Villains are just so obsessed into gloating their upcoming victories to the heroes because it makes them feel so satisfied. They love to feel the power and satisfaction when they tell the heroes in how much they wanted to do their evil plans before destroying the heroes. And honestly that is just stupid in the villains' part, they enjoy hurting the heroes' emotions that they are just so dumb enough to finish the job.

Fun fact: In the Princess Bride, Mandy Patinkin used the recent death of his father in real life to express his grief over the death of his father in the film so his tears were real because he was pretending Count Rugen was the cancer that killed his father. This was indeed an iconic scene that will always be remembered

Should have mentioned Thanos. If he wasn’t so focused on being “inevitable”, probably woulda noticed the missing stones. Also, The Operator from Serenity isn’t a true villain, but more of an anti-hero. Had fantastic intentions and sacrificed his whole life to make them happen, even if he wouldn’t experience Utopia, only to find out he was manipulated

To Darth Vader‘s credit he didn’t have Luke in his sight and was trying to provoke him into a fight. I’ll admit that threatening someone else is loved ones is a great way to trigger your doom. Seriously this whole “caring as a weakness” thing is also a villains greatest weakness. You threaten those and the protagonist just fight back harder

Not really. The only things they have in common are a king's brother murdering the king to take his throne until the king's son eventually gets revenge, which is a premise you can find in a number of stories.

Here’s a list top 10 times when a villain lost because they wanted revenge the one I can think of off the top of my head is Winnifred from hocus-pocus after all she wastes the last moments of her short resurrection chasing after one girl who called her ugly her two dumb sisters put it out that they have more than enough lives to steal and the book to make more potion all she had to do was use the potion on one victim to extend her life just enough then go after her but her desire for revenge cost Her victory sanitize from gargoyle said it best revenge is a suckers game

9:30 I quite like how in the climax of the remake they decided to make Simba not refer to Scar as Uncle Scar because that shows that he pretty much lost respect for him after he killed Mufasa

#9 is so perfectly cathartic though if you know how Mandy Patinkin interpreted the scene. He saw it as killing the cancer that killed his father when he was younger; it’s a really beautiful story yet tragic

Don't forget Ernesto de la Cruz from the movie Coco. He not only got away with murder, he put the act in one of his movies. Then at the end he starts ranting about how he can't let Miguel go back home to keep Hector's memory alive. He was so focused on ranting he didn't notice he was being filmed.

Cloves death might be one of the most disappointing moments in the hunger games movies. It was so intense, and deep in the book. And in the movie it was just "thresh go boom boom" and that was it.

How about John Wick 2, where Sabatino goads John at the Continental, telling him to follow Winston's advice and just walk away, thinking he won't dare do anything there. Maybe, just maybe, John wouldn't have shot him if he'd just kept his big mouth shut. But then again, that's why John's so dangerous. He shoots first and asks questions later.

In Serenity, the reason that move didn't work on Mal was because he'd had the muscle removed years before. He only pretended to remain paralysed. It didn't fade with time because of a monologue. Really wish you guys would actually watch these movies. I see so many of these inconsistencies.

I think a lot of the times when the villain captures the hero, they aren't the most humble people and because of that they become sure of their victory. So much so that they would tell the hero their plans as a means to mock them.

I think a few disney villains could make the list but the one im gonna add is Judge Frollo Hunchback of Notre Dame. He chose to stand on a loose gargoyle and recite a verse from the bible just as he is about to finish swing his sword at the Quasi and Esmerelda. Giving the gargoyle enough time to break off and we all know what happens next.

There's one mistake that Syndrome made that led to his demise: He wore a cape. Edna used to design Superhero suits with capes. When capes cause so many superheroes to lose their lives she completely stopped adding capes in the superhero's suit saying "No Capes".

Agree. He would've won if he haven't been overconfidence. You remember what Luke's said to Darth Sidious "Your overconfidence is your weakness" That's what it looks like. And most of the villains like him is one of them.

Well, a villain wouldn't be a villain without the constant need to gloat. It's a sacred rule for them. A villain is not a villain without revealing their master plan to the hero and brag about how they are so smart, belittle the hero and the necessity to torment them as much as possible.

In Return of the Jedi: At the end, Luke is standing over Darth Vader, ready to kill him, when the Emperor just has to say, "Yes kill your father and take his place at my side." And then suddenly, Luke didn't want to kill Darth Vader anymore. If the Emperor had just kept his mouth shut....
