They are called fairytales for reason. Because they are exaggerated, fantastical, and at times totally zany stories that are made for a child's fertile imagination. They contain lessons in them that are on the level of a child so that they can understand and have fun at the same time. Preparation for the real world comes from your parents, and examples of real love come from your parents as well. My parents fell in love over the course of five weeks of dating and have been married for 33 years. But both of my siblings met each of their spouses and dated them for years before either of them got married. Each couple is different.

Disney definitely needs to do at least one movie where the villain meets their end on a sickbed, at a ripe old age, but where they're still getting their comeuppance because the last things they see are celebrations of their impending deaths. Whether it's the hero giving them one last speech about [insert central theme of the movie here], a literal celebration that they can see on TV, or even just all of their equally evil family and associates plotting to alter his will. The thing about evil people is that, while they rarely ever get a comeuppance on a Disney-like level, none of them get to stay evil forever. Sooner or later, they're all going to lose it all just by sheer virtue of the fact that they can't take it with them. Henry Kissinger may have been given a Nobel peace prize and lived to be a hundred, but that didn't stop people from dancing on his grave.

As unrealistic as Disney films can be (at times as far fetched as an action film and cliche) it takes you away from how rotten our world has become. As much as I tear up when I watch Beauty & The Beast or The Lion King, I still enjoy it cause it’s just not about love, it’s also about acceptance which is why I also love The Hunchback of Notre Dame. I also prefer the live action Cinderella, no offence to the animated version.

Hearing Number 10, It's impossible for Disney movies to be good without being full on musicals. Because let's face it the musical numbers are one of the many things that make Disney movies fun to watch. But it also doesn't mean that the characters in Disney movies have to just randomly burst into song at the drop of a hat every 10 minutes.

So, with housework, it really depends on what exactly you gotta do! I don't mind cleaning windows and I love cooking, but other things like vacuuming or ironing just take forever. 🙈 Anyways, Walt Disney never claimed he wanted to represent the world in it's reality. The purpose of his films, which you are mostly referring to here, has always been the opposite, which is why him and his team often made significant changes to the stories in order to romanticize the plotlines and adjust their deeper morals to the social standards and gender roles of the time. I guess that's why most American audiences associate fairytales in general with feel-good stories. And although we have now reached the 21th century, most modern Disney films are still rather unrealistic and over the top. But then again, WE ALL NOW THAT WHEN WE TURN ON A DISNEY PRODUCTION! 😄 If you want fairytales that depict a harsh - or at least a more realistic - environment, read the original tales to your children before showing them the cheesy Disney versions. 🤷🏻‍♀️ The real stories often include a whole lot more social criticism, which is why so many people could relate to those folk tales and passed them on over generations. Hans Christian Andersen's little mermaid doesn't marry her prince. She joins the nymphs who save sailors on sea. 🧜🏼‍♀️ ... Sleeping Beauty's father is a tyran king who doesn't invite the 13th fairy because her gift to the newborn princess would only be *diligence* (which princesses don't need, apparently), in the form of a symbolic spinning wheel. After she puts her spell on the princess, the king orders the burning of every single bobbin in the empire, with which he robbs most of his people of their income, so thousands starve to death ...Neither the Grimms', nor Perrault's version of Cinderella features trigger-happy singing animals (only pidgeons with one catchphrase). She does however have two stepsisters who cut off their toes / heel to fit into the shoe 🥿 ...which isn't all that inaccurate because back when marital status meant EVERYTHING, parents would force their daughters to go to great lengths for the right match! But as a child, that doesn't actually traumatize you, because a child's mind works differently and you don't pay mich attention to those details as long as the hero/ine gets her silverlining. 😊

Wow, I think I have to completely disagree with this video. 10: Who has ever said that real life is a musical? Geesh... 9: And this one is true only if you encounter a wizard or a sorceress or magic in some other way. 8: Conflicts between a parent and a child are real in many people's lives, and I don't see what Elsa's and Anna's parents could have done differently. 7: So you don't think that bad stepmothers or uncles exist? Luckily though, Bruno from "Encanto" is the most wonderful example of a good Disney uncle. 6: So you don't think that Mulan and Moana should have saved their countries? Some of these characters had to escape an abusive adult, and Riley had no chance to end up in danger before she returned to her parents. 5: Eh, it's fiction? It is not like cartoons have to be realistic all the time. 4: So we can see that this point is only against the four first Disney Princess movies, so it's clear that it's not an issue with newer works. Still, it is hardly unheard of that a couple hit it off immediately (that is what my sister and her husband did, for example). 3: Coachman from "Pinocchio" never got any punishment that we saw, and I truly hate that bastard. 2: Eh, it's fiction. Anna did have some really messy hair in one scene when she was waken up in the morning though. 1: Mary Poppins and Merlin could use magic to do housework, Snow White is a completely unrealistic character and Giselle is just a lame parody of her. Cinderella was clearly angry at Lucifer when he got the clean floor dirty, and I don't think that Arthur liked to do the dishes at all. Honorable Mentions: Again, it's fiction. And unless a powerful sorceress is walking around your neighborhood, it is very much safe to not let strangers in.

I know where the whole True Love At 1st Sight comes from. In Greek mythology and rl, people were infatuated with one another and mistook it for love. There's a difference in reality. That's why. Elsa and Kristoff were right when talking down to Anna about wanting to merry someone she just met and thinking that it was real love when she knew nothing about Hans, only little bits he gave.
@Furienna
@Furienna 3 ай бұрын
See, that is you talking out of 21rst century cynicism and looking down on what worked for people for millennia. It is not up to others to tell somebody else if what they feel is love or not. Also, princesses and princes before the 20th century in real life hardly ever knew each other for more than at most a week before they got engaged. It was only seen as them making a good match and wasn't considered problematic at all. But yeah, the writers of "Frozen" had to crap on the legacy of the Disney studio and ignore the historical truth behind why fairytale romances work like they do. It is a completely ridiculous notion that a queen would criticize her sister for finding a prince when she really would have congratulated her instead. It is also ridiculous to think that Kristoff would have said anything about it at all, because it would not have been his business in the first place! Well, at least it managed to be a good movie otherwise unlike the complete garbage with a similar message that is "Enchanted"...

More than anything it shows that evil doesn’t win cause Disney has reminded me after dealing with some harassment /bullying as an adult to stop acting like a child and get my nose out of the books The bravest thing you can do is to remember who you are as a person/ and to keep a good head on your shoulders Don’t have to follow the crowd or listen to those negative comments Be your own person and find your own confidence and look at where that takes you. That’s what Disney has reminded me of and has also reminded me that just cause I’m into books - Art - and journaling doesn’t make me a bad person It’s all about finding your inner voice and remembering who you are and what’s in your heart The right people in your life will notice that and will love you no matter what So that is one truth have found consistently in Disney movies Stay true to who you are and don’t change that just cause someone may use it as an excuse to not like you. They aren’t worth your time Focus on your own dreams and as long as you continue to give it 100 percent and focus on the friends who love you for you - that’s what’s important. and will succeed That is one realistic thing you can expect from Disney movies

9 and 10 sound like Ms Mojo ran out of ideas. Only kids that gullible are toddlers. That's why you teach them early not to believe everything they see in cartoons. #8 is mostly a 90s and early 2000s trend that needs to die in peace. 7-2 are believable, but #1 is the most ridiculous. I never knew a single Disney kid that was fooled into thinking chores are fun. Most of my classmates growing up, me included, would complain about our least favorite chores. 🤣

Another honorable mention: if you’re upset and need a good cry, fling yourself over a piece of furniture (be it a bench, a rock, a bed, etc) and sob and sob until someone magical comes to rescue you and save the day

This one os more subtle, but intergenerational trauma and decades of abuse (emotional or physical) do not just suddenly disappear because someone has a sudden chamge of heart or the perpetrator dies. For example, I love the move Encanto, but the ending feels too forced. You don't go through decades of being told you are nothing and then forget all that because Grandma suddenyl said she actually loves you. There are years of therapy needed to get there. Lots of other examples, I am sure.

I really don't get how people keep missing this, but it's clear that the last song is a summary of weeks or even months of progress. So if you compare that to most older Disney movies, it is not a quick fix but the start of a longer process...

I think the biggest lie Disney taught is if you’re a good person and you wish on a star or wish through a dream or in a wishing well, your wish will come true. Not many things happen just because you’re a good person.

I'm sorry, but I doubt that any of the movies that you're thinking of was made after Walt passed away in 1966. But even so, let's remember that even fricking Snow White, as unrealistic as she is, was a hard worker and earned her happy ending by helping the dwarfs.

No, all the movies I referred to (Snow White, Pinocchio, and Cinderella) were released during Walt Disney's time. Pinocchio, the movie that introduced the idea that if you just wish on a star "everything your heart desires will come to you" was released just after Snow White, and I know Cinderella with "A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes" was released during Walt Disney's time. @@precious_muse Pinocchio was only allowed to become alive because Gepetto had earned it by making other people happy with his toys. Likewise, Pinocchio was only allowed to become a real boy after they both had been through a lot of misery and earned their happy ending. And even if meeting a fairy isn't likely to happen to you in real life, well, if you can't tell the difference fiction and reality, that is hardly Disney's fault. But you can still see that even their earliest protagonists didn't get much for free...

It's time to learn yours" hits deep actually one of Confucianism (especially Neo-Confucianism)'s core teachings is 禮 ( _li_ , abstract concept which can mean "rites", "ceremony", "propriety", & "decorum"), and part of it is all about adherence & conformity to the established social order about 5, no matter people are increasingly into pets @6:29-@6:34 I suddenly wonder how many did she originally give birth and how many did she eat afterwards @8:32-@8:37 glaring side-eye to rhe French & South Korean entertainment industries Mulan's haircut definitely constitutes a crime in Confucianism tho...in the original "Ballad" Mulan did no such thing, as realistically both men & women had long hair fixed up into a topknot
