Nothing will ever surpass the 80's as a child. Wake up at 7am... Gijoes playing, then Transformers... The music, the toy's the videogames, the commercials, the movies, even the sun seemed different back then. It was simply amazing. Such an amazing era.

Men, Sectaurs, Record Breakers, Big Wheel, Power Wheels, Captain Power, Pogo Ball, Thunder Cats, Silver Hawks, M.A.S.K., Rock Lords, Mad Balls, Inhumanoids, Centurions, Monchichis, Flipsiders, Spirograph, My Buddy, Ghostbuster Slime, Star Wars Lightsaber...I could go on for days! GI Joe and Transformers were "the law" where I grew up. Especially since my friends all preferred the Joes, and I preferred COBRA. Using treble fish-hooks and thread for grappling-hooks (we had the smaller figures in Canada), battles in all seasons, in all terrains... Good stuff.

Watching Mojo videos from so many years ago really makes me notice how much more _natural_ Rebecca sounds now as a narrator. I don't know if it's just from experience or having a little more freedom to Ad-lib, but she's definitely established herself as a Mojo staple since.

Gary Horsburgh The craze "broke" and the phenomenon began in the 1970's when "Star Wars" first emerged into pop culture. It was huge those last three years. Just because it continued to an extent throughout the 1980s doesn't mean it belongs there more. If you have to choose only one, then it's 1970s.

@curtyeomans8446
@curtyeomans8446 7 жыл бұрын
Having been a kid in the '80s, I can attest that many of those were really popular back in the day (although the Magic 8 Ball falls more into that flash in the pan fad category with slap bracelets). Still, I don't remember kids being over the moon for Jenga. That was more popular with adults and maybe teens. It's important to note however that this is video is titled the Top 10 Toy LINES of the 1980s, and Magic 8 Ball, Jenga and Rubiks Cube do not qualify as toy lines. They were just toys. Mr. Potato Head only qualifies ( I guess) because there was also Mrs. Potato Head. I am surprised that Thundercats, Ghostbusters, Pound Puppies, Voltron, Go-Bots (AKA the poor man's Transformers) and He-Man/She-Ra (be honest, it was really just one toy line that they tried to pass off as two separate lines) didn't make the list. As for the folks who mention M.A.S.K., I always felt those fell more into that homogeneous pool of 80's toys that also included Visionaries, Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors, Silverhawks, and Centurions.

Although Rubik's cube's fame and popularity are unquestionably bigger than those of the rest of the toy lines in this list, I have to say that for me, and probably for a lot more people, when we think about 80's toys Transformers are the first that come to our minds. It's true that Transformers is now a days more relevant than it has ever been before but I feel that if you ask someone to relate the Rubik's cube to a specific decade, most wont probably know what to say, or at least the people I know, while if you ask them about Transformers, everyone talks about how much they played them in the 80's. But of course this is my opinion, and I completely respect and understand this list.

1:24 I have that same Magic 8 Ball, even the same packaging, on display! I have a lot of the Ninja Turtles toys, as well as My Little Pony, Jem and the Holograms, Transformers, He-Man, Popples, Gizmo from Gremlins, the list goes on. Then again, I AM a toy collector, and many of the toys have been in my collection since I was a kid. Unlike other kids, I actually took care of my toys and very few are broken. The broken ones are thanks to my brothers who loved to destroy everything they owned lol!
