined with the characters themselves it works. The content creators have mistakenly credited the fatness as the whole picture, but honestly watching old John Candy movies that guy is fantastic and everyone loves him and nobody cares hes fat. Its a combination of attitudes and fatness that we see here but instead of recognising it as an acceptable literary allusion they just call it fat shaming, which is somewhat lazier than the original material.

The Wizarding world is basically fascist. Government control information, there is no democracy at the ministry, and the leader is chosen internally by a select few. Moreover, the ministry is openly accepting bribes and it is treated as normal. Additionally, the wizarding world is a meritocracy. As in, your accomplishments determine your status. Being talented and well read is supposed to be good things. Yet, Hermione is treated like crap for being studious and dedicated to learning. Basically a genius. In a society based on meritocracy, she would have a very high status because of that alone. But that's not how she is portrayed.

@@maxxymrice6200 Indeed. I'm a writer myself, so I have a different insight into the process of creating a story. Creating a flawed society is not an issue, but in Harry Potter, the society is treated as separate from the people within. Voldemort only represented a wider issue, he had followers because they agreed with him. Rowling is still presenting the wizarding world as good, even though nothing changes about the fundamental issues. In some ways, it could have been more interesting to read about a character that started out within the system. First, that's all they know so they don't question it. As time passes, their worldview shifts as they are exposed to more ideas. Making them want to change how things work for the better. Setting them up against the establishment. Instead we got a golden boy character with no real flaws and no real personality who in the end defended status quo, took down the boogie man, and did nothing to actually change people's minds.

And Buckbeak!! They also save Buckbeak!! AND the thing with the time-turners is, that Hermione EXPLAINS in the book AND movie (I think), I might add, is that time-turners are EXTREMELY dangerous to use & awful things can happen to those "who mess with time"; that's why they're not used more often. Plus, J.K. purposefully DESTROYED ALL the time-turners in the 7th book just for THIS VERY reason. Of course, then the Cursed Child came along and messed all that up, but most Potterheads (including me) don't really count that as cannon, anyway, so. . . AND Mad-Eye Moody was NOT a Death-Eater; that was Brady Couch Jr. DISGUISED as Moody!! Jeez, DO YOUR RESEARCH!! AND I'm also really tired of all the Hufflepuffs being labeled as "stoners"!! That is NOT who we are; we are KIND, LOYAL, FRIENDLY, PATIENT, HARD-WORKING, & FAIR!! We are NOT lazy & a bunch of "stoners"!!! JEEZ!!! Read the darn books!! Or watch Fantastic Beasts & look @ Newt!! There are better ADULT questions to ask: HOW is it possible that NO muggle employee at King’s Cross has ever questioned why a bunch of school age children show up EVERY September 1st with VERY strange animals (ex. owls 🦉, rats 🐀, toads 🐸)? And how is teen pregnancy just not a thing at Hogwarts? You got a bunch of hormonal teenagers all sneaking out at night & seemingly no ADULT supervision in the Common Rooms at night, too … Okay, yes, you got Head Boys & Girls, BUT they’re still hormonal teenagers, too, don’t forget … Is there just a form of magical birth control that stops ALL pregnancies from even happening at all?? … If so, I want it! 😅 Also, why doesn’t Molly Weasley have a job?? I get why she didn’t when her kids were all little & she had no one to look after them , but they all grown or at school now … and she’s clearly a gifted witch … Another person working COULD help with the money problem … 😊 Maybe she just doesn’t want a job, which is more than fine with me; I’m not judging her (or anyone) for not wanting to work, but still, it always just seemed a little odd to me for her NOT to be working … Plenty women work in the Wizarding World and I mean, it’s not like she needed any further education TO work in the Wizarding World, unless she wanted to be an Auror (which also seemed a little bit odd to me, thinking about it now 😅) … 🤔 Oh, and: How is Newt still able to keep his wand & keep practicing magic 🪄 when he was expelled while Hagrid (who was also expelled, btw) wasn’t even allowed to keep his wand and had it COMPLETELY destroyed??

i completely disagree with the points about dumbledore. he could not have told harry all this information because voldemort is excetionally good at legilemency therefor telling harry all this information is a giant risk and who would tell a 11 year old "hey kid there is a part of the soul of the dude who killed your parents inside of you and you have to die to get rid of it and save the wizarding world" dumbledore did not know harry was a horcrux until he got the gaunt ring (6th book) by then dumbledore also knew about voldemort returning using harrys blood and therefor keeping lilys protection up. so the dumbledores only fault was not telling harry he was horcrux in half blood prince but at this point he knew harry sucked at occlumency so telling him everything would just be information for voldemort + harry needed to conviced he would die so he could cast the sacrifical protection on all others during the batlle of hogwarts in conclusion dumbledore did everything right

This last point is interesting bc house elves are less pronounced in the movies. For those who did not read the books the Hogwarts kitchen is run by a mass of house elf slaves. So all the food for all the students and staff for each meal is prepared and served by these elves. In the movies, you only see Dobby and Kreacher briefly. Also Hermione's opinion against their treatment is never brought up. I might be wrong on this last point, but if I remember right, I think Dumbledore is the master of the Elves that work in the kitchen.

9:26 Excuse me, PERFECT?! 🤦‍♀️ Hermione may have had the right idea about improving the lives of House elves but she went about it in ALL the wrong ways! She expected all the Hogwarts House elves to just change their tune overnight about their servitude when they’d been indoctrinated into it for CENTURIES & were actually happy where they were (even though they should’ve thought more for themselves like Dobby - who was considered abnormal among elf kind) she knitted hats to FORCE them to leave servitude, leading them to feel so uncomfortable only Dobby was willing to clean the Gryffindor common room, meaning Hermione’s actions left him with FAR more work to do. And for someone who struggles with the stigma of being muggle born, Hermione certainly isn’t afraid to put others down whom she sees as beneath her like Professor Trelawney simply because she sucked at Divination or Luna Lovegood because she was unique & had a different way of thinking. She also tends to think she knows best, given how she went behind Harry’s back when she told Professor McGonagall about his mystery Firebolt broom - yes she feared for his safety but it was Harry’s choice in how to deal with something that was HIS, even if it was potentially dangerous (which it turned out not to be). As well as dismissing when Harry (or others) hears or sees something she can’t. Granted, she’s not as bad in the films with these flaws but her having them is kind of the point - she is also brilliant, brave & reliable in a pinch but like all great characters, no one’s perfect. Although I’m not sure how much I’d like Hermione as a person if her annoying features presented as often as her good points 🤷‍♀️

Can we just discuss Sirius Black for a minute? When arrested for the supposed murder of Peter Pettigrew, he was sent straight to Azkaban without trial, Veritaserum, or any chance to defend himself. Dumbledore knew the truth about Peter as the secret keeper for the Potters yet did not speak up about it, leaving everyone thinking Black had betrayed them to Voldemort. He condemned Black to more then a decade in prison for something he could prove he didn’t do. Then when Sirius provides his house to help the Order, Dumbledore confines him to it. One prison for another. At a time when he could help the most, Dumbledore put him in a position he could help the least. What a way to say thank you. And locking the deadly perils that protected the Philosophers Stone behind a door you could unlock with a spell from a first years’ spell book, then telling kids “don’t go there”. Brilliant thinking if ever I heard it. Salazar Slytherin was a parcel tongue, everyone knows. He hid a mysterious chamber in the school, everyone knows. “The castle has been searched several times” we are told. Sherlock Holmes, they ain’t.

5:00 Dear MsMojo, I really love your Harry Potter content, but the thing you said about time turners is not quite right. You see, the time turners in Harry Potter can only go back a few hours max, so they can't solve all problems. Also, the sort of time turner is one with a closed time loop, so without paradoxes. This means that everything that happens with the time turner is what happens because the time turner was there all along. So saving Harry's parents or solving any other problems would be impossible due to these reasons... And even if you could go back in time for more that 6 decades to kill Voldemort, you would have to stay that amount of time in that world. Just look at the Prisoner of Azkaban, Hermione spends here time in 2 classed at once, so technically, she would have aged at least 8 months or so. Keeping that in mind, if someone could go back and killed Voldemort, he would have aged arount 60 years. Lastly, in the Order of the Phoenix book, when they get into the Ministry of Magic, they see that all the time turners are broken and gone. J. K. Rowling did this on purpose because she realized that the time travel plot would be to complicated. This is not a hate comment, this is just some explanation on why this statement is false using the books and the internet.

A lot of these I myself noticed as a kid such as the fact that they keep on calling Hogwarts the safest school and yet all of that danger happens. Lol The teacher background checks I always questioned since I was a kid too. Lol However I feel like most of this video is kind of too harsh. Dumbledore wasn't always purposely perfect but he had to let Harry be ready to sacrifice himself as the Horcrux which is why he didn't tell him or anything or else Harry wouldn't be brave enough. Also, even as a kid I always caught onto the fact that having your souls sucked by the dementors by the Dementor's Kiss was something I never really wanted. As for the number one pick, the other characters did care that the elves were slaves and Hermione even got Harry to be nice to Kreacher in the 7th book making Kreacher come around. Just sometimes the elves just loved working and Hermione at times took things way too far. I don't remember how old I was but I was nine when I learned that love potions isn't right due to controlling someone to fall in love with you instead of doing that naturally. It even sounds way too judgmental to accuse the Hufflepuffs as stoners. People who honestly come up with that are thinking way too much, no offense.

1. Quirrell was the muggle professor first, and did not have Voldemort on the back of his head when he was fired. Lockhard was the only one who applied for the job. No one got hurt when Lupin was a student which was for 7 years, so why would he hurt someone when he became a professor? Dumbledore had known Moody for years, and Moody was resposible for filling up half of Azkaban, and he never took drinks from others to protect him from poison, so why would Dumbledore double check on Moody? and noone applied for the DADA in Harry's 5'th year, so the ministry decided to give it to Umbridge to keep the students in line.. 2. Dumbledore didn't suck, he just did what he could to finally defeat Voldemort. 3. The houseelfs didn't want to be freed, it was only Dobby. The others saw it as an honor to work, so it's more confusing than saying noone supported freeing houseelfs, they just knew houseelfs wouldn't want that.

"Hermione is perfect" 😆😂😂😂😂😂... Ya'll really need to read the books properly before you make these videos. The house elves LIKED being enslaved. All Hermione ever succeeded in doing was insulting them and trying to force them into freedom that they DID NOT WANT. Is it really slavery if it's your choice?? Hermione was trying to take their choices away because she believed it was right. She believed that her way was the right way, the only way for them to live and she tried to force them into it. How was she any better than the slave masters?? Don't get me wrong, I love Hermy. But she could have gone about it differently. I mean House elves definitely deserved to be treated with more kindness but she should not have disrespected them by spitting in the face of their traditions. It was their way of life, it was what they loved doing with their lives. Taking care of wizards was an honour to them. It is okay, welcomed even, to fight for their better treatment and working conditions but not okay to take away their choice by forcing or tricking them into freedom. Yes, she actually tried to trick them by making wolly hats and hiding them around the common room for the house elves to accidentally pick up. Ron actually had to take to bringing out the hats form where she had buried them and said that the house elves should at least have a choice in the matter.

Even if they had done a background check, they would have run it on Madeye Moody and except for his occasional paranoia, he would have been deemed teacher material, as he, if I remember it correctly, taught before being offered the position as a Hogwarts teacher, since he taught the young Aurors in training. At least that is how I remember it. I could be wrong though...

I wish that that Harry Potter and Ginny were not shown in the movies as much as they were shown in the books

Dumbledore couldn't tell Harry certain things (like Snape, the Horcrux, etc) because of the connection he had with Voldemort, so if he told Harry, there was the risk that Voldemort would find out and leverage that...

If Dumbledore told Harry everything, Voldemort would have access to the same knowledge due to their connection. And Voldemort is absolutely experienced enough to leverage that.

There's also the plot hole with Basilisk Venom that blew my mind once I heard. Basilisk venom kills Horcruxes... Harry was bitten by a basilisk on The Chamber of Secrets, and it didn't kill the freaking Horcrux inside of him.

I don't think it's plot hole. Yes, venom kills horcruxes, but Harry wasn't killed by the venom, so horcrux survived.

But the house elves wanted to work. 😅 I think freeing them all would have been a bad idea. The wizards knew this and Ron showed kindness to them along with Harry in the books

I’m sorry, but most of those entries are easily countered by just paying attention to details. Do your research next time, okay?

It isn't just adults that notice Dumbledore kinda socks. Plenty if kids and teens are also aware of this.

And can we also please mention the corruption, the inconsistency and the hypocrisy of the ministery of magic? The ministeries lack of self-critisism, selfreflection and selfimprovement. And their complete lack of logic and above all, lack of fairness. And worst of all, enforcing their way of thinking, working and behaving to everyone within the wizarding world and sometimes even onto the muggle world?
