Considering Queen is still considered one of the greatest acts of all time....and Freddie is (pretty much) the greatest showman...it saddens me to see them land 9th on the list. Then again...it's WatchMojo, so it doesn't really count

Agreed Though both Queen (rock band) and U2 (rock band) are one of my all time most favourite musical acts but Queen (rock band) were and still (even after 25 years of Queen frontman Freddie Mercury's death) are bigger and more popular than U2 (rock band). Both Freddie Mercury (frontman / lead vocalist of Queen) and Bono (frontman / lead vocalist of U2) are the legends of stage due to their charismatic stage personas but still Queen were bigger and better than U2 as Queen's Greatest Hits (compilation album) is the biggest selling album in UK history and also it sold more than U2's The Joshua Tree (which is U2's highest selling album of all time).

I think the half of their listing of U2 above Queen was due to U2 being the most successful and currently the biggest band in the world with most no.of grammy wins by a rock band, the world's highest grossing world concert tour of all time, Bono of U2 being one of the world's most effective humanitarian BUT......... - Queen's overall total estimated record sales of their music's worldwide popularity stands at 300 million copies whereas U2 is just 150 million. - "Bohemian Rhapsody", "We Will Rock You", "Another One Bites the Dust" are one of the world's best selling singles / songs of all time whereas none of U2 singles are there. - Freddie Mercury of Queen is often voted as undoubtedly one of the best singers / vocalists of all time in music history by countless polls / surveys on the other hand, Bono of U2 is not often mentioned in best singers / vocalists list. - Brian May of Queen is often voted one of the best guitarists within the rock music history on the other hand, U2's Edge is not mentioned often. - Queen's 1985 Live Aid performance is often voted the best & the Greatest live musical performance / gig of all time whereas none of U2's live performances / gigs (even their world record highest grossing tours) are mentioned on the list.

Michael Jackson had/has the biggest selling album of all time, broke the world record for the most Grammy wins in one night, broke down the wall between races in music, had continuous iconic number one hit songs, made a huge worldwide impact with his powerful songs with strong messages, was able to successfully alter and develop between different genres of music, inspired and influenced many of the popular artists today, was able to make a crowd of screaming fans go mad by just being present on stage and created iconic and amazing choreography. He will always be my number 1.

+Sarumoh Bolu tell me again what instruments Micheal played? what albums did he even write more then half the songs? fact remains he didn't create music, never wrote whole albums without the help of writers and didn't change music like the beatles or elvis Presley. They're being kind by having him at #2. it's the beatles at 1 then everyone else. Michael wouldn't crack top 3 on my list. he's not an artist he's an entertainer

+Haseeb Ali yes vocalist and dancer. when have you ever saw him play a musical instrument on stage or even in the studio? Freddie mercury was a better singer then mj and he played instruments. MJ just does not compare musically to the likes of paul mccartney, Bob dylan, john lennon, Freddie mercury etc

Nah the Beatles were great at making albums top selling band only because of producer genius George Martin creative ideas and mind ,Beatles were not great musicians ,they were good that's it ,live Beatles were not that good a all I believe they stopped touring I'm 66 or 67 .in the studio they were phenomenal. That's it.nothing else.

@@milescory8928 Madonna is more iconic than Elvis. Elvis's music is boring as hell and it took him releasing tens and tens of albums to be the best selling solo artist. It took Madonna 4 studio albums, a soundtrack, and a compilation to be the best selling female artist. Plus, her music has had more influence with today's generation than elvis's

nathaniel JOHNSON I’m not a fan of Elvis at all and i agree his music is meh but i’m just saying that elvis was an influence to so many artists. I can’t deny modonna was such an influence especially on the modern day female artists (katy perry, lady gaga, beyonce etc.) but elvis is just iconic. more people know the name Elvis Presley than madonna but madonna is in the top 10 of the greatest artists of all time.

Michael Jackson will forever be #1 in my opinion. I literally grew up on his 80's/90's music and cried when he died even though I normally don't get that emotional over celebrity deaths. You can go to some bush village in the middle of Africa or South America and they know who Michael Jackson is. He was so talented but so humble and kind.

In the old days you chose an instrument on school, that give you an automatic connection of what music in a more technical sense of the word is about. It makes you understand about blues, country and the pureness of that kind of music. That also makes you understand about the importance of Hendrix, Beatles and Stones.

Number 1 has to be MJ . In the non-english speaking world, everyone knows him. Not just that, people get excited when his name and imagery is mentioned, hoots and screams. You do not get that level of excitement with Elvis anymore these days even though Elvis had that influence for decades. In asia, you cannot go wrong if you imitate MJ because you know you will instantly grab screams and attention with his dance and imagery .... everyone on the streets knows Thriller, Smooth Criminal and Billie Jean. He's an all round icon in every aspect of being a singer, no other singers including Elvis has that level of recognition globally ... in fact his is the no.1 icon in entertainment history, no doubt about it.

I love The Beatles, but there's no way they're better than Michael Jackson. Michael Jackson was, is and will always be the greatest of all time. There will never be another artist as big as MJ. People should realize The Beatles were great artist but never were they the total package, Michael on the other hand had it all, he was just perfect.

The Beatles were constantly reinventing their sounds. As a result, almost all of their albums are in Rolling Stone's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. Heck, the Beatles even have the #1 spot with Sgt. Pepper.

Plus, The Beatles have an unfair advantage since they're four and Michael's just one, you think individually the Beatles could hold a candle to Mike? Hell no bro! By the 90's he became the most famous living man. 7. He also became a first for black people, breaking many racial barriers at a time when black people were not so integrated. He was more "global." 8. He holds more world records, more rewards and a bigger fan base. 9. He's the greatest ever by most top artists opinion. 10. The Beatles music belongs to his children. :) Much respect to the Beatles, but MJ is a league by himself.
