i love my royal gramma! she claimed the underside of my rock, loves the caves in it! my favorite is how curious yet shy she is, she will come out and stare at me for awhile and then dart back under her rock. she also swims upside down when shes under it which is so silly to see. one of my favorite fish for sure!

Love these type of vids! I have a pair of juvenile clownfish in a 40 gal breeder and was thinking of getting the cardinal, royal gramma and the midas blenny, do you think they’ll get along ?

I'm putting together a zoa only tank. 40 gallon breeder. Going insane trying to research the ideal fish and invertebrates to live in harmony with that. Taking my time. I have zero reasons to do it wrong.

Yep pretty much. My gramma always hangs out near its cave and never strays far. Only to feed really. And then they don’t even like coming near the top of the tank. Really a shy-ish fish IME.

I can't keep Lenny's in my tank I have the smallest little Gap between my filter and my glass top and three of them have found their way out of the tank and have been crispy Critters between the light and the glass I gave up on blennies

There are only branching types vs wall varieties. Basically just various colour varieties which can’t be guaranteed due to lighting and individual tank parameters.

I finally got the final fish for the 4ft tank (Scott’s wrasse that I wil beg to be able to name hallow eventho it’s a male) Now just looking for that final fish for a 15g tank and I’m tempted on a 5th wrasse in the house with a possum wrasse If I ever get a 10ft tank I will get a sohal tang and maybe also an achillese tang

I've never seen a gramma near the top once they are acclimated. Midas blenny is my favorite top dweller.

My royal gramma hid in the rocks for the first few days I had him, but after that he became very comfortable and swims by the top all the time.

@@MadHattersReef I must be really unlucky. I had 3 different tanks with 3 different grammas and they didn't get near the top. I haven't seen them near the top at LFS around me either. They must not do that in the midwest lol

I’ve had multiple grammas over the years. Never had one dwell in the top either.

@@guidedbyechoes I’m in the south U.S. for reference. At the fish store my gramma hid in a rock and would occasionally pop out. In my tank he goes around the rocks and swims around the middle column when he doesn’t know I’m watching him. He has a cave in the back that I can’t really look into and there’s a bunch more hiding spots in my rock work so maybe he just feels comfortable. Most of the time if a fish has a lot of hiding spots they will swim around more because they feel confident that they could quickly hide if they needed to. Definitely middle column though. More like what you’d see with freshwater tetras. For comparison a betta would be a top water fish. The only time the gramma goes all the way to the top is during feeding.

My potters angel literally does not leave the rock work. Always in and out of it but you won’t see her in open water in the upper half of the tank.

wow the prices are about 10 times more expensive than in mine. like cromis here priced only usd 0.7 to 1. might be here most are taken from the ocean, not captive breed.

Wish someone could tell my royal grammar the top half is safe. I have 3 fish including him, all peaceful however he's always on the bottom half. Hiding in caves, over hangs and also he's decided to create himself a goby cave, actually dug under the sand into the side of my rocks to create a bed for himself

This is my list for now, but I have a 30 gal that I may convert of an anemone and clownfish only. If that happens I won’t have clowns in the 120. It may change all together. I’m at least a year out from putting it together because I’m trying to get all the best equipment I can afford and building a custom metal stand with a magnetic cover so I can completely access the entire underside easily. Still trying to decide if it’s gonna be a fowlr. I know it will be for a least two years before coral. Flame Angel Kole Tang Yellow Tang Starry Blenny Yellow Coris Wrasse (3) Flame Wrasses- 1 male, 2 female Royal Gramma Purple Firefish (2) Classic Ocellaris Clownfish

My royal gramma is the shyest fish ever! She wouldnt come out even when she was alone in the tank for a month or so. I guess he is even scared of whats going on outside of tank! Beautiful fish but boring for sure! I just had 2 carpenters wrasse arrive dead! I only paid 17 bucks so really makes me sick! I will never find a deal like that again! Do they not ship well or something? Perhaps I was sold sick fish on purpose and why they were so cheap especially sick because I gave one a chance and put in tank because it was still breathing (but barely) so they wouldnt refund me for that! Not to sling mud but reefs4less, sister company of saltwaterfish who was also selling them at same price!
